My application doesn't have any jsp or servlets,it is EJB application, but it still says Unable to compile class for JSP: .Does anyone know solution to this problem?I searched the internet, answers were mostly that apache tomee and jre are not compatible, but i don't know what server to put since i should make ejb application(i also read that for ejb server should be apache tomee, not tomcat)..deos someone know which apache tomee server works with java 8?Thanks in advance..

I have compiled the following from the internet,
TomEE Version | JavaEE Version
--------------------------------
1.x | 6
7.x | 7
The J2EE 1.4 SDK is bundled with JDK 5 but... J2EE 1.4 requires JDK
1.4 or later. Java EE 5 requires JDK 5 or later. Java EE 6 requires JDK 6 or later (JDK 5 is at its EOL for 2+ months now).
So, J2EE version 7 needs Java 7 or later from what I understand. It is better that you try installing J2SE 7.
Please remember to do the following on the environment variables before you start the Tomee server
Java_home to J2SE 7
Update path environment variable to have /bin folder of j2se 7 available first
ref: http://tomee.apache.org/tomee-version-policies.html
ref: https://stackoverflow.com/a/2015780/258741

There are several levels there.
High level is tomee 1.7 and 7.x support any java 7 or 8. Note TomEE 1.5 doesnt fully support java 8 whatever EE area it relates to.
Your error is related to JSP and jsp compilation has the java compilation config in the conf/web.xml file. Tomcat website seems off ATM but this stackoverflow link explains it too Netbeans will not treat JSP as Source Level 7

Eclipse Missing javax.xml.bind With Java 11 at Launch of Eclipse

Maybe I should write as the first line: this isn't about writing code and needing JAXB as some form of dependency
I keep having problems when launching Eclipse 2021-03 and 2021-06 with Java 11 as it's missing the JAXB support. Several solutions I could find about this matter actually talk about how to make it work as part of a Java/Maven-project. However, I'm talking about Eclipse here, launching it, not writing code.
Side note: It also occurs while building a project of ours that requires JAXB, which works fine when built with Maven inside Eclipse. So it's an Eclipse-only problem.
This can be reproduced with MoreUnit installed and navigating in the Preferences to MoreUnit > Java > Mock Generation, which leads to this:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.moreunit.mock (932).

So pretty much the only information I could find is this comment from 2019 about an older Eclipse-version that could still run with an older Java-version. However, for two versions or so Eclipse has to run with Java 11 minimum. And that's where the troubles start.
Note that I'm a total noob in the JAXB-, OSGI- and bundling area and maybe I didn't understand that a certain answer on the internet may have fixed it for me. What I've tried:
adding -Dorg.osgi.framework.bundle.parent=ext to eclipse.ini doesn't fix it
adding -Dorg.osgi.framework.bundle.parent=app to eclipse.ini doesn't fix it
adding --add-modules java.xml.bind to eclipse.ini doesn't fix it, launching it results in an exit code 1:
[sjngm#sjngm eclipse]$ eclipse -consoleLog
Error occurred during initialization of boot layer
java.lang.module.FindException: Module java.xml.bind not found
Gtk-Message: 22:28:53.909: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
[sjngm#sjngm eclipse]$ echo $?

Anything else I can try?

Apache Mahout and REST Java Web Application Integration

I have a problem with link those two things - Apache Mahout and Java Web Application Integration.
I use standard Java Web Application Maven project and Jersey 2.4 to build my webservice. My application server is Apache Tomcat 7.
When I run this project without Mahout and try:
curl -i -H "Accept: application/json" -H "Content-Type: application/json" 'http://myhost:8089/ensembleRestApi/recommeng/algorithm/articleCore/cf?limit=5'
I got response and also can go through source code (with debugger)
But when I add Mahot dependency to my pom.xml file:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.mahout</groupId>
<artifactId>mahout-core</artifactId>
<version>0.9</version>
</dependency>
And try to do the same curl command, I got this AbstractMethodError yet before breakpoint in webservice method is invocated in my source code:
Do you know where is the problem please?

