how to extend the window on Chromebook with dual monitors? - google-chrome-app

I am trying to create a single chrome app to display(by using 3840x1080 resolution) on both monitors.
when I try to move a window, from one monitor to other, I am able to see only half of the window on one screen. Is there any settings to make it work like extended monitors

This was apparently a limitation of Chrome OS.
Keyword was: this bug is marked as Verified (fixed) in May. However, see this comment:
Please note that this feature was developed for specific enterprise use case, and will always be behind a flag. In other words, this will not be on by default for general use.
You can enable it using about:flags starting from M44 though.
So, to use this, you apparently need to set the "Enable unified desktop mode" flag in chrome://flags/. I can't confirm since I don't have a Chrome OS device to test.

Assign command to the central soft button within javaMe

I have the mobile javaMe application that has been working on Nokia Phones. However, now I'm porting it to Samsung 5611, and I've faced with such a problem: no command is assigned on the central soft button, all of them are contained in the right-button menu. When the same midlet was launched on Nokia 3110c, one command was placed on central button, other ones (if >=2) were grouped into the options menu.
I tried Item.setDefaultCommand (no effect) and Display.getInstance().setThirdSoftButton(true) (such method not supported in SDK 3.4). Also I tried to change the type of one command to Ok or Screen, and change the priority, everything is without success.
Thanks in advance. Any idea will be helpful.
Sadly there's no way for the developer to decide exactly on which softbuttons the commands belong. It is the individual device that decides. Some devices has two softbuttons, and some has three.
You can fiddle a bit with priorities, but you still can't force commands to specific softbuttons.
That's high-level GUI (Form) for you.
If you want to have control of such things, you need to go with low-level GUI (Canvas / GameCanvas). Nowadays there are several APIs you can use to create Form-like low-level GUI. Check out LWUIT for example, which I imagine makes it easy for you to port your high-level code into low-level.
But even when using low-level coding, you have to be aware of different devices having different keycodes for the softbuttons.

IE11 F12 Developer Tools on Windows 7 functionality missing/not working?

I was using IE10 on Windows 7 but it is such a buggy piece of you-know-what (hanging, crashing, etc.) that I gave up and installed IE11. It has not hung or crashed since installing. But I hate the F12 developer tools! Okay, not completely - there are some very cool new features. What I don't like is that they seem to have dropped several features that I really liked! Unless I'm just missing something... I've searched and searched on Google and Microsoft but all of the help I've found only describes the new features. Here is what I'm missing: Color picker, Ruler, and most of all, the Clear browser cache for this domain. They allege to have a Clear browser cache function, but it doesn't work! So when I make changes to my website, in particular changing graphics, the only way I can see the change is to delete all my temporary files from IE. Then I lose all of my cookies e.g. for automatically logging in to Stack Overflow! IE version 11.0.9600.16428 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
The color picker is still available, go to the DOM Explorer tab and there is an eye dropper on the tool bar at the top towards the left. That activates the color picker.
For the issue of serving cached files try toggling on "Always refresh from server" on the network tool (3rd option from the left). This should get you the latest changes from your server.

