Visio connector labels at the start of a connector line rather than the middle - visio

Can I configure a Visio diagram so that the labels on connectors, by default, appear at the beginning of the line rather than the middle.
I know that text labels can be moved by the "text block" tool (accessed using Shift-Ctrl-4); I'm talking about changing the default behaviour of the Visio diagram.
In the case of a flowchart diagram decision box, it makes far more sense (to me) to have the labels at the beginning of a line.

The normal behaviour of the Dynamic connector and similar masters, is that the text block position is positioned by the Controls.TextPosition X and Y values.
Normal Dynamic connector text position
Therefore, you can edit your "Dynamic connector" master in the Document stencil to default the text block at the start of the line by setting Controls.TextPosition.X and Y to 0

Miscoloured lines in rule-based layer styling in QGIS

I'm styling a vector layer of roads and have noticed that a small subset of lines appear to be going 'rogue' and ignoring their line colour styling. They still obey the line stroke and width style however but insist on being yellow instead of the desired colour.
I've added a separate rule for one of them and it definitely 'catches' the correct line segment and restyles it in every way EXCEPT for the colour which stubbornly remains yellow.
Can anyone provide me with any clues as to what is going on here?
That line (or lines) are "selected" - You have one of the selection tools active and have clicked on the line. See the manual for more details, you need to click on the clear selection tool
to remove it.

stretch underbrace vertically word

use Microsoft Word to edit an equation with underbrace. The line is as follows:
\underbrace(ab+cdf-edf=9dc/ereat+asdfdgg-asfeefe-eafdgahty+atataeaattrat)
The problem is the symbol for underbrace is very flat, looking like a line with the downward pointing part too small to see. Is there a way to make it larger (e.g., is there a way to stretch the underbrace VERTICALLY)? The size of underbrace is set automatically in Latex and looks fine. But in Microsoft Word, the default just does not look especially when you have a long equation. I am not sure if there is a setting allowing you to change it. Many thanks! Gene

Word Styles to get two elements to share same background/border

Within MS Word 2013 I am trying to create a text element plus a list underneath it, all wrapped inside a coloured border with background shading (see image). The attached image shows the text in plain form.
I would like to place a blue border around both the title and the list. I can achieve this by placing both objects within a 1x1 table and applying colouring rules to the cell, but semantically this seems bad (I'm from an HTML development background where it is very wrong!)
When I edit a Style rule to create the border/background, it works well until I create the list, then it goes badly wrong. Is it possible to achieve the output of the table cell approach by only using a style rule and no table?
After a day of experimentation, the closest I can get is by doing the following:
Create a style rule called Tips Heading based on Normal, then set it to be Bold with a blue background.
Create another style rule called Tips List based on List Paragraph, and set it to have a blue background.
Unfortunately the List cannot be indented because the background colour also indents. The border is also affected in this manner, so I ignored the border and indentation. It works really well and is semantically well structured.

How to display callbacks in sequence diagrams Visio 2013?

I want to sketch a sequence diagram including callbacks. Poorly Visio 2013 transforms my arrows / messages in dashed return messages. How can I disable this behavior?
Here is a minimal example. All Messages are inserted as Messages, two of them were transformed to return messages, but only one correctly. Selecting the wrong arrow and change it to non-dashed line style has no effect.

I found a workaround. It is possible to rotate the connector element on Z-axis about 180°. This destroys the vector behavior on PDF export and has still the wrong semantic, but seems to be a cosmetic solution.

Visio 2010: can one change predefined shapes into others?

I am drawing a visio diagram and would like to change (i.e. reduce) the radius of the corners of some of my rounded boxes.
I searched the program's help and googled for >1/2 hour but can't find any hint on how to achieve this - at least none that works.
The context dialog shows a Rounded corner section (Right-click => Format => Line), but any change done there has no effect whatsoever. Does one maybe have to "unprotect" these settings? If so: how?
Any expert who knows how to change the corners' radius?
Later Edit: I just realized: I had used a flow chart symbol "Rounded Process" instead of a plain vanilla rounded box to draw this diagram. That's why I can't change these corners!
Is there an elegant way to globally change a shape into another type, i.e. these flowchart shapes into plain vanilla boxes? Ideally while keeping the associated text?

not without coding.
However, I'm pretty sure that Sandrilla has a ready to use tool.
It's available for reasonable money. http://www.sandrila.co.uk/
You can create your own shape in such situation, you can can create your own Stencil and then add the your predefined shapes into it. To add the predefined shapes into the stencil just follow the procedure
Select the shape from an existing Stencil and Right click on it
From the Menu select 'Add to My Shapes'
Create New stencil or add it to an existing Stencil.
Now you can edit the master shape but before that you have to put the Stencil in the Edit mode.
Right click on the newly added shape in the Stencil and click 'Edit Master' -> 'Edit Master Shape'
You can now modify the Shape as per your need , for ex. If you want to edit the Corner of the Shape then you right click on the Shape in the Master and then Select 'Format' - > 'Line' and then select type of corner from the 'Round corner' section.
