open file via rest api in intellij 2016 - scala

With Intellij versions older than 2016 it was possible to open a certain file in intellij via a rest api call to intellij.
This feature was used in an amazing play framework plugin to link directly to the correct line in the code from a stacktrace that is displayed in the browser:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/play-framework-tools/dchhggpgbommpcjpogaploblnpldbmen
Read about it here:
http://manuel.bernhardt.io/2016/03/07/the-one-play-framework-productivity-tip-you-should-know-about/
With Intellij versions before 2016, using a URL like
http://localhost:63342/api/file/D:/John/Documents/GitHub/myapp/app/controllers/Application.scala:14 would work. Intellij would have opened and highlighted the correct line in the correct file.
The URL I used to configure the chrome plugin to generate the above link was: http://localhost:63342/api/file/$file:$line
Currently I am running IntelliJ 2016.1.3 and the setup doesn't work anymore.
Has the Intellij API changed? Should I use a new URL pattern instead of http://localhost:63342/api/file/$file:$line ?

I had the same problem with PHPStorm, maybe my solution also works for IntelliJ:
You need to go into Settings -> Build,Execution,Deployment -> Debugger.
There you should find a section called "Built-in server". The port number that's specified there is the one you should use (localhost:63342 is the default). Also you might have to check "Allow unsigned requests". They added this checkbox after their security update.

Eclipse Browser has problems with rest api call

I have a problem with my eclipse browser.
If i call the url of my sonarqube server (https://sonar) everthing works fine and eclipse shows me the page. But if i try to call the api (https://sonar/api/system/status) it returns with an error window which says that the page could not be opened. The same url worked for me in normal browsers.
Question
Does eclipse browser has problems with calling rest apis in general? Or is there something i could do to make it work?
System:
Windows 10 Pro (10.0.15063 Build 15063)
Eclipse Oxygen.1a Release (4.7.1a)
Ok, the problem seems to be in IE (which is used by eclipse in default). If i call the url in IE it wants to download the json answer. I changed some values in registry so IE just show me the json in browser directly. After that also eclipse could show me hte result without error.
Here is my ie_json.reg file i executed to change values in registry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00;
; Tell IE 7,8,9,10 to open JSON documents in the browser on Windows XP and later.
; 25336920-03F9-11cf-8FD0-00AA00686F13 is the CLSID for the "Browse in place" .
;
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/json]
"CLSID"="{25336920-03F9-11cf-8FD0-00AA00686F13}"
"Encoding"=hex:08,00,00,00

what is the URL for JetBrains IDE plug-in repository?

I thought this was a simple question, and still nothing works.
My first use-case is that the IDEA 15 (Community) appears to NOT have a repository configured. The *Plugins" tab in the Settings window / dialogue supports three operation aside from clicking on a plugin.:
A button for [Install JetBrains plugins] ... This seems to be things downloaded with the installer or updates;
A [Browse repositories plugins] button ... which contains an "empty" list Further this dialogue contains two buttons for:
A [Manage repositories]
[HTTP proxy settings] - Proxy configuration / setup
An [Install plugins from disk] button ... which does what it says ;-)
This question to ask is, what URL do I need to put into that:
* The [Manage repositories]
... list because the clean install had "nada" in that list.
The list of JetBrains plugins isn't the same as the list on the plugins repository web page:
https://plugins.jetbrains.com/
In fact IDEA help pages recommend using the JetBrains repository... They do not seem to want to let one know the URL.
Also, what is the "Community" plugins URL? At the very least I'd like to verify that/IF the JetBrains plugin-list is updating (as there's no "update list" option to be seen).
Weird huh?
I had the same problem while using the Community edition and trying to install the lombok plugin. Setting the HTTP Proxy to "Auto-detect proxy settings" resolved it for me.
It's under browse repositories -> HTTP Proxy Settings -> HTTP Proxy -> Auto detect proxy settings.
The [Manage repositories] list should be empty, unless you have some private plugins repository.
A [Browse repositories plugins] button should show you all the plugins, if not then check your firewall or proxy settings, or click on the Reload button.

