Sql Server 2008 R2 Web setup throws application error when starting FixSqlRegistryKey_x86.exe - sql-server-2008-r2

I have Windows 7 64bit. I had Sql Server 2008 R2 Express installed. I unistalled it and then I tried to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Web. Unfortunatelly on the Setup Support Rules page for 'Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys' I got 'Failed'. I spent half of a day trying to solve it, but then I assumed that there must be realy something wrong with registry keys and it will be faster just to reinstall Windows.
After formatting the disk and reinstalling Windows 7, rebooting dozen of times I installed all Windows upadtes as well. I also did install some programs like Skype, Thundirbird etc. which has no influence on Sql Server setup.
And then I tried again to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Web. And again an error. A bit different one. Now when the setup is on the Setup Support Rules page I get an error message box with the title "FixSqlRegistryKey_x86 - Application Error" and content: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. 'Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys' gets 'Failed' status as well.
My team mate has exactly the same machine as mine. He had no problem with installation (he didnt even need to reinstall Windows).
I run the setup as administrator, from a local folder. I even tried to use the setup files copied from my team mate, for a case if my copy is corrupted. In the setup options I have chosen the 'x64' version.
Any ideas what can be the reason of the problem?

Problem solved.
Someone suggested to me that Web edition should not be installed on Win 7 (just on Windows Server). So perhaps installing a different version would work. My team mate perhaps succeeded acidentially - due to having sql server installed already in express edition... but it is just a guess.
Before I tried to install another edition of SqlServer, I downloaded 2008 Express version and I started the install. From the temporary folder created by the express edition I copied FixSqlRegistryKey_x86.exe file and I had overwritten the problematic file in the Web setup with this file.
I started the setup again. It passed the verification this time. But has crashed on a later point - setup unpacks the installation files to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\SQLServer2008R2 and runs from it. So I needed to again overwrite the problematic file in this location. Now the installation succeeded.

PIA_INSTALL_FAIL during PeopleSoft Server Administration

I'm following the online installation example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ElSGLkprkY) to install PeopleSoft with PeopleTools on Windows 7 with SQLServer 2008 R2.
My PS and PT installation version differs from the online videos since I'm using most recent available versions:
PeopleSoft HM 9.2
PeopleTools 8.55
Tuxedo 12.1.3.0.0 with VS2012
WebLogic 12.1.3.0.0 64bit
JDK 7u55 x64
SQL Server 2008 R2
I could install each element with no error, excepted one VIEW during HC database creation (PS_EP_APPRMOB_PNDG), but I could re-create the view manually by slightly modifying the SQL query.
Now I'm trying to configure the Web (PIA) Server and I encounter an error while creating the domain. The piainstall_HC.log file contains following:
Tue Sep 20 09:48:32 CEST 2016:Starting PIA installation...
PS_HOME: c:\PT8.55
Install Action : CREATE_NEW_DOMAIN
Creating Domain...
Deploying Web Applications...
Deploying WebLogic Extension files...
Deploying PeopleSoft Site files...
Deploying PeopleSoft Site Doc files...
Completed.
PS_CFG_HOME: C:\PS_CFG_HOME
PIA_INSTALL_FAIL
After intensive googling, I found that some other people got a similar issue which was caused by a wrong version of the JDK: the JRockit jvm was required.
Of course I tried to use JRockit JDK 64bit, but I still get the same error. I also tried several other oracle JDK versions, among others the JDK 7u55 x64, which is provided with PeopleTools installation elements.
Unfortunately, I definitively get the same error and cannot find any other logfile which could give more information on the root cause.
Did someone experienced the same issue and could fix it ?
Thanks for help
I finally could fix the issue.
It seems that my error was to install the wrong weblogic version: originally, I installed weblogic by using the "setup_fmw_12.1.3.0.0_ohs_win64.exe" installer which was provided with PeopleTools.
It appears that the other one (fmw_12.1.3.0.0_wls.jar) was expected. After installing this version (with "Coherence"), the domain could be created successfully.

