How to cancel activity after message boundary event - workflow

Having the following process
and a message boundary event which has cancelActivity set to false so that after Should cancel the Sub Process could continue where it was before the event was received - in case that No was selected.
How could I simulate as if cancelActivity was set to true in case that the user selects Yes (i.e. cancel/stop Sub Process when the No end is reached)?
Please ask if I wasn't clear about this.

With the boundary event attached to the sub process, there is no way of going to another task after should cancel.
You can neither use link events (not allowed from parent to sub process), nor a simple sequence flow (not allowed between two processes).
So I guess you need attach the message event to each relevant task within the sub process or you need to use two separate boundary events (one interrupting and one non-interrupting).

Further the answer above.
The process flow really doesnt properly capture your requirement.
You should have the email event running in parallel to your sub process.
On receipt of the email, flow directly into the should cancel human/user task.
If yes, send a signal event (signals are easier to implement than messages) that is captured by a signal boundary event receiver on the sub process and simply flow to the end (i.e. terminate).
If no, you simply exit (you may need to start another email receiver - depends on your requirements).
This way, the sub process boundary event is not triggered until after you have made your decision to terminate or not.
Hope this helps.

Anylogic detect that agent stopped on conveyor

is there any easy way to detect that agent stopped on a roller conveyor because there are other agents ahead? I tried to use dynamic variable and conditional event but it is consuming too much performence. I donĀ“t want to go for dynamically checking condition (with cyclic event) because I have some bad experience with it.
Thanks!
Try this:
Create a LinkedList<YourAgentType> agentsOnConveyor.
Whenever an agent enters the conveyor, call agentsOnConveyor.addLast(agent). When it leaves, call agentsOnConveyor.removeFirst(agent).
Now you have a linked representation of the agents on the conveyor.
Last, you use the "on stopped" field in the conveyor and pass the message "upstream" through the linked list, i.e. use a for-loop from the first to the last entry and send them a msg "conveyor stopped".
You may still need to check if the individual agent is moving itself or has also stopped, but it might put you on a working path

Anylogic: Queue TimeOut blocks flow

I have a pretty simple Anylogic DE model where POs are launched regularly, and a certain amount of material gets to the incoming Queue in one shot (See Sample Picture below). Then the Manufacturing process starts using that material at a regular rate, but I want to check if the material in the queue gets outdated, so I'm using the TimeOut option of that queue, in order to scrap the outdated material (older than 40wks).
The problem is that every time that some material gets scrapped through this Timeout exit, the downstream Manufacturing process "stops" pulling more material, instead of continuing, and it does not get restarted until a new batch of material gets received into the Queue.
What am I doing wrong here? Thanks a lot in advance!!
Kindest regards
Your situation is interesting because there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with what you're doing. So even though what you are doing seems to be correct, I will provide you with a workaround. Instead of the Queue block, use a Wait block. You can assign a timeout and link the timeout port just like you did for the queue (seem image at the end of the answer).
In the On Enter field of the wait block (which I will assume is named Fridge), write the following code:
if( MFG.size() < MFG.capacity ) {
self.free(agent);
}
In the On Enter of MFG block write the following:
if( self.size() < self.capacity && Fridge.size() > 0 ) {
Fridge.free(Fridge.get(0));
}
And finally, in the On Exit of your MFG block write the following:
if( Fridge.size() > 0 ) {
Fridge.free(Fridge.get(0));
}
What we are doing in the above, is we are manually pushing the agents. Each time an agent is processed, the model checks if there is capacity to send more, if yes, a new agent is sent.
I know this is an unpleasant workaround, but it provides you with a solution until AnyLogic support can figure it out.

How to make condition for queue?

I want to make agents to not enter the queue if it's full (if it's full then go to sink) at the moment of arrival in selectOutput5.
I tried to put "if-else" into "Actions" section
But I don't really know which parameter to use (tried to use queue.size and queue.capacity but I don't know how to code this properly), please help. Not sure if I doing the right thing at all by trying to put if-else into actions of selectOutput5
The model look like this:
You need to code the conditions under which they should enter which queue and then if the conditions are not met it will assess the next out option.
See example below
It will only go to queue 1 if the queue size is less than 5, else it will assess the queue size of queue 2 and if both are full then go to the exit.
The Actions section is only for code you want to execute if they do exit one of the out options.
Put a selectOutputOut block, select conditions there. And type below your condition: yourQueue.size()>=yourQueue.capacity(). Send the ones to Sink block when this condition is true.

AnyLogic: How to refer to an agent in a delay block in anylogic

I am building a DES-ABM hybrid model in AnyLogic.
The agents go through the DES blocks, among which multiple Delay blocks.
How do I
access an agent which is in a Delay block
or peferrably
acces the specific agent which triggered the 'on enter' action of the delay block?
My ultimate goal is to open or close a valve object on the agent frame
So can I/ how do I
A. open or close the valve on the agent frame directly form the main/root frame (on which the Delay block is located)
or if that is not possible
B. send a message or trigger a statechart within the specific agent which will then open or close the valve from the agent's own frame?
I have tried to use the 'DelayBlockName'.agents() function, but this does not work and returns [] when I check it using traceln.
access an agent which is in a Delay block or peferrably
use the keyword agent. These keywords differ for different library blocks so best start learning about the lightbulb and how it can help, see here.
acces the specific agent which triggered the 'on enter' action of the delay block?
When you write agent. in the "On enter" block, every agent coming through will execute that code, so by definition, it is always the specific agent :)

this is something completely different to your original question and just... messy. Please limit questions to 1 topic so it is easy for us to answer :) (see this guide for more)

Trouble with agent state chart

I'm trying to create an agent statechart where a transition should happen every day at 4 pm (except weekends).
I have already tried:
1. a conditional transition (condition: getHourOfDay() == 16)
2: A timeout transition that will "reinsert" my agent into the chart every 1 s and check if time = 16.
My code is still not running, does anyone have any idea how to solve it?
This is my statechart view. Customer is a single resource that is supposed to "get" the products out of my stock everyday at 4pm. It is supposed to happen in the "Active" state.
I have set a timeout transition (from Active-Active) that runs every 1s.
Inside my "Active" state in the "entrance action" i wrote my code to check if it is 4 pm and run my action if so.
I thought since i set a timeout transition it would check my condition every 1s, but apparently it is not working.
Your agent does not enter the Active state via an internal transition.
Redraw the transition to actually go out of the Active state and then enter it again as below:
Don't use condition-based transitions, for performance reasons. In your case, it also never triggers because it is only evaluated when something happens in the model. Incidentally, that is not the case at 4pm.
re your timeout approach: Why would you "reinsert" your agent into its own statechart? Not sure I understand...
Why not set up a schedule or event with your recurrence requirement and make it send a message to the statechart: stateChart.fireEvent("trigger!");. In your statechart, add a message-based transition that waits for this message. This will work.
Be careful to understand the difference between the Statechart.fireEvent() and the Statechart.receiveMessage() functions, though.
