Set SMTP envelope MAIL FROM using grails asynchronous mail plugin - email

I'd like to set the SMTP envelope sender to a different value per message in some grails code, distinct from the message From: address, which I want to be the same for each email.
This is to do VERP-like bounce tracking.
I can't see a way to set this in an asynchronousMailService.sendMail call. Is there?

As it stands there is a pull request for the Grails mail plugin to add support for this. There is also a blog post which talks about this specific feature. If you need this feature you can always download the forked version of the plugin.

Magento is not sending order confirmation emails

I'm using Aschroder SMTP Pro on my Magento site. The test for email sending(that the plugin does) is successful but order confirmation emails are not being sent.
I enabled email and exception log but i don't manage to see any error in it.
Send mail method in System > Configuration is set to "Separate Email" for each section.
Email templates are correctly configured.
What am i doing wrong?
Thank you.
I also struggled with the problem of order e-mails not being sent in CE 1.9.1 but found the problem after a while:
As of Magento CE 1.9.1 Magento doesn't send order emails directly during the order process.
Instead the mails are queued and are sent by the cron.
So make sure to configure the Magento cronjob properly.

There are many things that can cause what you're describing, and most of them are completely unrelated to Magento.
From the limited amount of information you've provided, my guess would be that your email is undeliverable because your domain lacks Sender Policy Framework records (or one of the other major authentication standards like DKIM, SenderID, and Domain Keys), or because the IP/domain you're testing delivery from was formerly occupied by a spammer and has been blacklisted (which happens).
When it comes to testing emails, I usually test delivery to gmail accounts, because they seem to be the most receptive of the public web-based emails. Any kind of company email is usually a bad choice, because they're more likely to have stricter deliverability standards.
The problem was caused by a bad plugin...i had another problem and resolving it Magento restarted sending confirmation emails.

WinRT/Metro/Win8 Share Contracts - How to send mail with subject, text and attachtment?

Is there an build in feature that provides sharing multiply types like text and image to other applications? All i found was sharing only text or only images to the build in mail application of windows 8.
Want to send an E-Mail were the subject, text and attachment is preset.
From my experience, the current build of Mail (Release Preview) simply won't do it. If you have an attachment, it ignores the subject and text. Look like we're going to have to wait for RTM or test with another email client.
UPDATE: AFAIK, this is still the case even after RTM. The Mail client simply can't handle both a message body and an attachment.

How to implement a "reply to this email" feature for my web application?

I have an application that sends emails when a user creates/modifies a record. I would like my users to be able to reply to the email that was sent to them and have the web application receive the email, parse it and update the record automatically. I have seen this done in web apps like Basecamp. The email usually says "Reply above this line", and if you simply reply to the email, you don't have to log in to the web application in order to update your ticket/conversation.
How can I go about implementing this sort of functionaly? (I'm not looking for a particular language implementation, but rather a language agnostic solution).
There are 2 ways you can do this:
You could use a Procmail filter to pipe the incoming email to your script. This would need some 'nix knowhow to setup - but it's certainly possible to do what you described via this method.
Use a service like MailGun - they do all the hard work of setting up and configuring the mail server stuff and expose it to you via a nice programmable web API. I've been evaluating it this week to solve a similar problem like the one you are having and I can tell you: it is really cool and I highly recommend you check it out yourself.
You'll need to implement a service/daemon that polls an email inbox for new messages. To relate an incoming email to the corresponding data, you can include an id in the outgoing email's subject.
I agree you should created a system to receive the incoming email but I don't necessarily agree that polling for it is the correct solution. Take a look at a blog post I wrote on the subject here. It relates to Rails but the concepts should work in any language. That's why we wrote the CloudMailin system to provide a better way of receiving the email.
Also you can use a unique from address for each email that would prevent the user from altering the subject line being a problem. The disposable part of an email address is useful for that. reply+user123#example.com for example.

How do I build a notification email/reply system like Facebook?

When users receive a notification email about a new private message on Facebook, they can reply to the email and have their response automatically added to the conversation on the site.
How can I build a cross platform system like that? I'm building a group chat system.
This is obviously way over-simplified, but here we go:
The way Facebook's emails work is by using a string that's unique to the receiver in the reply-to address:
<m+50edqb50000003jtdj389k6xib6hofj6t41q1c45sdt92qc#reply.facebook.com>
So when Facebook receive an email into reply.facebook.com, they (presumably) parse the string after the plus sign, decide which user/conversation it's relevant to, and add the text of the email into that conversation.
One option:
Send every notification email with a unique reply-to address, then receive replies with a customized SMTP server that will pair responses with the originating message object in your DB.
Since you are using django (according to your tags) I would recommend looking at the Lamson python SMTP server. It can be programmed to correctly attribute each message. Using Lamson with Django is documented.

ClearQuest Custom Email

I'm trying to create a custom email for ClearQuest in order to:
format the message more neatly
include a hyperlink to a change request (which is based on the Defect schema) on our local intranet
The only way I know of to send an email is to add an email rule using a static form submission via a Email_Rule Stateless Record Type (which comes with the Defect schema). The only customization it allows is to select the fields to include in the email, the criteria specifying when to send the email (e.g. when the state changes), and who to send it to.
I'm assuming a script is run (either in VB or Perl) in order to aggregate the information needed for the email and perhaps another to actually send the email. I'm looking for one or both of those scripts. Does anyone know where those scripts are located on a ClearQuest server?
I've come across various references from IBM that pertain to custom emails, but none were very helpful.
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/library/4329.html (from 2003 and ClearQuest v1.1)
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rational/library/3931.html (from 2002, no version specified)
We're using ClearQuest v7.1.2. Does anyone know of any good references dealing with ClearQuest custom emails?
We are using Clear Quest Email Notification Package, that allows much more flexible email notifications.
Link
The package is compatible with ClearQuest 7.1.2.
You can download new version from the following location:
http://cqadmin.org/wiki/ClearQuest_Email_Notification_Package
Newer versions of ClearQuest have a new Email notification package that does what you want and is also robust to network failures and supports different email services and a high level of security. That is, the email is saved as a record and a service runs that ensures emails get sent.
The name of the package is EmailPlus and it also uses a WebApp, EmailRelay, which performs the email notification duties.
