Guys I'm having hard time to echo from my model

Are you sure you are returning something from your model's total_count function ... as per your listing there is no return statement which means null will be echoed resulting in blank.
Just selecting will not make the model returns the query result, you need to return explicitly
Please try to var_dump($totalcount) to see what is in your result set as this is a result set not a value according to your query.

the error that i get is : Impossible to generate condition with empty list of values for field (Answers.id).
but when i print_r($avoidedIDs) i get the values that i passed so im sure that $avoidedIDs is not empty , at least not out of contain function and thats what makes it more complicated for me, but when i put ONE number instead of my variable it will execute , if i put 1,2,3,4 still it will execute only the first one!
what am i doing WRONG for the past 2 days ?????

It is because you are trying to use $avoidedIDs in an anonymous function (Closure) call, which is not available there.
You should make it available for the function.
->contain(['Answers' => function($q) use ($avoidedIDs){..}
Closures may also inherit variables from the parent scope. Any such
variables must be passed to the use language construct.

I have a database table called input_types with a various input types:
[id] [input_type_Name]
1 text
2 radio
3 checkbox
4 select
... ...
I want to retrieve the names from the table and put them in an array so that I can then use form_dropdown to show them to the user in a dropdown.
The problem with how I'm doing it now is that I create optiongroups.
How I do it now:

This however doesn't create the desired effect. My dropdown gets populated, but because I have a multidimensional array the dropdown has optgroups.
I just want to have my selected data in a simple array. Why is this so freaking hard in CodeIgniter and php in general.

The solution is very simple, use a foreach to loop through the multidimensional array in the model:

The Zend_Db_Adapter_Abstract::lastInsertId() method is a proxy to PDO::lastInsertId(). According to the documentation:
PDO::lastInsertId — Returns the ID of the last inserted row or sequence value
Note:
This method may not return a meaningful or consistent result across different PDO drivers, because the underlying database may not even support the notion of auto-increment fields or sequences.
Now you know. Use it as your own risk!

make sure your class containing getLatestUserID does extend Zend_Db_Table_Abstract also :
$ids = $this->select()->where('id = ?'); can't work because where('id = ?'); expects an id value like where('id = ?', $id);
if what you want is the latest inserted row's Id use :
$lastInsertId = $this->getAdapter()->lastInsertId();
(however if you are using an oracle database this will not work and you should use $lastInsertId = $this->getAdapter()->lastSequenceId('USER_TABLE_SEQUENCE'); )
I get a really anoying error when I try to edit an entry from a table, in tutorial they always use getTable()->find(), but I need to verify that the person logged in is the owner of that entry here what I did:

execute() can return multiple rows; effectively you're getting a recordset back, rather than the individual object that your form is expecting. Try fetching a single object, using, e.g.:
return $q->execute()->getFirst();
or
return $q->fetchOne();
Its probably because your query is returning a Doctrine_Collection, not the actual Doctrine_Record youre expecting. Instead of execute use fetchOne.
