Fiddler websocket data preview issue - fiddler

I have issue with viewing webscocket data in fiddler. I exprienced it for a long time, probably one year or so.
The issue is I see some unredable chars in websocket tab instead of json.
the data looks like: < 1 0E B Tj ^ BbADbG$ w Y ...
I am sure that server send json text, as I can see this in chrome dev tools(network tab).
I think there are can be few reasons of this issue:
bug in fiddler
some options in fiddler wasn't enabled
text encoding issue
some data compression which enabled on server side and fiddler do not aware of it
I am not sure but seems I never had such issue in old versions of Fiddler.
Does anyone have same issue as I have?
My current version:
Telerik Fiddler Web Debugger
v4.6.20171.14978
Built: 21 March 2017
64-bit AMD64, VM: 65.0mb, WS: 100.0mb
.NET 4.6.2 WinNT 6.1.7601 SP1

It's because the WebSocket server accept extension and in particular the per-message compression extension. Up to know Fiddler doesn't de-compressed the frame message so in order to debug your application you must use Chrome developer tools or disable the per-message compression Server Side. You could also ignore all the client extension in the server so that the compression won't be enabled.

Possible reasons why my shadowsocks not working on virmach's server?

I'm a new comer to using the overseas server. Recently I bought a vps from virmach in order to see foreign websites like google and wiki.
I've been trying for a long time configuring my shadowsocks on my server.
However, when I was using shadowsocks-qt5 to connect my server, it was timeout.
And of course I can't access google correctly.
What I want to ask is the reason why I failed.
Here are things that I do remember to do:
stop the firewall on both computers;
build the .json file which I referred to blogs in China.
Here are the outline of my shadowsocks.json on my server:
{
"server":"0.0.0.0",
"server_port":8388,
"local_address":"127.0.0.1",
"local_port":1080,
"password":"XXXX",
"timeout":600,
"method":"aes-256-cfb"
}
Other useful(maybe) information:
my client OS version: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
my server OS version: Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
the client I choose is from: https://github.com/shadowsocks/shadowsocks-qt5
I could not help but wandered, are there any other possible reasons I've forgot? Can anyone inform me some helpful details to solve this puzzling problems? Thanks a lot!
I have not set up my own VPS but I have instead subscribed to the server provided by caonima.io, so I can't speak for any server related issues. Additionally, I have no affiliation with caonima.io. I did however successfully set up my client on Ubuntu 16.04 after having some issues connecting to GFW-blocked (China's Great FireWall) websites.
From what I understand from my solution, the client configuration is NOT the only step of setup. There are two layers of proxy access that need to be completed:
Client Configuration. Configure your client with the server and connection information. A successful connection looked like this for me with my command line interface
shadowsocks-libev command line client successful connection
System or Browser Proxy Configuration. You will need to configure either your browser or web access tool to use a proxy, or set system-wide proxy settings. To set system wide proxy settings, go to system settings > network > network proxy and enter the proxy information. Setting Socks host to localhost:1080 resulted in successful GFW-blocked website access (as shown below)!

NetBeans 8.1 Remote Connections SFTP Error: Connection closed by foreign host

I'm developing a website on a server using NetBean's HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and PHP support. I am trying to set up the remote connection so I don't have to use something like Filezilla every time to transfer my files to the server. However, NetBeans is unable to connect to my server over SFTP.
I'm unable to share screenshots with the actual information because this is for work and must be kept confidential.
Host Name is in the form: subdomain.domain.com
Username is just the plain username, it's NOT in the form username#subdomain.domain.com.
I am using a password, not a key.
I am behind my work's proxy but I don't think that could be the cause because NetBeans connecting to my server is the only thing that isn't working.
Filezilla works, Putty (SSH) works, Aptana remote connections (SFTP) works, all my browsers work. Even testing the proxy settings in the NetBeans general options works in NetBeans:
Anyway...
After entering in all of the server's information, I click "Test Connection". After 30 seconds (the timeout), this error pops up:
I tried looking in the NetBeans log to gather more information but it doesn't appear to be logging this error. Is there a certain debug flag I need to enable?
Like I said earlier, Filezilla and Aptana Studio can both connect to my server using the same login credentials.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for reading.
It turns out my system proxy settings (which were configured for my work's proxy) were preventing me from connecting to a server on my work's local intranet.
I had to add a proxy exception for the server and everything worked after that.

