I'm currently using a CMS solution that does not generate any type of Sitemap for use with Google/Bing/Yahoo!/etc. I've requested it for 4 years now but they do not show any interest in adding it any time soon.
With that being said, I'm trying to find a way to create a sitemap for 1) all of our pages over 5,000; 2) all of our images; and 3) all of our documents.
Can anyone help me with this? I know my way around PHP and would like to code this up that way but I don't know where to start with crawling my site to generate the links needed. I tried https://github.com/jdevalk/XML-Sitemap-PHP-Script but had no luck as it only returned the 5 pages in the root and none of the child pages inside folders like it was suppose to. It also showed our last modification date as 1970 which is incorrect.
Have you tried the Bing XML Sitemap Plugin?
Blockquote The Bing XML Sitemap Plugin is an open source server-side technology that takes care of generating XML Sitemaps compliant with sitemaps.org for websites running on Internet Information Services (IIS) for Windows® Server as well as Apache HTTP Server.

Hopefully someone can help me, I'm new to EPiServer and have been given a data migration task. We are using the latest version 8.5. I need to migrate content from a clients home grown CMS (that luckily is in a tree like structure) to EPiServer. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about this on the web - perhaps I just don't know the right thing to search for.
It looks like using the EPiServer.ServiceApi might be the route to go but again locating useful documentation is proving difficult.
I was thinking of setting up the client CMS in SQL Server and writing a simple console application to call the EPiServer.ServiceApi inserting the content. If anyone has any information on this or better still and example i would be very grateful.
Thanks,
Dan
If you are just importing content from another CMS I would write a scheduled job in EPiServer:
http://world.episerver.com/code/dannymurphy/Stoppable-Scheduled-Job-with-feedback/
That job then uses the standard IContentRepository to create content:
http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Developers-Guide/EPiServer-CMS/8/Content/Persisting-IContent-instances/
That way you can run it whenever you want and have access to EPiServers complete API. Also you can see progress of the import through the job status.
In the job you can read the content as a file in any format you like or directly from the source CMS database or some xml or RSS feed perhaps.
I have moved content from PHP, Java and .NET CMS this way. In .NET you could even access the source CMS via WCF or SOAP if available.
The ServiceApi is relatively new and more focused on Commerce products and media assets rather than CMS page and block content so I wouldn't use that.
There is complete documentation below for the ServiceApi by the way, did you not find it?
http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/EPiServer-Service-API/
Regarding language management you can read more in the below links:
http://cjsharp.com/blog/2013/04/11/working-with-localization-and-language-branches-in-episerver-7-mvc/
http://tedgustaf.com/blog/2010/5/create-a-new-page-language-branch-programmatically-in-episerver/
Basically you have two options for multiple languages. If the content is just straight translations you should create nine different language versions (branches) of the same page. You can also have multiple sites in an EPiServer installation but that requires 9 separate licenses (and the associated costs).
I've done a lot of EpiServer content migration projects. The easiest way if it's possible is to export your current sites tree in Json and then import that into EpiServer. I've had to do it on a recent project and mixed with Json.net it's pretty easy.
If you want to go that route you can find all the code to do it here: EpiServer Content Migration With Json.Net/
I am searching for a way (or a case study) where Alfresco is used to perform a survey by providing a form. The Alfresco Share visitors/users fill-in the fields of this form and by submission the results are transfered to a data list, filling in the respective fields. (something similar to google forms).
Does anyone know of such a case? How can something like this be materialized? Can Alfresco forms be used this way, or do I have it totally wrong?
This really isn't a good use for Alfresco.
Alfresco is an Enterprise Content Management system that stores your content as documents, files, etc along with associated metadata and there is nothing I can see in the use case you have provided that has to do with storing documents and/or metadata.
No matter what way I look at this it is going to be difficult to create a configurable survey. Your best bet is to look to having another survey tool such as Encuestame that you can deploy to your same Tomcat container and database and then share links to your surveys in Alfresco and publish results/reports to documents in Alfresco.