MATLAB r2013a on Mac OS 10.8.3 crashes when viewing documentation

(Running MATLAB 8.1.0.604 (R2013a), Mac OS 10.8.3)
When I use the doc command, for example, doc fwrite;, or when I click the "more help" item in the popup help bubble for a command, the documentation window opens, but MATLAB subsequently hangs (the spinning beachball appears). This lasts indefinitely, and I inevitably have to force quit MATLAB. This also happens when using the Publish option from the editor.
Anyone have any ideas for diagnosing this? I tried taking a process sample but I didn't see any info I could interpret, I think since it's in Java the relevant information is obfuscated behind the JVM.
See this post on MatlabCentral: http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/71718 ... and more specifically this bug report which includes a "workaround." They don't suggest what could be the cause, but you might make sure that OS X is updated and that you have the latest version of Java. If you do other work with Java or with WebKit these might cause issues.
I hope you have already solved the problem. Otherwise a solution has been found, the bug resides in the Access for Assistive devices (only for version 2012b and later). If you can turn them all off from System Preferences, do that. If you can't, type this in the command window:
com.mathworks.mlwidgets.html.HtmlComponentFactory.setBrowserProperty('JxBrowser.BrowserType','Mozilla15');
From http://www.mathworks.com/support/bugreports/870843
I had the same problem with Matlab R2014a on OS 10.10.4. For me the solution involved disabling Cinch (a window management tool I had installed). This can be done by clicking on the Cinch icon in the menu bar then Disable Cinch, or from System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Accessibility (as MarcoB detailed in his answer).
More suitable as comments (but I don't have enough rep yet):
I just updated to Java 1.8.0_73 and to Safari 9.1 and the patch horchler posted no longer works.
MarcoB's command still works for fixing the crashes. But with this, no longer retina resolution in the Doc browser (so it looks ugly).

Are there more explicit commands/toolbars and feedback for Eclipse for Android?

I'm new to Eclipse. I may need a better understanding or a plugin that would provide me with features described below. While doing some Android development, and I while making changes to my code at one point Eclipse warned me that this emulator doesn't support hot-swapping and if I want to disconnect. I'm used to see status in either the toolbar or in some log from Visual Studio. Is there a way to see this feedback in Eclipse?
My problem is that there are quite much implicit stuff in eclipse I would like get feedback of and control, like whether I'm
connected or not to a device,
if I'm attached to a process on it or not with debugger,
some kind of build log with a timestamp so I know it happened,
the automatic uninstalling and installing of the project on the device
which project is "active" ("featured") in "Run" and "Debug" buttons/configurations
Is there a plugin that can give me explicit commands over these automatic features? Like a toolbar or command. What I would expect of this tool:
be able to indicate the current status (eg. currently connected or not)
gives me control to eg. connect
gives me control to eg. disconnect
Preferably on a toolbar, as I know some of these are available as menu commands.
Furthermore I tried to configure my toolbar by Window menu -> Customize perspective..., but pin-pointing the features I want made my Eclipse put empty space up for the buttons I disabled, and next time I got to the same config screen it got the checkboxes wrong and displayed some stuff active what was actually disabled.

How to remove codes generated by plugins from Chrome browser developers tool?

I'm using Google Chrome Developers tool and console while developing and debugging my web applications.
I've some Chrome plugins/extensions installed. These plugins/extensions add extra markups and scripts in the pages while rendering them in the browser, and when I view my codes in the developers tool, makes it a lot messy.
I want a clean way to view my codes without those extra markups.
So is there a way to toggle (disable/enable) the plugins quickly, or in the best way, to disable them in a particular tab? I've several plugins/extensions installed and I don't think it's a good idea to disable and then re-enable them manually.
Besides, I may want to use a plugin/extension while I'm browsing other websites on other tabs simultaneously.
There's no mechanism to disable an extension for a specific tab, or specific host. You could hack something together via the management API that would disable extensions when you hit a specific URL, but that disabled state would be global, not local.
Extensions don't, however, run in Incognito mode (unless you explicitly whitelist them via a checkbox at chrome://extensions): that might be a decent workaround for you. Load your in-development site in Incognito, work with it there in a clean environment, and pop back into your regular window for normal browsing.
You could, of course, accomplish the same thing by setting up a specific profile for development in which you simply didn't install extensions.
These are workarounds, of course. You should feel free to file a feature request for more granular user-side control over when extensions are loaded: http://new.crbug.com/
Would running 2 separate instances of Chrome be of help for you?
(You can start 2 unrelated Chrome browser instances from a command line specifying different user directories: chrome --user-data-dir=userdata1 & chrome --user-data-dir=userdata2 )
I haven't tried it for your usecase, but it sounds reasonable.
