Unable to add Spring Artifact IDs to project - eclipse

Can anyone tell me why I am unable to add the following dependencies to my pom.xml file?
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-web</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-webmvc</artifactId>
<version>${org.springframework.version}</version>
</dependency>
The moment I add the spring-web dependency the first error is displayed:
Failed to read artifact descriptor for org.springframework:spring-web:jar4.3.6.RELEASE.
The first two dependencies added just fine. No errors.
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>

<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>

</dependency>

If it's a Maven project in Eclipse do :
Right click on the project > Maven > Update Project
If it's a Java Project in Eclipse do :
mvn eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse -U in your console
If it doesn't work, go in your Maven Repository and delete the folder org/springframework/spring-web/4.3.6.RELEASE

I'm just going to download them and install them manually. Just would have been nice to use maven.

I uninstalled Eclipse and reinstalled it. I also removed everything that was referencing Eclipse in my local profile. I'm able to add the dependencies. Not the best resolution but something in their was causing an issue.

"target" subdirectories in package explorer in recent eclipse (at least 4.13 + maven 3.6.x)

So in Eclipse 4.13 (and maybe a few versions before) with embedded maven 3.6.x, when I open a simple, almost empty, maven project, it shows me these non existant subdirectories in project explorer :
target/generated-sources/annotations
target/generated-sources/test-annotations
If I remove them from source directories (in project > properties > java build path), eclipse creates these directories and add them as sources again, so I guess it comes from some maven plugin conf somewhere.
How do I get rid of these 2 directories display when I don't have use of them ?
And since this problem probably comes from a combination of maven 3.6 + Eclipse 4.13 + some maven dependency, here is my pom.xml :

Cucumber-Maven Set up with Eclipse, Source option 5 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later

I am totally new in Java , and trying to install Cucumber.
I have downloaded JDK and JRE and their versions are: jdk-12.0.1 && jre1.8.0_211 and set the environment variables.
I have also downloaded Eclipse
I am following the tutorial https://www.toolsqa.com/cucumber-video-tutorials/
I have downloaded all jar files here, C:\JavaJars\Cucumber
then I have referenced them in my pom.xml file (C:\JavaProjects\CucumberMaven)
Here is a snippet of dependencies:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

in command prompt -->
mvn clean install
I get the error -->
[ERROR] Source option 5 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
[ERROR] Target option 5 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
I am not sure how to fix it
maven-compiler-plugin by default will compile your project using Java 1.5 which is where m2e gets its information.
Your effective pom.xml will implicitly use the default settings in the maven-compiler-plugin pom.xml.
That's why you have to explicitly declare the maven-compiler-plugin in your project with something other than 1.5.
Add this to your pom.xml
<build>
<pluginManagement>
<plugins>
<!-- Default java version was 1.5, to change the default version added this plugin -->
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<configuration>
<source>1.8</source>
<target>1.8</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</pluginManagement>
</build>

Add JAR files to a project in Eclipse using Maven

I am trying to add certain JAR files, related to the Spring Framework, required for a project using Maven.
Project Name: Spring
Is it possible to do this using Maven?
The dependency is as follows:
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework/spring-aspects -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId>
<version>3.2.7.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
You should import the project as a Maven project. If it is not a Maven project you can convert it using Eclipse.
And then you should put your dependency as one of the dependencies in the pom.xml of the project like this:
<dependencies>
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework/spring-aspects -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId>
<version>3.2.7.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
You don't need to add JAR files manually. Maven will do it for you. You just need to define dependency in pom.xml.
Following is an example pom.xml:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0
http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<packaging>jar</packaging>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
<groupId>com.spring.test</groupId>
<artifactId>com.spring.test</artifactId>
<properties>
<spring.version>3.2.2.RELEASE</spring.version>
</properties>
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-core</artifactId>
<version>${spring.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
<version>${spring.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-aspects</artifactId>
<version>${spring.version}</version>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
</project>

Adding hibernate dependency in Eclipse with Maven and m2e plugin

I've created a Java project in eclipse and added hibernate 3.5.4 dependency to pom.xml file, but the only jar that appeared in Maven Dependencies tab is slf4j-api-1.5.8.jar. How should I configure Maven or m2e plugin to add all required dependencies for Hibernate?
My pom.xml file:
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<groupId>pl.edu.agh.bd2.tutorial</groupId>
<artifactId>HibernateTutorial</artifactId>
<version>0.0.1-SNAPSHOT</version>
<build>
<sourceDirectory>src</sourceDirectory>
<plugins>
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.1</version>
<configuration>
<source>1.3</source>
<target>1.2</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>
<dependencies>
<dependency>
<groupId>junit</groupId>
<artifactId>junit</artifactId>
<version>4.11</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate</artifactId>
<version>3.5.4-Final</version>
<type>pom</type>
</dependency>
</dependencies>
</project>
When specifying a dependency with <type> pom it won't be included into your dependencies library as you are expecting (a jar file).
Here is a list of basic hibernate artifact ids that I use to include:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-core</artifactId>
<version>${hibernate.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
<version>${hibernate.version}</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.common</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-commons-annotations</artifactId>
<version>${hibernate.version}</version>
<classifier>tests</classifier>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.javax.persistence</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-jpa-2.0-api</artifactId>
<version>1.0.1.Final</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-entitymanager</artifactId>
<version>${hibernate.version}</version>
</dependency>
Replace the ${hibernate.version} with desired version or define a property with this identifier.

This is my pom.xml. i am trying to runa simple spring maven hibernate example. But my jars are not getting copied to WEB-INF/lib/ folders.
i know this question is already answered, but i have defined packaging to war. Project deployment assemblies has maven dependencies setup and pointing to WEB-INF/lib folder but still when i do maven install through this pom this libs are not getting copied.
I am using Eclipse kepler and maven 3.2.1
please help i tried everything even setting scope of dependencies to different types and no scope at all still my lib files are not getting copied
