BMC Remedy User (WMSTI): Macro Language? - macros

I need to know the language, which is used in BMC Remedy User (WMSTI) macros? The tool is called 'BMC Remedy User' (WMS-TI within the company (Telekom)).
Here are some code snippets from the macros which are standardly implemented:
Form-open:
Form-entry-list: 0
Form-final: modify#
end
and another snippet:
[wordrecord]
Path=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12\winword.exe
Application=winword
Topic=system
Format=Record
CharsPerLine=100
XFRDATA=Clipboard
Command1=[FileNew .Template="Normal", .NewTemplate = 0]
Command2=[Editpaste]
What kind of language is this and is there any learning material?

BMC Remedy User tool is not supported but developer can install it locally to ease their work.
apart from this, have a look on-https://communities.bmc.com/docs/DOC-28466

Remedy User Tool macro language is proprietary.
Since Remedy User Tool is not supported anymore, I'd encourage you to use updated technologies, like SOAP or REST (for everything back-end), or AngularJS (for everything front-end)
Another solution would be to use tools created by the Remedy Community, like the one appearing on https://communities.bmc.com/message/437693#437693

UIATable operation GetCellValue throws error "Failed due to a lacking or broken API call inherited from UI Automation"

I am using the UI Automation add-in to automate and test an application that contains HTML objects in a Java window. I have the UIATable identified & saved in my object repository and the following methods work fine:
MsgBox UIAWindow("**").UIAObject("**").UIATable("**").RowCount 'Prints 3
MsgBox UIAWindow("**").UIAObject("**").UIATable("**").ColumnCount 'Prints 5
However, when I try to get cell value using any of the below methods:
MsgBox UIAWindow("**").UIAObject("**").UIATable("**").GetCellValue(1,1) 'Error
MsgBox UIAWindow("**").UIAObject("**").UIATable("**").GetCellData(1,1) 'Error
MsgBox UIAWindow("**").UIAObject("**").UIATable("**").GetCellName(1,1) 'Error
I get an error pop up with the following message:
The test run cannot continue due to an unrecoverable error.
<0x80070057> Failed due to a lacking or broken API call inherited from
UI Automation.
I am using UFT 14.02. What might be the possible reason for this error and is there something I can do to resolve this?
Have a look at the UFT 14 Product Availability Matrix. You want the section "UFT GUI Testing UI Automation Add-in".
JavaFX is supported but HTML is not supported by the UI Automation Framework in UFT.
That might be why some methods work and others do not. i.e. You can read the java table, but cannot validate the html content.
(I assume you are testing against a javaFX application? - you just say java)
It's worth saying that "Not Supported" doesn't mean it will not work, just that it's not been fully tested and certified by Microfocus.
Additionally, if you check the support pages it has a big note:
Note: The test objects and methods available are completely dependent on the properties and patterns implemented in your application. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the properties of your application's objects - specifically the Control Type IDs and supported patterns to understand what test objects and methods you can use.
So the error might not be you, and might not be UFT. It might be a result of the delivery of the application under test.
Things you can try...
Try the actual java add-in - it is possible to use multiple add-ins concurrently - even if it's a work around for just one object.
Try the standard windows object identifiers.
Confirm the application is built to support Microsoft's UI Automation
Update to the latest UFT (UFT 15.01 at time of writing, now also called UFT One) to make sure your libraries are as up to date as possible
If all that fails let me know. UFT is very flexible around the GUI and depending on how you need to interact with the table there are some other solutions we can try.

Setting SMBIOSAssetTag in a WMIObject via Powershell without a utility

I'm working with a Lenovo Thinkpad and I'm trying to set the asset tag in Powershell without using Lenovo's WinAIA.exe utility due to restrictions at work (wouldn't be able to access Windows. We would be running everything before we got into Windows Setup via Powershell), and I'm not sure how to go about this. Essentially, the property "SMBIOSAssetTag" (from the WMI class win32_SystemEnclosure) is ReadOnly, and I cannot get around this. I did triple check to make sure that Lenovo does not have its own namespace, and while using the Powershell Module "LenovoBIOS" I didn't see anything that could help me achieve this goal (unless I'm blind and totally missed it). Is there any way to go about this? I've also tried modifying the ReadOnly property of the SMBIOSAssetTag property, but I couldn't get that to work. I'd love any and all feedback. If there is any extra information needed, I'd be happy to help as well.
You don't. The property is defined as read-only in the MOF spec by design.
You're talking about writing to the SMBIOS information, which is an operation specific to your motherboard's OEM. It's up to your OEM to determine the data structure and storage method of the SMBIOS information, and the SMBIOS standard does not provide a standard write method the same way that there is a standard read method.

IIS 6 Parameterized Redirects

It looks like there's a way to, in IIS 6, do the following:
Redirect http://mydomain.com/old_page.asp?oldparam=111 to http://mydomain.com/new-page/111
But, I'm not sure how best to achieve this.
I'm reading up about using VBScript to access the MetaBase to set this up as shown on this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms525728%28v=vs.90%29.aspx, but so far I've had no luck. The documentation seems to assume and advanced user... I need something a little more novice.
(Also you seem to be able to use the Active Directory version or WMI version in VBS - I don't know either of them)
Any ideas?

Jacques

Are there any other examples of DSL in powershell?

PowerBoots is a very useful example of DSL which exploits script blocks to create GUIs:
Boots {
StackPanel {
Button "A bed of clams"
Button "A coalition of cheetas"
Button "A gulp of swallows"
}
}
I know that without specifying a target Domain this question appears very general. So I'm going to make it more specific:
Do you know any other project implementing a kind of DSL in powershell?
You should also look at psake: https://github.com/JamesKovacs/psake
Also, I just found Pester, which is the PoSh answer for RSpec: https://github.com/pester/Pester
Another example: Windows PowerShell: A Better XML
Here's an example of a DSL for XML in PowerShell. Here's a blog post by Jeffrey Snover about DSLs in PowerShell (look at the comments for more links).
I tried PowerShell as DSL script for a C#.Net application and my experience has posted here. .PowerShell is really powerful when it comes to DSL world.

Call Progress Procedure in kSoap

I'm completely new with Progress. I'm trying to access my Progress Procedure (which works when I export it as an XML-page) in my Android app. I'm using kSoap to do the trick, because I've had some decent results of it.
But I can't seem to access my Progress Procedure in my Android project, can anyone help me to do this?
Thank you very much.
Hannelore, from your comment it looks like you're trying to access your .P via WebSpeed, which is not the same thing as WebServices (it's more of a normal web server).
The URL should look something like http://localhost:8080/wsa/wsa1 (depending on your config). You'll need to install the WSA (WebServicesAdapter from progress.com/esd if you don't have it already), and also something like Tomcat.
Lots more details in the OpenEdge doc (here); specifically look at the OpenEdge Development:Web Services book
