How to prevent value of javafx ComboBox from being modified? - javafx-8

I want the user to set the value by selecting an item from the ComboBox drop-down list. Once a value is assigned, thereafter he must not be able to modify it.

Would something simple like this suffice?
ComboBox<String> comboBox = new ComboBox<>();
comboBox.getItems().add("Item 1");
comboBox.getItems().add("Item 2");
comboBox.valueProperty().addListener((e) -> {
comboBox.setDisable(true);
});
This will disable the ComboBox upon the user selecting a value. You could even override the CSS to make the combobox appear as normal.

How to select a treeItem in a treeView, after checking a Condition on that treeItem, in Javafx

I have downloaded familyTree project and it doesn't have the ability to search for an specific family member!
I have added a search button to it, and in the handler method section, I need the code that searches for a member that has the specified socialID , and select it (scroll it to the sight, and make it blue (selected)). But I don't know how to programmatically select a treeItem, and make it visible and selected?
My code:
#FXML
private void btnSearch_click(ActionEvent event){
for(TreeItem<FamilyMember> treeItem:root.getChildren()){
if(treeItem.getValue().getNationality().toString()=="22"){
// treeView.setSelectionModel(item);
treeView.getSelectionModel().select(treeItem);
//it still doesnt select the item with nationality=="22"
break;
}
}
}
You can select the item with
treeView.getSelectionModel().select(item);
and if you still need to scroll (I think selecting it might automatically scroll to it), do
treeView.scrollTo(treeView.getRow(item));
A couple of notes:
I do not understand the for loop. Why are you doing
TreeItem<FamilyMember> item = root.getChildren().get(i);
and why are you creating the index i? What is wrong with the treeItem variable you already defined in the loop syntax? Isn't this necessarily exactly the same thing as item?

In GWT need to set the value of list box to the one,that was was selected in other selection

I have a full search panel with listbox whose value are read from DB.when a item in listbox selected and search is made.If the results are not found the search panel is condensed (one more search panel) and in condensed search ,we can change the search criteria ,selected a different item in the list box .after changing the search criteria and if search is made ,when the full search panel appears,the value of the list box in full search panel should be same as the one changed/selected in the condensed search panel.
How can we accomplish this.
In simple - If i have two list boxes, load a list box and set the value of the listbox same the other listbox.If value of one listbox is changed, the other should be changed and the value of this listbox is set with the value selected in the previous one.
I would do the following
//you have something like this
ListBox listbox1;
ListBox listbox2;
//add a change handler
listbox1.addChangeHandler(new ChangeHandler() {
#Override
public void onChange(ChangeEvent event)
{
int index = listbox1.getSelectedIndex();
//do your update code here for listbox2
//like a listbox2.setSelectedIndex(index) or something
}
As far as I see its an easy implementation. Add a value change handler on the first listbox and do whatever you want in onChange method.
Regarding your panel need to be collapsed when there is no search results, you can always use vertical panel and set its height to 100% and add another panel to it or Use Dock Panel and add panels to south or best use disclosure panel and play around with it.

GWT: How to know if my listbox selected index changed

I have a listbox ,which have two values value1 and value 2 ..
Now my listbox values got change programatically (I dont change the values Manually)
I want to get a prompt prompt whenever a value get changes / index get changed, inside my listbox
ListBox listBox = new LisBox();
if i use
listBox.addClickHandler
or
listBox.addChangeListener
or
listBox.addChangeEvent
They all only shows me a prompt when i manually change my listbox selected Index.But how will i get a prompt when my listbox selectedIndex changed programatically
Thanks
I am assuming that you are using
setSelectedIndex
The javadoc says explicitly states that it will not send an event. You could overwrite setSelectedIndex and send your own event. A good explaination of doing so can be found here.

Cannot uncheck checkbox in smartgwt listgrid

I'm breaking my head since a whole day now but cannot find a solution, I hope someone can help me.
I'm trying to create a simple SmartGWT ListGrid with checkboxes and for some reason I can only check checkboxes but not uncheck them.
Once the checkbok is checked there is no way to uncheck it.
Below the code I'm using to create the grid.
Here I first instantiate the grid that is populated later with a call to the server.
Any idea of what I'm doing wrong? Anything wrong with the initialisation maybe?
Thanks in advance!!
[...]
ListGrid hotelsGrid = new ListGrid();
hotelsGrid.enableHiliting(false);
hotelsGrid.setCanSort(false);
hotelsGrid.setCanResizeFields(false);
hotelsGrid.setShowHeader(false);
hotelsGrid.setAutoFitData(Autofit.BOTH);
hotelsGrid.setStyleName("selectGrid");
hotelsGrid.setCanEdit(false);
hotelsGrid.setShowHover(false);
hotelsGrid.setShowRollOver(false);
hotelsGrid.setShowSelectedStyle(false);
hotelsGrid.setSelectionAppearance(SelectionAppearance.CHECKBOX);
[...]
private void initGrid(String[] sParams){
ListGridField flagField = new ListGridField("flagField", "Status", 40);
flagField.setAlign(Alignment.CENTER);
flagField.setType(ListGridFieldType.IMAGE);
flagField.setImageURLPrefix("flags/");
flagField.setImageURLSuffix(".png");
ListGridField textField = new ListGridField("textField", "Meaning");
hotelsGrid.setFields(flagField, textField);
hotelsGrid.setData(getSelectRecords(sParams));
}
It's not clear how your code sample above is related to a clickable checkbox - your code doesn't make any attempt to create a field with checkboxes??
All you need to do to get a clickable checkbox is declare a field of type "boolean" and setCanToggle(true). setCanToggle(true) allows it to be toggled with one click without needing to have editing enabled for any other fields.

How to add a custom selection Handler to a celltable

I want to add a special selection model to the celltable. Basically the function i want to have is to select a row on the table which is located on left side, a corresponding form will pop up on the right side.
I know so many people will use the singleSelectionModel with SelectionChangeHandler.
But there is problem with this method.
For example, if I select row 1 on the table. the form pop up. I close the form by clicking the close-button. Later then, I select the row 1 again, the event is not fired, because it is SelectionChangeHandler. I have to select other row before doing this. This is no good.
So I think there are a few ways to do this:
Make the row deselected right after I select the row.
Use click handler to fire the event ( to pop up the form)
Use other selection model with other selection handler to do this. (I have no ideas about this though)
So my questions are,
Does anyone know what kind of other selection handler I can use for this.
If I use the click handler on celltable, will there be any problem?
I just want to learn more about this. So any ideas will be welcome.
Thanks a lot.
Best Regards.
Use NoSelectionModel. It won't update the table view after the row is selected. That is, even if the same row is selected, the change event is fired.
//Here 'Contact' is the datatype of the record
final NoSelectionModel<Contact> selModel = new NoSelectionModel<Contact>();
selModel.addSelectionChangeHandler(new Handler() {
#Override
public void onSelectionChange(SelectionChangeEvent event) {
Contact clickedObject = selModel.getLastSelectedObject();
GWT.log("Selected " + clickedObject.name);
}
});
table.setSelectionModel(selModel);
I have using cell table in my each project. The better way to just deselect row manually as u mention. and make change css such as selected cell table's row look not changed after selection.
