I am brand new to JBoss Developer Studio and can't seem to get past something that seems as though it would be simple. I am building the front end of my Web application using Sencha ExtJS 6.0. This framework contains hundreds of client side files that I don't need validated.
However, no matter what I have tried I cannot turn off the validation process that occurs before a build. Developer Studio always starts validating these files and eventually runs out of memory. Here is what I have tried:
I have selected Project -> Properties -> Validation and un-selected every single validator. When I click Apply or OK it starts validating. I cancel the validation process and in a few seconds it starts validating again.
Another thing I tried was going into Window -> Preferences -> Validation and un-selected all validators. This didn't change anything either. I basically cannot work with my project now because Developer Studio starts validating on its own and eventually runs out of memory.
Like I said, I'm new to Developer Studio so I'm sure there is something basic that I'm missing here. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I am using JBoss Developer Studio 9.0.0.0GA.

I can't seem to find any information on whether a ReliableCollection, specifically ReliableQueue is persisted between debugging sessions in visual studio. It does not seem like it is. I think it's because the application is removed and then re-added during debugging. Can anyone confirm this?
Yes, the default behavior is to remove the deployed application after the debugger stops.
Fortunately, you can change this.
There are two ways this can be done: Launch your app from VS without
the debugger attached (Debug -> Start Without Debugging [Ctrl+F5]).
Obviously, this would require you to manually attach VS to your
service processes in order to debug them. When you detach VS from the
processes, VS will not remove the application in this scenario.
With
your Application (.sfproj) project selected in Solution Explorer, go
to the Properties window and change Application Debug Mode from
"Remove" to "Auto Upgrade". This prevents VS from removing the
application after debugging. However, it also causes another change in
behavior in that it will automatically upgrade your application each
time you launch it from VS. The added benefit of auto upgrade is that
your application state will be maintained across multiple launches
from VS. This may be desired or not. There is not a setting that
allows you to both prevent application removal and not do an auto
upgrade.
I'm completely new to source/version control and I recently decided to try out the Visual Studio online service (the renamed TFS online service). I ran into a problem and now I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or is the VSOnline service faulty.
Problem is as follows:
Completely working Windows phone 8 project. Compiler and debugger working as expected in VS13 ultimate (also in VS12 pro).
However, when I add the project to source control and check it in. Then check it back out it breaks.
Symptoms:
1) XAML markup not recognized. IntelliSense reports error for every single XAML tag, even fundamental tags like Phone:PhoneApplicationPage. These errors can be cleared if I change from debug to release mode, but they re-appear when I launch project next time.
2) Debug target not changeable. In the dialog where you can typically choose between device and different emulator modes there is only one option "start". Impossible to deploy app on actual device. "Start" always launches default emulator (which works fine, no bugs there), but you can't choose which emulator.
3) VS13 crashes when I try to open debug tab in project properties/settings.
4) Attempt to build the solution in VSonline fails.
I realize there is a possibility I'm doing something wrong. Never used source control before, but in my understanding I still should be able to handle the project completely normal after check-out. Restrictions to debugging or deploying to device would seem counter-productive to me.
And also the false errors and VS13 crashing in settings implies there is something broken.
Any opinion, advice or help will be hugely appreciated.
After few days of relentless effort I was able to solve the problem.
As I work from home and my own computer, I'm always logged in with my personal account.
And I was logged in visual studio with my work account which has the MSDN subscription.
This caused account clash and all the odd behavior. Logging out from all browser didn't help, it mysteriously kept my personal account always logged in. And I believe this is caused by Skydrive.
So I set up new user account for my work id, log in using that and all started working perfectly.
Bottom line: If you wish to use visual studio online or log in in VS, make sure you are logged in with same account on the computer.
From time to time I run into it. E.g., right now I can't see anything in my project but everything is OK in a sandbox project.
I've already found the bug. I used MapWidget before calling loadMapsApi (see the guide). But there might be something less obvious next time. It would be better if a web page gave an error message or some feedback.
What should I use?
I press Debug As -> Web Application. It allows me to use breakpoints and debug client code.
I'm new to Eclipse. I may need a better understanding or a plugin that would provide me with features described below. While doing some Android development, and I while making changes to my code at one point Eclipse warned me that this emulator doesn't support hot-swapping and if I want to disconnect. I'm used to see status in either the toolbar or in some log from Visual Studio. Is there a way to see this feedback in Eclipse?
My problem is that there are quite much implicit stuff in eclipse I would like get feedback of and control, like whether I'm
connected or not to a device,
if I'm attached to a process on it or not with debugger,
some kind of build log with a timestamp so I know it happened,
the automatic uninstalling and installing of the project on the device
which project is "active" ("featured") in "Run" and "Debug" buttons/configurations
Is there a plugin that can give me explicit commands over these automatic features? Like a toolbar or command. What I would expect of this tool:
be able to indicate the current status (eg. currently connected or not)
gives me control to eg. connect
gives me control to eg. disconnect
Preferably on a toolbar, as I know some of these are available as menu commands.
Furthermore I tried to configure my toolbar by Window menu -> Customize perspective..., but pin-pointing the features I want made my Eclipse put empty space up for the buttons I disabled, and next time I got to the same config screen it got the checkboxes wrong and displayed some stuff active what was actually disabled.

Difference I am finding in VB.Net and VB6 configuration with VSS are :
Code not getting Check In automatically when user try to edit code, without Check In Code.
Not allowing user to save changes and Check In code later after 1 or 2 days. User require Check In code before closing code.
Showing "Path/File access error:" for .vbp file.When user tries to save code on machine.
Allowing user to edit code without Check in when user opens the code first time.
I did all the settings mentioned in this link.
As MarkJ mentioned the vbp file is always saved when the application runs. You can cancel out of the dialog to run the project anyway but this is more hassle than just right clicking on the project root and checking out.
I am using Team Foundation Server with my VB6 projects and there is no auto check out in this either. I'm afraid you will have to live with it until you port the code the .NET
As I mentioned heredead link: WayBack version there is also a problem when you have some files or documents not in SourceSafe.
Specifically (as I still document here), when some of the files of a project are not associated with SourceSafe often no files have their SourceSafe status glyphs displayed.
The workaround I found was displaying the Add Files dialogue and then cancelling it. I offer my public domain add-in that automatically implements this workaround.
And BTW, make sure you install the latest VSS Service Pack.
