Recently I started working on Orchard CMS.
I am able to create a layer with "Layer Rule" like "not url '~/some-page-url'". What my question is "is it possible to combine Layer Rule with User Role. I tried like this 'authenticated(admin)' but it is not working as i expected.
What i did: Created a simple page with title "Test Page" and created a Navigation say "Only Admin". In Widget page i choose "Authenticated Layer" and "edit" in layer rule, i changed "authenticated" to "authenticated(admin)".
Expected: Only when ever admin login the menu which i ve created is to be shown in the front end. and none other user login menu has to be hide.
"Im in the correct way or not can some one guide me in the right path."
PS:Sorry for my english.
This functionality is not supported out of the box but there is a module on the gallery that offers it:
Role Layer Rule
This rule now exists in Orchard core since v1.10.
It was casually added in as a conversion of features in the old rules engine and not even the main developers remembered it was in there haha.

So I have a resource (aka Maveoc) named Department that is configured as Visible in Menu.
In the generated app, the link to this resource/Maveoc is visible to all users, including those that do not have the permissions to access it.
From a security point of view, this is not a problem since it's not possible for the users to access that page.
It would be however nice to hide the link for the users that do not have access to it.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks.
That's exactly what the boolean :check_access option in link_to_action does.
In graphical mode or if you specify a view's options, just check the checkbox.
Feel free to browse /macros_references in the Designer.
We know it's a tedious read for now: feedback is welcome,
and be sure that our V3 will have a much cleaner doc page.
I need for certain users to only be able to create pages in certain categories based on their permissions. One reason for this is approvals ("flagged revisions"). If a user can create content outside of any category, then it could show up live on the web site. Even thought it wouldn't initially be linked anywhere directly in an existing page (except other unapproved pages) this can still be a problem.
I can prevent the user from creating a new page in the global scope (apparently this corresponds simply to "edit" permissions as I don't see a special permission for creating new pages), and then I can grant them permission to edit pages in the category their group is authorized to edit. But I can no longer see the "Menu:Wiki:Create a Wiki Page" option, and I can't figure out how to allow the user to create a new page in that category.
I can edit the group and set the "Default category assigned to uncategorized objects edited by a user with this default group" to the desired category. When I do that, a user in that group now has a "Create a Wiki Page" option show up in the Menu:Wiki sub-menu, but clicking on that does not bring up a new page for editing; instead if just brings up a list of existing wiki pages, without the option to create a new one!
If I create a link to the new page from an existing page, I am unable to edit it in any way. Clicking the link takes me to a page which indicates that the page does not exist, but which does not provide any way to edit it. Putting the title of the page directly in the URL, as in tiki-editpage.php?page=New+Page+Name brings up a "You do not have permission to edit this page" error page. Since any new page created by the user should have the category they have permission to edit, this does not make sense unless the category isn't set until after the initial edit permission check occurs, which creates a catch-22!
How do I let the user create a new page in any of the categories they have permissions to edit in?
If Categories are not the best tool for the task that's okay too. I don't really understand the difference between Categories and Structures with regards to which is better for what I'm trying to accomplish, however it seems Categories are the more "native" feature, which is why I am trying to use them.
Here my question : How can I show, on a page, all the comments I received from a custom form throught Orchard CMS ?
If your not sure to understand my question, here an example of what I want :
Create a Guestbook with a new Content Type named "Gestbook". Add two fields (the name and the comment). Once add it on Forms tab, add comments into the new guestbook page into your website. After that, how can I show them after approved it throught dashboard ?
Thank you very much,
David
Click on "submissions" on the right of the form in the Forms section of the admin to see what got added by users. You can also trigger additional actions from the Rules module.
I would like to create a login screen for registered members on front page of the site without using members module. As I can see I can create a member and assign login credentials at back-end ( I don't have member module). Basically the idea is:
visiting: www.domain.com will give you login screen. When logged in it will redirect you or open new page.
I'm not looking to buy a module or extension. If something already exist I will be happy to use it.
Can anyone help?
You "don't have the members module"? How is that possible - it comes with the default install! So, something does already exist - it's called the Login Form tag.
So is the question how to create a login form on the front end of the site, or how to keep non-logged in users from viewing a specific template?
If it's the latter you can set access privileges at the template level. Look for the "Access" link by each template in the Template Manager, click that and you'll see your member groups and an option for what template to display if they aren't logged in. Typically that's a login template using the Login Form tags mentioned earlier.
I've made some facebook pages before, but I'm running in to a problem that I haven't had before. Usually, when someone asks me to dev a facebook page for them, it's linked to an account and all I have to do is add the developer app, make a few apps for the links on the side bar, then navigate to the apps I created and click 'add to my page'.
For some reason, this person today gave me their log-in and their account isn't really 'real' so-to-speak. I'm navigated to the page they created upon log-in and there is nothing else loaded, not even a search bar. I was able to add the developer app by navigating to Edit Info (search bar popped up). However I am unable to add any apps to this account. The 'Add to My Page' does not show up on any app pages I navigate to. Is this because the account doesn't really exist? There is a "Create Your Profile" link up near the Settings/Logout buttons.
Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there another way for me to add apps/sidebar tabs with an account like this?
I was thinking of telling the person to register the account fully since "If you create a profile for your business, your account may be disabled for violating our Terms of Use."
Let me know if any of you have any insight.
Thanks!
facebook changes as usual
try my "fix" # http://admine.eu/addapp.html
here is part of the source and actually all you need:
window.open(
"http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=" +
document.getElementById("appid").value +
"&next=" +
document.getElementById("appurl").value,
"PageTab","width=1000,height=300"
)
+document.getElementById("appid") is the id of your app
+document.getElementById("appurl") is the canvas or tab URL of your app
I run into this too. Sometimes as when a client adds me as an admin I have to like the app I made on its profile page then switch to page mode and go to edit the page>apps and it shows up in my list of apps.
If you have already added it once it may already be in that list as well but doesn't show up in the left navigation until you add it as a tab in the app settings while in Page mode.
I find that if there are more than 8 tabs in the navigation already FB won't automatically add it to the left nav.

I've put together a javascript snippet that is intended to be used as a bookmarklet. If you use the bookmarklet while on an application's page in the developers section, a new window will automatically open with the add to page-dialog. To use it, just copy the minified code from the repository below and create a new bookmark for "javascript:[the code]" (without the quotation marks).

Hopefully this will help some until Facebook cleans up their current, quite messy, solution.
Simple to use:
http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=APP_ID&next=http://www.facebook.com
