MS Access: Can a grouping be displayed on the left side of the detail section instead of above it? - group-by

Imagine a regular ol' report that has generated data and has one grouping level. We all know that grouping adds a section above the detail section and in here we can put in the controls that hold the grouped fields.
However, is there a way to display the grouped fields on the left of the detail section instead of above it? I know it's incredibly counter-intuitive because when you open up Access in design view, you don't have a place to put fields to the left of the Detail section - you can either put it inside or outside. But is this somehow possible?
I thought of using a subreport, but then the next question would be - how can I make the subreport generate data that lines up nicely with the data in the Detail section of the main report?
Is this possible?

Basically, I just want to show the stuff from the grouped section to the left of the detail section. It would not be repeated for each record.

Report vertical layout

I have existing report w/ "groups" for Total/Directs/Warehouse/Credits that span horizontally. I need to now stack these groupings vertically. What is the best way to do this in CR? I am used to SSRS, Excel, PowerBI, etc. Crystal Reports is much less intuitive than those tools.
Do I need some kind of funky nested groups? Sub reports? How should we approach this? We assumed it would be a pretty simple formatting/layout change. But it looks like it's actually quite complex to do this.
Original:
How it needs to be re-worked:
If the entire table you're showing is in a Footer, you can just add 3 new footer sections and duplicate the table in each (removing any columns you don't need.) Just right click the relevant section and Insert Section Below.
Otherwise you'll need to use subreports. But since you have the columns already configured, all you really have to do is:
Save 4 subreports, Total, Directs, Warehouse, and Credits. (Just save a copy of your existing report, and delete everything that doesn't need to show up in Total. Rinse and repeat.)
Import each and add the parameters as subreport links
Give them each their own section

How to get a page per register stored in DDBB in jasperreports?

I have a report with the following structure:
PAGE HEADER
DETAIL BAND (12 of those)
SUMMARY BAND
The detail bands show depending on expressions I specified. Also, the content of the detail bands are subReports, one per detail band (don't know if that is relevant or not here).
What I'm trying to achieve is to execute the report without any filter as the ID or any other field of the table. Instead, I want to extract the information of all the registers of one specific table (let's name the table USER).
What I'm expecting to find when I execute the report is something like the following:
PAGE HEADER
detail sections (shown depending on the expressions )
SUMMARY
What I'm getting looks similar to the following:
PAGE HEADER
DETAIL 1 (for user1)
DETAIL 2 (for user1)
DETAIL 1 (for user2)
DETAIL 4 (for user3)
and never the summary band (just at the end of the report)
As you can see, all the users are getting mixed while what I want to do is to start a new page for each one of them.
QUESTIONS:
How can I get the report to show each one of the users from the table
in separate pages?
Is there some property I missed that allows me to
do that?
Thanks!
I think I found a way to solve this challenge. I just made a group (Group1) based on the ID's of the users and put the content of my Page Header inside the Group Header just created. Did the same with the Summary band, put all it contents inside the Group Footer.
Then, selecting the Group Header (or the Group Footer) I checked the Keep Together and the Start New Page checkboxs from the Appearance tab.
Furthermore, for each one of the detail bands, selected the Group1 just created for the Group Changes selection combo in the Appearance tab.
I didn't do much testing yet but it seems like it's working as I wanted it to. If I find any other (better) solution I'll update the answer. Still open to hear advices though.

Crystal Reports remove duplicate sections

I am trying to remove duplicated sections of a report. currently I am using the previous() function to do this however I am finding that this removes all references to the field passed into this function. I still want to retrieve the first section it comes across.
Thanks
In Section expert, choose the right section (Details I do suppose) click the Formula button close to the Suppress field;
Then type (you can drop field name from available fields)
{...yourfield}=previous{...yourfield}
(this mean that this section will be suppressed if some field, i.e. "id" is identical to previous one)
I would be careful doing the previous() I've used this in the past and noticed it sometimes doesn't display any of the repeated data including the original data until I found a way around it.
Instead try using a unique field for the group but also make sure your table relationships(joins) are set up correctly to reflect what data you want to return.
For example (I'm with education) so I deal with learners and qualifications.
If I want to display learner qualifications I would do it as follows:
Relationship - Learner ---> L_Quals
Create a group, grouped by Learner.learnerID
Create another group, grouped by L_Quals.QualRef
Suppress the details section
Now this will display like this:
LearnerID
-Qualref1
-Qualref2
If I was to show the qualifications in the details section and had other tables linked up this could get a little messy with repeating qualrefs and such
Hope this resolves

Export PDF and supress page breaks

When I export my report to pdf, appear me weird page breaks.
If a lengthy report, that happens to me is that if a table does not fit in the remaining space of a page, it automatically passes me to the page below, thus creating blanks spaces.
Already have enabled the property Keep Together, interactive size to 0 and i unchecked keep together on one page if possible in tablix properties.
However I think the problem is not in the table, because before that, I have a textbox with a title, and is between the table and the textbox that makes page break.
I have already put the textbox and table inside a rectangle, but still have this problem.
Any suggestions?
Q: is the table / text box that responsible for the page break issue is inside a Subreport ?
If so, then this is your problem (unless you make a call that this table will always be short enough to stay in single page).
You have to understand: the subreport is the cause for the breaking, the table will not split because it is presented by the sub-report that has to stay in one piece.
The options are:
Stay with the subreport - but make sure that the table Maximum length will still fit the Page that the sub-report is lay in it.
take out the table from the subreport and place it directly in the main report - that way when the table too long to stay in single page, it will split into two pages.

Nested table height auto increase?

I am trying to create a report in SSRS using Report Builder 3.0 where there is an ungrouped section of data (in the screenshot this is called "Risks") followed by a grouped section of data "Controls". There can be many controls to one risk row as seen in the row with the "Ref" 3a. After the grouped set of controls it goes back to the ungrouped risk info (see below).

I have made this work by using a nested table inside one of the cells, this all looked fine until I added a larger amount of data in the cell "Consequences". As you can see this does not look good at the moment as the inner table does not grow.
My question, is there a way to make the inner table grow, so the 2nd row text would be in the middle of that row and the background colour would take up the whole row, so it does not leave a white space?
I really appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks,
Glenn
I do not believe this to be possible as the nested tablix is by its own right optimised for space and visual appearance.
I know what you want to do and I can only suggest you tweak yourn report to query this data in one and produce one tablix. Not ideal I know as this will mess the arrangement.