You have custom dashlet for creating pools on Share Extras.
I didn't tried it yet, but I don't think you'll have problems with deploying/using it.
It not a good way of using alfresco Instead of that you will find below way usefull.
There is one web application called orbeon forms.Which is helpfull in creating web form. Orbeon provides community version by which you can test.below is the link of site for orbeon form.
http://www.orbeon.com/
Create webform in orbeon. There are 2 interface in orbeon one is form builder using which you can create web form another is form runner using which you can enter data.
Orbeon provides support for submitting data which you can change to alfresco. Here you need to put rest url of alfresco webscript
Create rest api in alfresco for saving orbeon forms.
Hope this helps!!!!!
The question was also asked in the French section of Alfresco forum in 2013. While there are "Alfresco Forms", these have a completely different meaning, nothing in common with Google Forms. As an Alfresco add-on, "Form Factor" is an answer if you have entreprise and 5.5KUSD/CPU to pay each year.
On the google website there an example of a simple GWT appliatoin, following is a link:
http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/doc/1.6/tutorial/create.html
The above application has a host page:StockWatcher.html
and StockWatcher.java is the entry point.
If I wanted to add more html pages to this application, we keep one single host page and the entry point will add different panels depending on which link the user clicked on? In this case, how to know which link the user clicked on? If I create a navigation panel and each link has a request parameter, then after the user clicks on the link, How to get the request parameter?
Are there any tutorials available online on how to create a fully functional application? The one example google provides is too simple.
Thanks so much in advance
You have two options to have multiple page web application using gwt.
1) Use gwt history feature and listen for the history change. In this approach at the initial page load itself browser downloads all the javascripts(Including the widgets which are not useful in current link). Still this can be avoided by using gwt code splitting.
2) Create multiple modules. In this case you have to create multiple html pages and GWT entry points. For each major functionality create a gwt module and link that with [modulename].html file. In this approach browser downloads only particular feature's javascript. Not all the javascripts.
Based on your application requirement you can pick one of the option. IMHO I would suggesst second option.
I am researching integrating CMS into an already existing website.
I would like to set up certain pages to be editable by co-workers where they can upload/edit content via an online form.
I am however, restricted in that I cannot use PHP(i know, lame!) and I don't have ftp access to this server. I edit the html files on a mirror site and they get uploaded to the webserver by my supervisor.
I would like to use a CMS similar to CushyCMS. Is there a cms service or code that I can put into my html files that would enable my co-workers to edit their pages?
Thank you for your help!
is not possible, you need to use a technology that support server side stuff like PHP, ASP, JSP, asp.net...
If you don't have direct access to the web site is impossible to do something like that.
An easy way was to install a normal CMS like joomla, wordpress, or many others and that designing the theme same as the existing one.
I'm asking for help to my problem. I am new to JSF and I have a simple JSF online store demo page. I don't even use navigation rules since I only include the page with search results beneath the searching tags fields. The problem is a have sth like 15 fields (input texts and menus) to perform a detailed search. After selecting the fields and clicking on the search button I have to generate a long GET request for the database (which is located on a different server than my page and uses REST), receive the response (xml format), extract the search results and publish them on the page. The search patter is sth like this:
http://serveradress/search/ [x1][x2][x3]....[xn]
Where x1-xn are the values for the search engine and have to be read from the page's fields, so it has to be generated dynamically. The get request can be very long since there are 15 fields and one can have some additional options. The data base is on a different server and responds with an xml script with search results.
I found some solutions on the internet on how to perform a GET request using params but don't really know how can it fit to my problem since I have to receive the results from an external data base and manage them rather inside the java bean for publishing (i do not want to change the url adres of my page).
I am using JSF 1.2, with Eclipse IDE and JBoss on Ubuntu. The search request has to be GET since the data base uses that REST interface.
I am asking for your help in this matter if someone is able to find a solution to this problem or provide me with some link. I would strongly appreciate an example code with the solution.
