How to download and install sitecore - content-management-system

I want to explore sitecore CMS more however i am not able to download any trial or free version of sitecore.
Is there any community edition or free version provided by sitecore?

Sitecore software is available for the sitecore certified developers for tryout purpose ro you should be the sitecore partner. You could also purchase sitecore by contacting them. If you are an sitecore certified developer then the tool can be downloaded in sitecore developer portal.
There is no free or community edition for sitecore as of now.
Checkout my blog which lets you know on how to install and Configure Sitecore sitecore 8.1 CMS tool on windows machine.

No, you must be a Sitecore certified developer or work for a partner to install it.
You can find training here: http://www.sitecore.net/services-and-support/training/back-end-developers/wnd8-sitecore-website-development-for-net-developers.aspx
The site to download the goodies is here: https://dev.sitecore.net/
You will also need a license key which your parter company can give you.

IBM.Data.DB.Provider Nuget Package

I am using IBM.Data.DB.Provider Nuget package but I receive licensing error. as per License Details I simply have to copy a license file in the license folder of this Nuget Package. I wanted to know if I can acquire a Trail license for it to present my 'Proof of Concept' to our team. Once approved, our management will acquire a license from IBM.
Furthermore, I wanted to clarify that this Nuget Package (after fixing license issues) will not require any installation at all on our web farm because that's not permitted by our infrastructure team.
I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. A DB2 trial licence can be obtained for 90 days from IBM's website. I found the customer support very helpful. You can contact support using the yellow "Lets Talk" button in the bottom right.

Sitecore XP Mongo DB Configuration Issue

I installed newer version of Sitecore (Sitecore Experience Platform 8.1 rev. 151207 (8.1 Update-1)) and also installed Mongo DB(3.0.2) and both of them installed successfully. However I don't see any new databases created in MongoDB by Sitecore. I verified the connectionstrings.config and it has the correct path to Mongo DB(Example: mongodb://localhost:27017/analytics).
Since this is my local environment I am reusing the license of Sitecore 7.2 which also includes license for DMS. After digging through the log file I noticed this:
8944 20:39:58 INFO xDB is disabled.
8944 20:39:58 INFO Tracking is enabled.
After doing some research I didn't find Analytics.Enabled setting in Sitecore Analytics.config file or even in /sitecore/admin/showconfig.aspx file. Even after updating the config file with Analytics.Enabled = true it still says "XDB is Disabled".
Is there any setting that needs to be updated? Does the license file need to be updated separately for XP?
You will need to generate a new license for Sitecore 8.1, the older Sitecore license are not compatible:
Sitecore 8.1 now requires a license with the “Sitecore.xDB.base” key
to enable all features of the Experience Platform. If your license
file does not contain this key, Sitecore will default to Experience
Management (CMS-only) mode. Any customers or partners with a license
to Experience Platform should contact their account manager or login
to SPN if they are missing this key.
From the Sitecore download page.
You can generate a new license by logging into SPN and you need to make sure it is "xDB enabled"
In Sitecore 8.1, You have a new config file "Sitecore.Xdb.config" where you can enable/disable CMS Only mode, Make sure that the following setting is enabled in it:
Xdb.Enabled
https://doc.sitecore.net/sitecore_experience_platform/xdb_configuration/cmsonly_mode_configuration
Also, If you don't have a valid xDB license, CMS-Only mode is enabled by default.
After doing some digging from the above notes I found that we need to update the Sitecore license. After procuring a new license Sitecore was successfully able to create databases in Mongo.

MobileFirst Platform Foundation Server, Consumer Edition

I am trying to download MobileFirst Platform Foundation Server, Consumer Edition (MFPF_6.3_CE_INST_MGR_REP_MF_SVREN.zip). Can you please let me know where can I download this package from?
The consumer/enterprise edition of MobileFirst Platform is available to you only if you have purchased a license.
Until then you can download the Developer Edition from http://developer.ibm.com/mobilefirstplatform
Note that from a Studio (Eclipse) perspective there is no difference between the Developer Edition to the Consumer and Enterprise Editions. The Studio is the same Studio.
What you get in addition are server artifacts allowing you to run on dedicated application server as you move from development to production, and the ability to use features such as Application Authenticity Protection.
Of course, you are also bound legally to buy MobileFirst Platform of you intend to go to production. Contact IBM for that. Once you do that you will also get instructions how to download the additional artifacts.

How do I tell I have Standard or Professional Edition?

We're using DataDynamic ActiveReports .Net 3.0 on Windows-XP and we're looking to upgrade to the latest version for Windows-7. Then we ran into a problem. We could not tell which Edition (standard or professional) are we using. I tried Google search adn it wasn't very helpful. We looked in the "Program Files" and in the "Data Dynamics" folder, we found there's no executable file. So, we don't know what we have.
Thanks...
It depends on your serial number. The installation is the same for both releases. Email or call the ComponentOne sales team with you serial number (or if you don't have the serail, send the registered user or purchaser) and they can tell you which edition you have a license for.
Alternatively, if you have the product installed on a developer machine already you could try just using the features that are included only in the professional edition (e.g. WebViewer, End User Designer Control) to see if they are showing an "Evaluation" message or not. If they show an evaluation message when you run the product then you have Standard. If they don't, you have Pro.

What is the difference between Alfresco Community Edition and Alfresco Enterprise Edition?

What is the difference between Alfresco Community Edition and Alfresco Enterprise Edition ?
Any differences in both features it provides ?
Can we down load Enterprise edition with longer trial license ?
The Enterprise Edition is the commercially supported Edition. In addition to support, you also get patches, updates, indemnity, and access to certified partners. From a functionality standpoint, the software is virtually the same. There are a few things only available to Enterprise such as support for commercial databases and application servers, the XAM connector, and JMX.
Both Enterprise and Community are tested by our QA team. When it is time to distribute an Enterprise release, a branch is created. That branch undergoes additional testing and is frequently patched with fixes. These fixes go into the Enterprise release for that branch and are later merged back into the main code line so that they will be available in a future Community release.
Both Enterprise and Community are 100% open source. Community is distributed under the LGPLv3 license.
If you start an Enterprise Trial and you need to extend beyond your 30 day license you should talk to the account rep you are working with. Extensions can be granted.
Actually, as of the 4.1 releases, HA & clustering is no longer supported at all in the community. Research the forums and you will see that enterprise is the only way to go for enterprise deployments.
They say
Alfresco Enterprise Edition includes Document Management, Web Content Management, Share and the Content Platform. Records Management, as well as Enterprise add-ons such as clustering and a connector for content addressable storage can be added as an additional subscription on top of the base subscription.

thats wrong! the addons such as clustering are included in the community release. the difference is, that the enterprise version is the stable version with support and extensive tests
see: http://storage.pardot.com/1234/46851/Alfresco_Datasheet_Community_Network_eng.pdf
"No High-Availability Cluster Testing"
In my opinion, the Community Edition is generally sufficient to serve about 50 concurrent users. This should be good enough for most usage scenarios. The Community Edition has all the core features that the Enterprise Edition has. The only difference is, you do not get official technical support for the Community Edition from the company. However, Alfresco has a strong users community base that provides assistance when needed.
You can try Alfresco Community Edition by subscribing to hosted services offered at http://www.alfresco-fusion.com
After signing up you will be offered fully functional Alfresco Server at a very affordable monthly cost.