I don't know the specific URL, either, but Meo's answer is correct in saying that there's no need to add it manually. It sounds like you're confused by the difference between the list you see on the site and the list you see in IDEA CE.
The reason for the difference isn't a missing URL at all, but rather that many of the plugins listed on the site are not enabled for the Community Edition, so it doesn't display them. The PHP plugin at https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/6610 is an example. While that page doesn't make it clear that it requires the Ultimate Edition, you can find out by scrolling down to the Updates list and clicking the (latest) version number. There you'll find a Supported Products list, where the Community Edition is listed as being incompatible because the plugin requires the "ultimate" module (a module that is only included in IDEA Ultimate Edition).
If Browse Repositories... is empty, perhaps something happened with your version of Android studio?
If you're on the Canary channel your build might be too advanced for plugins, for instance. At least, that's what I think my issue was, as I switched to another (older) instance and everything was fine after this
I felt a bit stupid upon realising this!!
I had the exact same issue on my Android Studio 3.6.1 but a quick restart after looking for solutions turned out to be the way to go.

What language does SmartFoxServer 2x use on the server side?

I have downloaded and started the community version of SFSx2. I read everything on their documentation page:
http://docs2x.smartfoxserver.com/DevelopmentBasics/introduction
Which unfortunately only talks about flash client side code. Nothing about the corresponding server side code, nor about html5 client side which I need.
I downloaded the HTML5 examples, which took me a long time to find (they are here: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/download/get/140 )
None of the examples work, as they can't connect to the server. Presumably, this is because the examples only supply client side code. There are no instructions supplied on how to install or run the examples.
I can find no mention on the smartfox documenation on the following:
1) what language is used on the server side. One assumes its java.
2) how does one deploy java code to the smartfox server? I cant find any mention of this in the docs.
3) how does one find and install the server part of the client side examples (which are Tris, GameLobby, BuddyMessenger, AdvancedChat).
I applied to be allowed to post on the smartfoxserver forums, but no reply yet.
I also found it hard so I share what I've found out.
The server extensions are written in Java. I used Eclipse JUNO to write my code.
You can download Eclipse here. http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/
You export the extension in jar format from eclipse into you extension path. The name of your file has to end in 'extension' eg MyFirstExtension.jar otherwise sfs2x wont recognize it. Your extension path will be something like this: C:\Program Files\SmartFoxServer2X\SFS2X\extensions\MyFirstExtension\MyFirstExtension.jar if your working in windows.
You will find docs on JAVA API here. http://docs2x.smartfoxserver.com/api-docs/javadoc/server/
This is a link to the basic example code: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/download/get/120
Unzip the content into the [SFS2X_install_folder]/SFS2X/www/root/examples folder, overwriting the existing file. Run the index.html file, then navigate to another index.html to open the example. Run the sfs2x-standalone.exe first of course(see below). If you followed the 'server configuration tutorial' on smartfox website and changed the server ports, the examples wont work. Leave the ports alone until you start to understand the server.
This is a link to the flash example code: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/download/get/108
You will find the example code for apps mentioned above. They are written in Adobe Flash Builder and Java extensions. I don't know if there is any code for HTML5 but the Java server code and AS3 is there.
I also found that using the standalone server was the way to go rather than using SFS2x as a service. c:\program files\smartfoxserver2x\sfs2x\sfs2x-standalone.exe. Using the exe gives you the command prompt window. You can use the window for debugging and see the state of the server when it starts.
Most of the examples should work without creating extensions but to create an extension out of source examples:
Create and setup a new project in your Java IDE. You will have already set up a workspace.
Copy the content of the /source/server/src folder to your project's source folder.
Add SFS2X Libraries. Go to properties of the project -> Select Java Build Path -> Click Library Tab -> Add external jar. Add 'sfs2x.jar' and 'sfs2x-core.jar' from C:\Program Files\SmartFoxServer2X\SFS2X\lib folder. To create the extension, export jar file to extension path. Restart server.
Another problem I had was the Java Version I was using. I had to use Java1.6 with my version of sfs2x when writing extensions. This was trial and error as there was no documentation. There may be a newer version out now.
I had to copy all the server source into eclipse to try and understand how things were done. It was a way of having all the code in one place. There was a lot of trial and error as getting help is hard. I eventually accomplished what I set out to achieve. Good Luck.
SmartFox Server is easy to use even with extension. documentation Give try to Nuggeta solution for game development too. No extension needed at first. This is optionnal.

