Facebook's documentation for developers includes a guide to test apps. It's the perfect solution to hosting localhost:8000 domain for development and a live site simultaneously.
The dashboard link is the gone; even copying the link shown in Facebook's tutorial images is dead. How do I access Facebook's test apps?
Seems like they moved this without updating their docs...
It's in your dashboard's "homepage" where you chose between your apps.
You have to click on the "more- triangle" in the top-right corner of your app-card and you will find the options "delete app" and "CREATE TEST APP" :)

It's been about 2 months now. We manage several facebook pages and all these pages were linking to native iOS / Android apps from the CTA button where users were either opening their apps via "Use App" link or were redirected to download them in case they didn't have it installed.
What happens now is that the dialog to connect your app via the "add button" function in Facebook pages, it only shows a textfield to redirect the users to a website (image attached). There is no way to link to a registered app (of course there is a related app registered with all the relevant platforms enabled and the admin has access to it). Facebook, as always is completely silent and not responding to any support requests, clients that had their apps linked to pages now ask us what happened and we are out in the cold without being able to understand wtf is happening.
This happens to 90% of our pages, some of them still have a "Use App" button that works just fine, but all others have the above problem. Also, new pages, suffer from the same problem as well. Changing the page theme doesn't seem to do anything. One (strange) finding is that if you download the pages management app in a mobile device, there is also a checkbox which allows to enter a deep link url besides the standard url but just that. The list with the apps that we had access to link to pages has just vanished.
Any ideas? Anyone having the same issue?
I want to get approval for my app id only for the like and share buttons of facebook but it seems that it got more complicated then before.
When I go to my app then javascript sdk to create the code of javascript for my site it shows
This app is in Development Mode and not available publicly.
Modo público can be enabled in the App Dashboard.
So then I go to the app dashboard and it is asking a lot of information I don't have because it's only to have the like button in my site I don't want to read more likes of users.
So anyone can help me to find the right way to do this.
The only thing you should have to fill in to make the app public is the Contact Email on the main Settings page:
(source: infused.org)
Found this thread whilst having the same problem. In addition to infused's post, you have to go to "status and review" and turn "Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?" to Yes.
Furthermore, I noticed that removing the app id (as per the code you get if you are not logged in and go to the plugin generator page), then the code does not work at all.
Also, if the app is not set as live, then it will still sometimes work - just to make things harder to debug.
We run a website with a blog and we're using a wordpress plug-in that pushes the blog posts to facebook via an app. It is working fine for regular users but we want it to push the posts to the organisation's community page.
The annoying thing is, I deleted an existing community page and created a new page via the "Create New Facebook Page" button in the "App Page:" setting of the "App Details" area for my app.
The new page was created exactly as requested, and it still won't allow me to link it to the app.
How can I get this working?
The Wordpress plug-in is called "Add Link To Facebook" in case anyone is wondering.
Please ensure you are using the pro version and confirm this. It seems this functionality is only provided in pro.
Wordpress requires a separate action to authorize pages. So using an app for example you'll first authorize your account to be accessed and then another popup will appear asking you to select one of many pages in your account. Is anything like this happening?
I'm trying to un-authorize one of the apps that I've allowed previously to use my Google information.
Twitter and Facebook allows un-authorization. How do you achieve it in Google? Tried looking around the settings, but to no avail.
https://www.google.com/accounts/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens is the URL to view/revoke permissions granted to third-party apps.
If it's something you added to Google from the Chrome Store, go to the chrome store "your purchases" and click on the app you want to trash- there is a little trashcan icon to remove it from your profile:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/user/purchases
You can also open your Google+ app, open settings, click on your name under account settings, and then click on apps with Google-plus signin.
Jason's link worked fine, but https://myaccount.google.com/ seems less fragile.
(Just scroll down to "Connected apps and services".)
I am trying to post to user wall but I am receiving this error when when share window pops up:
The post's links must direct to the application's connect or canvas URL
Now, I made a proper Google search in hopes to find a solution, but the only one given was that I need to disable "Stream post URL security". I checked the advanced settings for my app and it is already set to disabled.
So, by having a few years of experience with development on Facebook, and by knowing how incredibly bad the communication between us developers and FB has been in the past, I'm highly doubtful that they will assist me on this. Although I have heard that feedback is better here on SO than the good old FB platform forums. Well, lets see if my only option is to set my hair on fire or that there might be a kind soul out there that can assist.
This answer from the WordPress forums via user Samuel Wood (Otto) worked for me:
Go to the Facebook App. Edit its settings. On the Advanced settings page, disable the "Stream post URL security" option.
Did you generate the access token using the Graph explorer app on FB?
Make sure you select your app from the select box on the top-right.
It will be selected as Graph Explorer by default.
This error happens as the selected app would be Graph explorer and its canvas/site url is not pointing to your site.
Doing this fixed my problem; it may fix yours as well.
With the new app interface, issue is solved by turning off the "Stream post URL security" in the "migration tab"
you always have to use the same domain for linking as specified on the app's developer settings. Now you can have several tlds, and custom prefixes as well.
For others experiencing this problem, I was able to resolve this by configuring the Facebook > App > Settings > App on Facebook > Canvas URL