Fiddler blocks my Internet access when it starts to capture web traffic

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my computer and regularly use Fiddler to capture web traffic.
Recently, however, when I open Fiddler and
it strats to capture web traffic, my Internet connectivity dies.
The error I get when I open IE is "the proxy server isn't responding."
In Chrome, I get "Could not connect to proxy server" with the following error: "Error code: ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED."
Fiddler doesn't even capture any of the requests going out. The weird thing is that Fiddler was working ok just some days ago and nothing was recently installed on my system.
Searching the Internet for 5 hours, trying everything, and no effective response.
This also had no effect: http://www.telerik.com/blogs/fiddler-and-internet-explorer-11-on-windows-8-1
It seems that the proxy server created by Fiddler is simply not attending to any traffic.
If I close Fiddler or disable the capture mode my internet come back to normal.
Uninstall and reinstall Fiddler does not solve the problem, neither restart Windows.
This question has some similarities with my problem, but as I said, none of the answers worked for me.
Why is Fiddler having this problem, and how can I fix it?
99% of the time, this is caused by running a 3rd-party firewall which is blocking access to Fiddler.
1% of the time, this is caused by plugging a Windows Phone device into your PC over USB. The Windows Phone team steals Fiddler's default port (8888) from it.
Running Help > Troubleshoot and updating your question with its output may help.

How can I monitor HTTP traffic from BlueStacks?

I want monitor HTTP traffic from BlueStacks so that I can debug web analytics tracking - any idea how?
For example, my application calles my server. I want to know what actual API my application actually called during testing.
I do not see any HTTP requests in Fidller even when using the BlueStacks.
I thought fiddler capture all internet request done by any software.
Actually you can use fiddler. You see, fiddler configures the winINET proxy to go through it (the one used by internet explorer and all other microsoft software, but sometimes even third pary software uses winINET proxy config - that is why some programs just magically work with fiddle). Some programs ignore wininet config completly and have their own method of setting a proxy (like firefox, chrome). And other programs, like bluestacks, have no support for proxy at all.
But you can force BlueStacks to go through the fiddler proxy. A tool which can do that, and which has a tutorial on this, is ProxyCap:
http://www.proxycap.com/bluestacks.html
Just use 127.0.0.1 as server and 8888 as port number in configuration of the proxies in proxycap. You must also add HD-Agent and HD-Frontend executables in the rules, as specified in the last part of the step-by-step guide.
Unfortunately, proxycap is a 30 day trial. You can use free proxifiers out there. Find something that supports http.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_proxifiers
I did manage to make this work with proxyCap myself and haven't tried anything else yet.
I think this is better for http traffic sniffing than wireshark which is for lower level network sniffing
Use ProxyCap to let Fiddler capture the trafic.
ProxyCap forwards all Bluestack communication to HTTP proxy (in this case our proxy is Fiddler).
The full step-by-step guide, how to redirect the Bluestack application traffic through proxy, is HERE.
Use 127.0.0.1:8888 as proxy address. That is the address of Fiddler on the local computer.
Today I tried Fiddler - ProxyCap - BlueStacks. It didn't work at first. After I added "HD-Plus-Service.exe" everything was Okay. It seems like new bluestacks versions don't use HD-Network.exe? Anyway my program list includes:
HD-Service.exe
HD-Agent.exe
HD-Frontend.exe
HD-Network.exe
HD-Plus-Service.exe
HD-LogRotatorService.exe
In 2019, Fiddler has been updated to support Proxy, just set up your BlueStacks to use Fiddler's proxy and you can capture all HTTP/HTTPS traffic going out from it.
In addition, for latest Bluestacks3 version here are the list of apps you need to add to your both program lists:
HD-Agent.exe ( from "C:\Program Files\Bluestacks\" )
HD-Player.exe ( from "C:\Program Files\Bluestacks\" )
Bluestacks.exe ( from where you installed Bluestacks )
Fiddler has a documentation regarding how to capture traffic of Android devices: https://docs.telerik.com/fiddler/configure-fiddler/tasks/ConfigureForAndroid. You can use the same config for bluestack

No internet while running application in android emulator

I get internet access on the browser but when i run the application, the application doesnt get internet. I have used internet permissions.
Actually the problem is because of proxy settings.
Early there was no internet connectivity on the browser, but later I set the proxy in APN and internet started working on the browser. But the application doesnt get internet.
Any solution for this?
** EDITED Apr 13th 2010 **
To get the proxy working with WebView, you apparently need to call WebView.enablePlatformNotifications()
According to the HttpURLConnection docs (Proxies heading):
Proxies
By default, this class will connect
directly to the origin server. It can
also connect via an HTTP or SOCKS
proxy. To use a proxy, use
URL.openConnection(Proxy) when
creating the connection.
You should be able to enable proxy use by setting the system properties described here, however this may not work on Android - the bug report on Proxy support doesn't go into much detail on where the bug is (e.g. property not set vs property not used)
Proxy use can also be controlled using ProxySelectorRoutePlanner, which is used by AbstractHttpClient.setRoutePlanner. Unfortunately, this means re-writing the httpConnection code to use DefaultHttpClient
Hope this helps,
Phil Lello