Ok, so if somebody will fight with the same thing, remember that this exception is because of:
Thrown when an application tries to call an abstract method. Normally,
this error is caught by the compiler; this error can only occur at run
time if the definition of some class has incompatibly changed since
the currently executing method was last compiled.
by Oracle
This means that you have some conflicts in libraries (which are in dependencies)
So I tried to downgrade my mahout-core library version and with version 0.7 everything works fine.
I just encountered the same problem, and it's because of a conflict in Jersey versions. For my endpoints, I'm using Jersey 2.14. But Mahout 0.9 depends on hadoop-core 1.2.1, which has several Jersey 1.8 dependencies. The AbstractMethodError is caused because your endpoint is using a Jersey 1.8 class which does not have this method defined.
Exclude all the com.sun.jersey dependencies from your pom.xml...Here I'm using gradle:
compile ('org.apache.mahout:mahout-integration:0.11.1'){
exclude group: 'com.sun.jersey'
}
In eclipse you can go to your 'Maven Dependencies' folder in your project -> right click-> 'Maven' ->'Exclude Maven Artifact...' for all the 'jersey1.xxx' dependencies and the exclusions will be added in your pom.xml file

Jar issue while deploying a war

well I have an application which I am building using Maven and running on eclipse(tomcat runtime) , it is working fine. But when I deploy the WAR of the project on tomcat (not using eclipse), its failing. The error is due to a coustome jar which I have included.

Run
mvn clean install
and your code again
sounds like you have a corrupted jar. Have you tried removing it from your local repository (~/.m2/repository) and
mvn clean package
again ? eclipse might not share the same repository that the one you use to build the war in command line.
I still have an issue , even after running all the above commands. As of now I have found an workaround where in I am deleting that JAR file from the Target deployed on the server and then again copying it. I think so manually copping the JAR solves the issue.
Check the generated manifest file in META-INF folder,
make sure that 'header : value' are in the same line.
I had the same issue and it was caused by encoding problems during the transfer of the war file from a Windows to a Unix system.
For this task I used WinSCP with the "Standard" file transfer option. As soon as I switched to the "Binary" format it worked and the war could be read by the application server.

error when accessing worklight server deployed on tomcat

I am sure that I just deploy one war file to the tomcat, but I have try deploying the war file again and again to test the app,Of course, undeploy the file before I deploy it.and the worklight server is 5.0.5,mysql 5.1.47,tomcat 7.0.37.Any help?thanks in advance.
Is this an installation using IBM Installation Mananger?
If you've used it to install Worklight on Tomcat then it has also deployed a worklight.war file during installation.
Make sure you undeploy this .war file via the Tomcat Manager view (typically http://localhost:8080/manager). I would also go to the file system and make sure no other files remain (the .war file, worklight.home, ...).
Next, deploy your own .war file (probably nantian.war or alike).

Get ClassNotFound exception calling greetServlet when GWT Starter app is deployed on Tomcat

Environment: Windows 7, Eclipse, GWT 2.5, Tomcat7, Java jre7
Created a GWT Web app project and let the sample code be generated. The app runs fine (w/o any code change) in Eclipse in debug mode. GWT compiled and deployed on Tomcat7 on the same machine. When a RPC request is made, get ClassNotFoundException for service implemention class GreetingServiceImpl. Log from Tomcat7 is below.
Do I need to add some setting that is missing in the generated sample code? I could not find any answer to this on the web. I am kind of blocked... please advise.

Try unpacking your WAR file and searching to make sure either the JAR file that contains GreetingsServiceImpl is in /WEB-INF/lib OR that the class GreetingsServiceImpl is in /WEB-INF/classes.
It is hard to say which folder to look in, without knowing what GreetingsServiceImpl is and how it gets incorporated into your build.