How to run GWT RequestFactory Validation Tool on Eclipse project

I've got a Android AppEngine Connected Project I'm trying to build using GWT2.4 RequestFactory and Objectify on my Eclipse IDE.
Apparently I need to run the RequestFactory Validation Tool because I'm using ServiceName and ProxyForName annotations (these are required especially when working on the Android client side). My problem is the Eclipse can't validate it and the solution provided at http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit/wiki/RequestFactoryInterfaceValidation#IDE_configuration is enough to make me rip my eyes out.
Since I'm working on a Windows machine, the shell script provided is not very useful. Trying to run Validation Tool from a cmd propt returns the error message:"This tool must be run with a JDK, not a JRE"
Can someone explain how this Tool is supposed to be run? Is there a way to use it as an External Tool in eclipse?
Normally if you follow carefully the instructions in the link you show, and run the GWT Development Mode from Eclipse, the Validation should be done automatically at the time you access the development URL with your browser.
For the record, I've actually had some problems with it, but launching the application several times maked it work.
Well, I ran into the same problem as well. When I tried annotation processing (under Java Compiler-> Annotation processing )was being disabled. So RequestFactoryDeobfuscatorBuilder was not being generated. Try enabling that and rebuilding your project.
I've just recovered from two days of hunting this bug down in a project that used to run validation properly but stopped.
In my case I had a new-ish generic BaseRequestContext and a specific sub-interface that extended it. My parent interface declared a method that didn't match the Locator's exactly (e.g. getThing(T) vs get(T)) and this wasn't reported as an error but did stop the validation tool from completing.
Apt is also removed in Java 8 : http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/117 . So beware.
Switching back to Java 7 will fix the issue if you are using Java 8.
I understood why the error happens sometimes in a project: the compiler was complaining it cannot find the directory .apt . But when I tried to create it manually it was not possible (under windows). I think the validation tool mutes the exception of not being able to create the directory: try renaming .apt in your validation tool calls (do a text search in your project)

Vaadin - GWT error "module xxx may need to be recompiled

I'm ramping up on Vaadin and I'm getting this javascript alert whenever I try and run the demo apps.
GWT module 'com.vaadin.terminal.gwt.DefaultWidgetSet' may need to be recompiled
I've tried cleaning the project to no avail.
As I said, I'm ramping up so I'm sure there's some simple step I'm missing or a concept I haven't grasped.
I don't know anything about Vaadin, but there's a more general context in which this error occurs:
So long as you're testing in Eclipse, the dynamic coding of your app is still real Java coding being run in a JVM. This coding is made available through debugger that's accessible via a socket. You get a URL that looks like this:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/MyApp.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997
with this codesvr thing being your eclipse-hosted debugger process for your Java code.
Before your app can run standalone, GWT has to translate your Java code to JavaScript; separate versions of the code are produced for each browser type (Firefox, WebKit, Opera, ...) and language that you want to support. Only once this is done can you access your app the usual way via
http://127.0.0.1:8888/MyApp.html
After weeks of running my app only in Eclipse, I'd managed to forget about the compiling-for-browsers step and wondered about the message. The way to fire up the compiler, if you're not using the Ant task, is to hit Google|GWT Compile in the project's context menu. That done, the JS in your app gets fleshed out and your app can run without Java on the client side.
And of course the message goes away.
It is a warning not an error. Does the app work? Otherwise you have to recompile the Vaadin widgetset. These might help too: http://vaadin.com/directory/help/using-vaadin-add-ons
Often this message meens:
you're missing the ?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997 parameter in the URL (or have misspelled it).
your module uses the xs linker <add-linker name="xs" />. This is a known limitation and will be fixed in the future: Issue 4232: Allow Development Mode to work with XS Linker
You may need to clear the browser cache. It is possible that the compiled js that the browser is using is not the js that has most recently been compiled.
In Chrome you can see if the cached js is being used in the developer tools windows (ctrl + shift + i). In the size column it will say (from cache) instead of the actual size. You can then right click and clear the browser cache. ctrl + r to reload and the error should be gone.
Carl Smotricz is absolutely right.
Just Cleaning and Build Project on the topmost menu doesn't work.
You must use "Google | GWT Compile" on the context menu generated when right-clicking on your GWT project, prior to deployment.
The error may not be about not-adding "?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997" at the end of host web page if he or she tried to deploy the GWT-based webapp on WAS external to Eclipse.
Server restart did the job for me.
I had tried clearing cache, clean and rebuild .. but i was still getting the same warning message.
Server restart made it reload all the stull from the latest compiled war.
It was a hit and trial and i am glad it worked :) :)