Error - Eclipse client trying to reconnect to TFS - "LocationWebService"

When eclipse tries to reconnect to TFS (username.visualstudio.com) the 'authentication window' is replaced by a window that seems to describe available services and the authentication process stops here.
The content of this window is as follows:
LocationWebService
The following operations are supported. For a formal definition, please review the Service Description.
ConfigureAccessMapping
Connect
QueryServices
RemoveAccessMapping
RemoveServiceDefinitions
SaveServiceDefinitions
SetDefaultAccessMapping
With VS2010 I can still connect to TFS without problems.
Also, both with eclipse and VS2010 I can connect to codeplex (tfs).
Clearing cookies and/or cache from IE or Chrome doesn't help.
Everything is fresh installed, so I assume it's up to date.
How can I resolve this issue with Eclipse - TFS - username.visualstudio.com?
I had to reinstall the 2013 version (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40785) and everything started working. It's either a bug in an older version or mismatch with the server version being connected to.
I have this issue too. It only happens when I try to connect myuser.visualstudio.com, with my domain TFS it can authenticate without any problem.
I see that you are running Windows 7, in my case the eclipse TFS stop working with Windows 8.

Lightswitch Desktop Application Wont Run in XP SP3

I have developed an application in Lightswitch 2012, and now need to deploy it to a desktop PC running XP SP3.
I have already looked at two previous posts Can't run Lightswitch 2012 Programm under Windows XP and
Lightswitch Desktop Application Wont Install in XP SP3
The two posts both refer to executing [editbin vslshost.exe /SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS,5.01 /OSVERSION:5.1] to modify the vslshost.exe file, though only the first post says it worked.
In my case, I have tried the above to update the vslshost.exe file, but when I publish my LS2012 project it reverts back to the default vslshost.exe file. And if I manually swap the file with the copy I modified, when I run the deployed app I get the following error:
System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (HashValidation)
- File, vslshost.exe, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.
- Source: System.Deployment
So, the questions are
am I doing something wrong?
is there a master copy of vslshost.exe I need to update instead?
(BTW, I also ran the VS2012 (KB270250 from VS2012 Update 1 CTP 4))
Thanks for your help
As this is an internal company app, I have just convinced our IT guy to upgrade the machine, because the certain grief of trying the different possible solutions was just too much.
BUT if you MUST deploy to XP
To find out more, here are two pretty exhaustive posts with input directly from the Lightswitch team:

Enjoy....(???)

Error when installing SQL Server 2012 Express

When I attempt to install SQL Server 2012 Express, I get an error
However, I have installed service pack 1. BTW, I am using windows 7.
Could someone help me?
My best guess is that you're trying to install 64bit Sql Server on 32bit Windows 7. Other than that, make sure you right click and choose "Run as Administrator" when starting the installer, and that your copy of Windows evaluates as "genuine".
Sql Server also requires .Net and PowerShell, but if either of those were the problem I would expect to see a different error, or even just a prompt to allow them to be included with this installation.

Unable to upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server2008 R2 RTM - Express with Advanced Services

I am trying to upgrade my current Express edition to Express with Advanced Services for supporting full-text search.
The current system setup is:
OS version: Windows server 2008 R2 web server 64 bit
SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, SP1, v10.50.2500.0
I have downloaded the SQL Server with Advanced Services. I am unable to upgrade the edition. The installation step goes without any issues and even getting Edition upgrade completed page. But once I click the close this page, an error will pop up.
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error: Invoke or
BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has
been created.
Can some please assist me here to the right direction?
I could see that the version of SQL Server Express with Advanced Services is 10.50.1600.1. Is this the cause? So should I downgrade the sp1 to normal Express r2 edition before upgrading?
Downloaded link for the Express with advanced services http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=25174
I got it working finally!!
I was getting the below error previously. It is a bug and is related to UI. So i have upgraded using the command line that too in QUIET mode to prevent any UI intervention.
"SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:
Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created."
Following are the steps i used:-
Downloaded the latest sp1 for SQL Server 2008 r2 with Advanced Services (SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe) from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26729
Extracted the SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe to D:\SQL2008
Open command prompt as "Administrator"
Executed the following commands
D:\sql2008\setup.exe /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=MyInstance /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /FEATURES=SQL,RS /INDICATEPROGRESS /Q
*MyInstance is your sql server instance name
*/INDICATEPROGRESS will show the setup progress to command prompt(For a confirmation :) )
You can follow this doc for more setup parameters
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144259(v=sql.105).aspx
Verified the upgrade has been successful.
Unfortunately FULL-TEXT Search feature was not enabled.
So Run the setup.exe as normall(double click) and added "FULL-TEXT Search" feature to the existing instance.
Everything works fine now. Thank you all.
I can verify that this bug and the same resolution also apply to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP2 v10.50.4000.0
