I'm trying to use the nativescript-oauth Plugin to do basic facebook login in an app, as described here: https://www.nativescript.org/blog/introducing-the-nativescript-oauth-plugin. When I use the app ID/secret in the demo it functions correctly, but when I try to use my own I get the error that says "Can't Load Url". There's definitely something wrong with my facebook app setup, but not sure what.
Is there a good guide to setting a facebook app up for an iOS app using NativeScript or another hybrid language? I tried using the quickstart guide on the facebook site but that didn't change anything for me.
put localhost as your app domain in your facebook developer settings

Facebook rejects the implementation of the official Phonegap Facebook plugin.
Did it by the book, login, posting works. Explained it's Phonegap (v3.0), and it's using their native SDK, but got rejected two times without any explanation except the info below.
Your Android app must use the native Login dialog that comes with Facebook's SDKs instead of custom web views. Ensure you have successfully tested your Facebook Login integration for Single Sign On or remove this integration as a listed platform in the developer app.
Here are the full details
Please advise. Thx!
I have been trying for some days now to login to facebook via a webworks application, I undesrtand that the FB.login can't work beacuse of a popup, and the oauth login has to go through a web server, I am currently trying to implement this plugin
https://github.com/rsweny/ChildBrowser-plugin-for-BlackBerry
but the readme file isn't really clear about how to implement, I understand that you need an ext directory in the app folder but not sure if I need to add something to the config.xml file or to any other.
Please help!
Thanks,
Jose.
I created some examples of how to integrate your app with Facebook, Twitter, and foursquare via OAuth. They're targeted for BlackBerry 10, but should work on earlier versions as well.
Note: I'll be updating them (for BlackBerry 10) to make use of the new ChildBrowser API.
OAuth Samples are available on GitHub # https://github.com/ctetreault/BB10-WebWorks-Samples
I have a phonegap app that I use the Facebook plugin to implement single sign on. I registered am a native iPhone app since the app is not run in the browser. When I click on login I get an invalid URL error message. I suspect my problem is either I need to specify a URL which I have tried using channel in init but I get a URL not allowed with this configuration. The other problem may be that I need to register this application as a web app. However using phonegap the application does not have a url. I don't know what to do.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Did you look at the iOS URL scheme section of the Plugin's readme?
How to connect to Facebook using the downloaded Facebook app, and not the embeeded Facebook connect. This is done for example with Rockmelt app.
What seems to be done, is to launche a third party app using the url like (fb:some paramaeters) and having a callback url with your app (myapp://authentification parameter ).
The interest of this is that if you are already logged on facebook, you just need to approve or not your app.
What is missing, is what are the parameters to acheive this with the downloaded facebook app.
Just use the supplied Facebook Connect library as it handles all this for you. FBConnect by default will use single sign on either via the browser or the facebook app if already installed.
You can examine the source code of the FBConnect library to see how this is done if you wish, but I'd suggest that re-inventing the wheel is perhaps not the best way to go.
I have an iPhone app using facebook connection using FBConnect from github code.
It worked fine in the simulator, however when I installed it in the device with existing facebook app from facebook it didn't work. It opens the existing facebook app instead of returning to my own app.
Checkout this link.
Better you can go with the approach given in the link as it works fine. I have myself tried this code and it has worked for me.
Also the sample project (with Facebook API implemented in it) is given in the below link which will be helpful for you to while implementing the facebook API as per the method given in the below link.
http://www.raywenderlich.com/1488/how-to-use-facebooks-new-graph-api-from-your-iphone-app
Also you can test the sample project on your device before going for this approach
Hope this helps you.
EDIT:
Have you registered a URL handler to respond to return requests from the Facebook app? on iOS 4 the Facebook SDK uses fast app switching which is designed to let the app handle most of the heavy lifting and let the users just hit "Accept" instead of having to re-enter login/passwords
