Possible to install .ipa without iTunes? - iphone

Is it possible to install an ipa on an iPhone (given enterprise provisioning profile) without iTunes? We are distributing an app to a non-technical audience within our company and want to simplify things as much as possible.
In the ideal case, we'd like to host the ipa on a site, and have the users browse to the site from their iPhone and install directly. Is something like this possible?

You can use this service: www.testflightapp.com
It is free. You can send invitations/notifications to the desired users and a new version or update is uploaded. Also you can share a link to anyone you'd like.

If you want to distribute the ipa through your own domain and server you can use HockeyKit. It's the free and open source "little brother" of HockeyApp, a hosted service to distribute app betas.
Here is what you need to do:
Integrate the HockeyKit SDK in your app
Install the server component on your web server
Add the devices you want to distribute to in your Apple developer account and generate an ad hoc distribution certificate with those devices
Build and archive with the ad hoc profile
Upload the ipa and the profile to your webserver

How do I distribute ad hoc OTA apps without the .mobileprovision?

I followed a set of instructions from multiple sources about how to deploy apps ad hoc without the need for itunes; however, I ran into a discrepancy. I got the necessary distribution certificate, made an ad hoc provisioning profile, used the profile to build and archive, shared the app, filled out the necessary fields, uploaded the .ipa and .plist files to my server, and tested. I couldn't install the app because there was no provisioning profile on the device. I uploaded the provisioning profile, tried downloading it from the device, and it worked. Now I can download and install the apps without connecting to my computer.
However, when testing on a different device, the app refused to run. I found out that it was because the mobile provisioning file was refusing to install, and that was because developer mode was not turned on on the device. I then found out that in order to turn on developer mode I have to connect to a computer.
Is there a way around this issue, to either turn on developer mode without connecting to a computer, or to not need the provisioning profile installation installed, or to somehow install the provisioning profile on the device without developer mode on?
I don't see a mention of developer mode or the provisioning profile on this page: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#featuredarticles/FA_Wireless_Enterprise_App_Distribution/Introduction/Introduction.html
What am I missing here? Thanks.
Archive your app with the profile having all the device UDID's that you want to support. This should solve your problem.
TestFlightApp.com
You can distribute ad hoc (limited to 100 devices) or enterprise (deploying custom apps company-wide > 100 devices). Plus, Apple just acquired them so either their service will get even better or they'll integrate it with Xcode 6.
Using TestFlight at work and it's amazing! Track who downloads you builds, gather feedback, import the TestFlight SDK and it will even report crashes.

Why I can't add Apps into LionServer's ProfileManager

Today I install Lion Server.app in my OS(Mac OS X 10.7.3(Lion)) and configure the server. After that I enroll my devices into the ProfileManager.
Try to push the Profile to my devices and control it is ok.
I want to add the App to my devices.(Distribution for Enterprise),but it doesn't work at all.

You can't use Profile Manager for Enterprise Application delivery - you need to use either a 3rd Party MEAP solution like Apperian or you could sign up to Apple's Enterprise Application Developer Program and host the apps off an internal webserver and delivery URLs via Webclips from Profile Manager.
that is not my experience at all, I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and I am able to add my ipa files into profile manager. to generate my ipa from xcode I simply make sure that I have the proper certificate for my distribution cert, and I check my release scheme is selected, next I choose archive and I check the option box that says enterprise distribution. if you select enterprise distribution, you need to provide the details for your plist file (location, app title and png file) more info on Apple's website...

which provisioning profile is required so that any user has access to install app on their iphone?

I want to post my iphone app on my website and users will be downloading it from my site.
which provisioning profile is required so that any user has access to install app on their iphone?(I cant go for appstore for distribution ).
Thanks in Advance.
This can be done only through an enterprise distribution program. You can create a "In-house" distribution profile, that can be installed on any iOS device. However it is supposed to be used by employees of an enterprise only. You can't post it on any public website, available to download for anyone.
You should have a Distribution Provisioning profile.
You can create AdHoc certificate for an Application and have your clients/users install them on their device.
P.S. :It has device limit of 100.

What is an Ad Hoc certificate for iOS test app distribution?
Another option is TestFlight to distribute your application among your clients.

how do I give a provisioning app to another person?

I have a developed an iphone application. The web service was developed by someone who is remote and does not have a developer account / xcode etc. He does have iTunes though.
Is there a way for me to allow his iphone to install the application without him having to create a developer account, have xcode etc? A way to make the application available to his iTunes would be ideal.
Is this possible?
Many thanks,
Fidel
Get his iPhone device UDID. Then create a distribution profile for ad-hoc distribution and add his UDID to the profile. Create a distribution build of your app and sign with that distribution profile. Send over the build .app and the .mobileprovision (provisioning profile) to him. He will have to install the profile first via iTunes (drag and drop to Library section and then sync) and then similarly he can install the app once the profile is successfully installed.

Distributing iPhone apps under Enterprise program

I'm trying to figure out more details on how apps are distributed to users when under the Enterprise developer program. The Enterprise Deployment Guide states:
If you develop an application that you want to distribute yourself, it must be digitally signed with a certificate issued by Apple. You must also provide your users with a distribution provisioning profile that allows their device to use the application.
What I want to know is how is the provisioning profile is created so that a specific device is allowed to use the app? Is this done by adding device UDIDs into the profile as per the standard developer program? Or some other means?
Provisioning profiles are managed thanks a website provided by Apple. It will be possible to generate and download Provisioning profiles from this website.
Then, if you sign an application with the Enterprise program licence, you will be able to install it on any device. You just have to send to the user your application and the provisioning profile.
