I've recently downloaded Oracle SQL Developer 4.1.3 from Oracle Website
and this with JDK as well, but I tried to run in windows 10, it only goes 10% of progress bar, then disappeared. Can't run it at all?
SQL Developer 4.1.3 can connect to Oracle 11g db, right?
I've found 2 things most likely cause what you're experiencing:
video driver conflict with windows and Java - this is usually what happens to cause the program to just 'disappear.' If you open a CMD window, CD to your sqldeveloper\bin directory, and run the exe from there, you should see some sort of Java 'crash' stack when the GUI goes away suddenly. And in there, you'll see a reference to a windows dll that belongs to the video driver. if that's the case, update that driver, and you should be good
the application settings for your OS user are corrupted. To fix, find your AppData, Roaming Profiles folder for 'SQL Developer' - there should be a system4.1.3... folder in there - rename it, and restart sql developer.

I am trying to install PostgreSQL 12.3 version using installer from here, my system runs on Windows 10 (64bit). I did this procedure on different laptops (running on win10 64bit) and didn't encounter any problems until now. When I download installer and double-click on it, I am asked for administrator permissions (I grant permission to install software). After that, EDB Postgres logo appears on the screen for a few seconds and disappears and this is it. Nothing else is happening. In normal way after logo disappear, Postgres Installer should launch asking where to install, what port to use and other similar questions, but in my case it doesn't happen. I now that I can use Zip archive to install Postgresql manually, (I found how to do it in this answer), but this answer skips most important part - configuration.
Also I tried older versions of installers and every time I ended up with same result - loads only EDB Postgres logo...
I have been trying to install Oracle SQL Developer on my 64bit Windows 8.1 machine. I have tried to install it with the embedded jdk and without the jdk. when I remove Java and I start SQL Developer it comes up and asks for the location of Java, I then tell it where it is. In either situation when starting SQL Developer it come up and starts to install for about 10 seconds, the progress bar says loading and the SQL Developer screen goes away with no errors and no explaniation. I have been trying this for days. I have removed and redownloaded all files and I get the same result.
Please if anyone can help I would be grateful. I need this for my course and I am unable to get anything completed.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
I had the same problem. I created an account with Oracle, accept the Terms and licences agreement. Search for the version you are trying to install and make sure it is the right one for the OS, 32 OR 64 bits with JDK 8. After extracting the files make sure you run as Admin, your SQL will complete installing. When you are installing they go into a default folder in C-drive or you can choose the path. Hope it helps.
I have developed an application in Lightswitch 2012, and now need to deploy it to a desktop PC running XP SP3.
I have already looked at two previous posts Can't run Lightswitch 2012 Programm under Windows XP and
Lightswitch Desktop Application Wont Install in XP SP3
The two posts both refer to executing [editbin vslshost.exe /SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS,5.01 /OSVERSION:5.1] to modify the vslshost.exe file, though only the first post says it worked.
In my case, I have tried the above to update the vslshost.exe file, but when I publish my LS2012 project it reverts back to the default vslshost.exe file. And if I manually swap the file with the copy I modified, when I run the deployed app I get the following error:
System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (HashValidation)
- File, vslshost.exe, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.
- Source: System.Deployment
So, the questions are
am I doing something wrong?
is there a master copy of vslshost.exe I need to update instead?
(BTW, I also ran the VS2012 (KB270250 from VS2012 Update 1 CTP 4))
Thanks for your help
As this is an internal company app, I have just convinced our IT guy to upgrade the machine, because the certain grief of trying the different possible solutions was just too much.
BUT if you MUST deploy to XP
To find out more, here are two pretty exhaustive posts with input directly from the Lightswitch team:

Enjoy....(???)
I have Windows 7 64bit. I had Sql Server 2008 R2 Express installed. I unistalled it and then I tried to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Web. Unfortunatelly on the Setup Support Rules page for 'Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys' I got 'Failed'. I spent half of a day trying to solve it, but then I assumed that there must be realy something wrong with registry keys and it will be faster just to reinstall Windows.
After formatting the disk and reinstalling Windows 7, rebooting dozen of times I installed all Windows upadtes as well. I also did install some programs like Skype, Thundirbird etc. which has no influence on Sql Server setup.
And then I tried again to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Web. And again an error. A bit different one. Now when the setup is on the Setup Support Rules page I get an error message box with the title "FixSqlRegistryKey_x86 - Application Error" and content: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. 'Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys' gets 'Failed' status as well.
My team mate has exactly the same machine as mine. He had no problem with installation (he didnt even need to reinstall Windows).
I run the setup as administrator, from a local folder. I even tried to use the setup files copied from my team mate, for a case if my copy is corrupted. In the setup options I have chosen the 'x64' version.
Any ideas what can be the reason of the problem?
Problem solved.
Someone suggested to me that Web edition should not be installed on Win 7 (just on Windows Server). So perhaps installing a different version would work. My team mate perhaps succeeded acidentially - due to having sql server installed already in express edition... but it is just a guess.
Before I tried to install another edition of SqlServer, I downloaded 2008 Express version and I started the install. From the temporary folder created by the express edition I copied FixSqlRegistryKey_x86.exe file and I had overwritten the problematic file in the Web setup with this file.
I started the setup again. It passed the verification this time. But has crashed on a later point - setup unpacks the installation files to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\SQLServer2008R2 and runs from it. So I needed to again overwrite the problematic file in this location. Now the installation succeeded.
I'm trying to install PGSQL 8.3 (and 8.4 and 9.0) on my work laptop. At the end of the installation, the installer complains it can't init the cluster. Investigating more, I noticed that the service is not even installed. I did use the "OneClick Installer", not the pgAdmin stand alone install. I tried installing as Administrator and as a regular user. In all the cases, the pgsql system account is created and the files copied, but the service is not.
I successfully installed PGSQL many times on my home PC. Both the laptop and desktop use Windows 7 64 bits (former is Professional, later is Ultimate). The only differences I can think of are that the laptop is part of an Active Directory and uses McAfee, while the desktop is only on a workgroup and uses Windows Security Essentials.
Are you sure the postgres user is allowed to create files in the data directory? The installer defaults to putting the data directory where the binaries are installed (e.g. c:\Program Files) which is usually not writeable by a regular user (and I never understood why the installer contains such an idiotic default).
McAffee could be an issue though. I have heard several stories about virus scanners infering with the Postgres (or other DBMS). Can you turn McAffee off - at least for the data directory?
Another problem could be that the installer is not able to create the postgres windows user (that is used to run the service).
If you are a local administrator on that machine, try to create the user before the installer does it. The installer will then not try to create the user account.
As a last ressort, you could install PostgreSQL without the installer (this is what I usually do).
Download the ZIP file from http://www.enterprisedb.com/products-services-training/pgbindownload
Unzip it into a convenient location
Run initdb (make sure you do that using the postgres user account - the one that is used to run the service later!)
run pg_ctlr register to create the Windows service
If any of those steps fails you'll see a proper error message which is not always the case with the installer.
Anti-virus is a well known issue:

PostgreSQL connection problems
(answer is from one the core developers)
Postgresql 8.4 and BitDefender 11
With earlier versions of PostgreSQL, I found I had to delete the user "postgres" before reinstalling would work. Not sure what versions had that problem, though.
