I understand that we can make custom facebook feeds with custom actions and objects (doc: facebook custom stories)
However, I can't seem to find any documentation about making a custom-structured output feed like Strava below for example. Just to clarify, the miles, minutes, mins/mi and elevation info are not part of the image; it's a table tag. (also, the route in the image seems to be SVG)
Edit: I don't have enough stackoverflow reputation to post an image, so here is the imgur link:

My goal is to post to my FB page (/{page-id}/feed) a link to a website, choosing the image to show instead of the picture scraped automatically from the web page. The image I'd like to show is not in the web page, so I cannot use the og:image tag.
I'm using the current API (v2.9) and this is what I've tried so far in the Graph API Explorer:
the picture parameter, that does not work as expected (it doesn't replace the automatic image)
picture and link parameters both pointing to the image url, with an action button, but it must have the same url used for the link parameter
the child_attachments parameter, but I need at least 2 images and the final result is quite different, too
additional fields of the link parameter, but thy were removed in the 2.9 API
a lot of combinations between these parameters, with no luck
What am I missing?
For information regarding why it isn't working. I assume they removed it to force users to add it to their website like Twitter did with their Twitter cards and maybe to stop impersonating pages.

I want to create a facebook custom story like nike does, but i'm not able to figure out how they wrote html with css actions and maybe javascript in facebook (Hover over the bars change the distance runned and change the date when you do it and some other stuff)
Any ideas will be appreciate
To achieve this you have to use Facebook graph api. there is no need to create a custom story use the common stories and post the parameters and you will be able to see that effect. It comes by default[Faceboook takes care of it].
We're able to post to user's FB timeline/page as the page, no problem. The issue is the post that our app is posting is way smaller than post that a page/user can post to the feed manually.
We've tried to change status_type to one of mobile_status_update, created_note, added_photos, added_video, shared_story, created_group, created_event, wall_post, app_created_story, published_story, tagged_in_photo, approved_friend according to the API (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/api/post/) but neither of these change how the post looks in the feed.
Has anyone been able to post content to timeline/page wall through an APP that looks as if it was posted manually - specifically size of the image?
Sample page post that was posted through our app as page owner - image is small:
Sample page post that was posted manually - large image. We'd like the one above to look like this as well when posted through the app:
status_type is set automatically. You can't set it yourself.
In the case of the manual post, you added a photo. To do that in the API, you have to query /PROFILE_ID/photos.
What you did through the API most probably is a post with a link, with the use of /PROFILE_ID/post with the link field filled. Hence, Daniel & Co shared a link.
That's why it doesn't look the same.
Some help for you to succeed at posting a photo:
How-To: Use the Graph API to Upload Photos to a user’s profile
Adding Photos to Stories
Disable grouping of photos on the timeline
Also note that you won't be able to post a photo with the link to image which is hosted on Facebook.
I have seen many website build with wordpress and they have facebook timeline cover photos auto upload.
anyone please help me?
sorry for my bad english
it isn't difficult at all... you can get the cover url for a page/user using the facebook graph api.
ie: querying http://graph.facebook.com/cocacola?fields=cover will return the cover image properties for the cocacola fan page, simply use the 'source' field as your image src. (this is a 720px wide cover image)
as your using wordpress you could make a widget out of it, or hard code it in the template (eww..).
(on another note - you may want to additionally implement some form of caching for the facebook grapi api result so you don't continuously query facebook on every page load for the cover url.)
Majid Khan,
try this, facebook image uploader (for timeline and more.....)
work fine on wordpress and more....but it is not free
Timeline is the New Facebook Timeline covers profile. Tell your life story through photos, friendships and personal milestones like graduating or traveling to new places.
I have an online bachelor catalog and I want people to Like a bachelor and have it appear on their FB feed.
http://gothamrfc.org/drupal/?q=2012catalog
I set up the Like button using the Social Plugins feature on FB. All bachelors are on the same page and they have anchors http://gothamrfc.org/drupal/?q=2012catalog#waldmann and the Like button refers to each anchor.
My problem is when the user clicks on Like, it posts the same picture of one bachelor, not of the one that they liked. I didn't see anything in my js file. I also added the og button but that didn't work.
How do I adjust the code so Like button corresponds to the correct photo?
I'm sure it's something simple. Thank you for your assistance.
Im having the same issue really... My current solution is to hard-code the URL of the image in the like button ref code.
The only issue with this is that it will show that image ONLY, on a blank page when someone clicks the liked image on a user's facebook page.
I'm still looking for answers since the only alternative I've found is to create individual pages for each image (each blog post, in my case) and link to THOSE pages. Not ideal and much more work than I'd like.
have a look at my blog page on my website to see what I mean: MarinePix Blog
