Problem: (Sometimes) our games show up as nothing but a blank screen where the flash content is supposed to show. This leads users to believe the flash is not loading at all, and it takes seconds of hovering on top of the flash before the "Click to start Flash Plug-in" shows up.

If the content is front and center it plays as usual - I'd say a game on facebook is pretty front and center but it's still hidden.

I assume there is no way to disable Power Saver for the user since that would defeat it's purpose, but is there a way to at least let Safari know what preview to show?

I'm working on a website that's optimized for mobile devices that can also be used on a desktop. In order to test the functionality of it without setting up a server, I'm using the iPhone simulator that comes with XCode. The website's purpose is to give a manager for the business a way of approving or rejecting potential offers the marketers have in mind to give to customers when they are away from their desk. When you get to the Approve/Reject page, you can click either the Approve or Reject button. Each button, once pressed will bring up a window (not a separate page) where the manager can add comments. On the iPhone simulator, whenever the window comes up, the iPhone will not let you scroll down at all on the window as, for some reason, the scroll function still seems to be connected to the main page, not the window that just came up. The problem only occurs on the iPhone part of the simulator, but not on the iPad part. I've been beaten by this problem for several days and I can't find anything on the internet that gives suggestions. Does anybody have any idea on what I should do with the coding, or if it's just what happens when you run the server locally on the simulator? Any help will be appreciated, as I've exhausted all I can think of.

Try Modal box on iPhone no scroll
The modal becomes a static height on the screen and it should allow you to scroll all the way to the bottom of that window.
Change the height setting so that it fits.
I have an issue where I have a hidden toolbar the drops down with social buttons on it, the VK.com like button being one of them.
It refuses to show itself in FireFox. All other browsers work fine however when the bar pulls down there is nothing there in FF. Does Vkontakte have a force load / render like Facebook and Google do where you can programmatically trigger the render of the like button.
It may be because you have launched video on vkontakte with firefox zoom something other than 1:1. This may result in distorted video player pop-up window size. it is a bitch to fix, since reinstalling firefox and flash player don't do any good.
Launching vk.com videos with different zoom rates, and finally 1:1, seems to fix it.
This may be unrelated to your problem.
I have a very rare problem on iOS (iphone).
i developed the site yolieva.de with a videoclip which also runs on ios. but it plays in the background because on top is the navigation with z-index. but it is not accessible from ios. kind of disabled because of the videoclip. you may want to try it with an iphone and you see you cant click through the site…
how to solve this? i want to keep the navigation above the video
I think this has something to do with how iOS deals with the videoclip, so I am not sure that you can do anything about it directly.
Why don't you make the div containing the flash player (id player) smaller on the iphone?
In fact, on the iphone your flash video is not shown in place, there is anyway a change of view, so there is no need of having it full screen either. Of course, you should make your flash player div smaller only for iOS, not other browsers, where it is fine that it is full screen...
The basic parts of this full motion video game is:
The user is shown a video clip which either plays to the end or can be skipped. A clip could be something like a character talking or of a location. Some of the clips might loop until the user clicks something e.g. the clip might show birds flying in the park.
The user is presented with several choices that are overlaid over the video clip at some point where the choices are things like "1. go to the park" or "2. ask the man about the park".
Each choice is linked with another video clip and another set of choices e.g. if the user picks option 2, they are shown a video of the man responding and can then follow up with more questions.
I'd like the above to look seamless and presentable. For example, video clips and text options should fade in and out and I'd like the page to be fullscreen.
Would it be possible to do the above in HTML5 while supporting most desktop and mobile browsers? Would some other language be more appropriate? I'd rather not use Flash, primarily because then I cannot easily support iOS.
From doing some research, the above seems easily possible in all modern browsers on desktop machines with the caveat that there doesn't appear to be any reliable way to make an HTML5 page go full screen, unlike Flash. The iOS situation looks grim: as far as I know video clips will only play once the user has clicked on the clip and I'm not sure if I can overlay buttons on these. I've also read that the video tag can be buggy on Android.
Can anyone comment on what approach I can use for addressing these issues?

I have no constraints about it being server or client hosted.
I know I can't realistically get this to work on every browser out there so I'm really asking: without having to write several ports of the game, what approach can I use to target a sizeable audience?
Can HTML 5 embed video? Certainly. Will it work on most desktop and mobile browsers? Well, define 'most'. If we're talking pure numbers, then no. Lots of the planet still using IE <8 on the desktop and Symbian on the Nokias.
The bigger issue, IMHO, is that video on a mobile device is typically handled by the device. I'm not sure you can over-ride that. For instance, on an iPhone, if I click an embedded video, it pops it out as it's own full-screen video. You'd have to experiment and see if you have any control over that.
Finally, is this a server hosted game? If so, grabbing a bunch of videos over a cell network may not be the idea user experience.
I would like to get tap to focus in my app and the controls are hidden
Supposedly this is impossible but I know its not. I have a simple iAD dragged into an overlay, no code or anything. When I click on the iAD nothing. but when I close it with the home button I get a modal exit of the nonexistant iAD and the camera apps relaunches but in the top left with only a small portion viewable. But this time the tap to focus is enabled.
So how can I do this without the bug?
