I have a request to replace the the "Ship To" area of the Paypal receipt that our customers receive to have a message that is something like "your item is available at ticket booth". Is it possible to do this?
Unfortunately the paypal receipt is a standard template.

I have pay button on my website. I want to send receipt to customer email about the details of the product that they just bought, i.e. product dimensions, product history, product manual. How to do?
Thanks.
If your button does not use an API to capture, then use webhooks or IPN to receive the notification on your webserver, and send the email from there.
I would appreciatte if someone helps me to clarify some PayPal concepts. I'm using PayPal to send/receive payments and I want to offer the users the possibility of get an invoice for the payments. So, right now I'm using the Invoicing Service API for the payments I receive, I call the service and get the URL of the invoice for the user and here is muy first question: once the user pays the invoice, how do I get notified of this in my application (without having to login into PayPal and check by myself)? Second: in the Integration Guide it says "PayPal sends IPN messages for invoice payments and for invoices cancelled by the buyer..." is IPN the only option to get notified of a payment in my application? Beyond this, I've start reading about IPN and testing the IPN Simulator, but after select all of the items in the combo "Transaction Type" I couldn't see the transaction type "invoice_payment" mentioned in the Invoicing Service API, so which type of transaction should I configure?
Thanks in advance, regards.
You can try using the Web Accept. Basically, the IPN simulator is used to test your IPN Listener whether it can listen to the message that sent by PayPal. It does not sent any a real message to your listener. For the invoice payment, it will return invoive_payment. You can have a try on your end.
In the documentation for IPN, it says things like "Check email address to make sure that this is not a spoof". But I cannot see what to do when that is the case, and how I tell PayPal I want to reject a transaction. E.g. do I sent back a 400 instead of a 200? Or alter the POST data in some other way?
Or do I just ignore the message? (The problem with that is that PayPal will keep re-trying, which is wasted bandwidth for us, but also means it takes longer for the user to hear about the payment failure.)
Background: I realize sending it back to PayPal and getting the VERIFIED message back handles most security issues. But in my case, there is some unique ID information in the custom field. If that is missing, or does not validate against the DB, I want to reject the payment. I want my customer to see it failed, so they know to go and use a fresh form. The alternative is to accept the payment, and then have to involve a manual process trying to work out who the payment came from, and then possibly do a manual refund. (Other reasons to do this might be that the inventory has sold out in the split second between them seeing a product on the site and clicking BUY.)
The payment didn't fail. PayPal is notifying you that the payment succeeded: not asking you whether you want to accept it. You can't reject it at this stage.
Simple send back a 200 code to let Paypal know you received the IPN, otherwise Paypal will try to send the IPN response repeatedly.
IPN is Instant Payment Notification. After the payment paypal notify you the result of the payment. Check if connection VERIFIED, and next if if the payment is Completed and mark the result in the database.
If you say to PayPal the ipn address in the cart, Paypal send you the notification. You can't say to paypal: "yes please, send me a notification" and when receive say "why you send this?" If you put ipn in cart form you can provide a ipn url with code 200, not 404. Or remove ipn value in the cart form
I'm building Invoicing system.
My client wants to send PayPal invoices without loggin to PayPal account.
I managed to make CreateInvoice() and CreateAndSendInvoice() functions to work (thanks to #Andrew Angell again!!!).
But now I need to "pay" the order. How do I act as a buyer, and pay the invoice?
There was no actually email sent to my box. I do see related record in 'notifications': "You've received an invoice XXX from YYY". But how, how do I "pay" it?
If you login to http://sandbox.paypal.com using the email address of the account that you sent the invoice to you'll see the invoice in the history just like a regular receiver would. You can pay it directly from there.
Is there a way in PayPal Classic API (PayPal Payments Standard with the BuyNow button form) where I can turn off the sending of the customer receipt email?
See, there's a bug currently on the PayPal website where it won't let you add another primary account. So, this means the CEO's name and primary email account are going out on every customer receipt. I called PayPal tech support and they said it was down for now, but after 3 days of reattempting to add a replacement primary account, the bug still is there. So, I thought I'd go another route -- not sending the receipt at all. Is that possible?
Unfortunately there is not a way you can turn of the email notifications that go out to the buyer.
