How to replicate virtual box linux server to my own server? - server

I have one virtual box linux server which shows only command prompt...
And I want to have that server files and Database to my another server...
How can I achieve that?

there are several options for start if use the same virtualization technology on the virtual box and the new server you could just create snapshot from your virtual box and than try to run that snapshot on the new server. http://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/CreateSnapshot
The other solution will be to transfer all of your data manually, for that you will need to:
Export all your databases the corresponding tools for that type of
database ( eg. mysqldump for MySQL server )
Transfer all files from old to the new server using rsync
Install the same software stack / control panels you've had on the virtual box on the new server.
Recreate the FTP, MYSQL users and restore files from the transferred data into the same locations as on the virtual box
Import the databases from the exported database files using the corresponding tools for that server.
This should do the trick :)

DB2 (version:11.5.0.1077) Command LIST ACTIVE DATABASES is not working

I downloaded trail version of DB2 (by following steps here:https://www.db2tutorial.com... some steps didn't come when i installed)and i opened Administrator:DB2 CLP - DB2COPY1 -db2, then i have given the cmd as
db2 => LIST ACTIVE DATABASES
output(error):
SQL1096N The command is not valid for this node type.
db2 =>
it's not working, here version of DB2 is:11.5.0.1077,Please advice how to proceed further.In fact not only this command, so many commands are not working.
The message:
"SQL1096N The command is not valid for this node type."
as a response to "list active databases" command
usually means that you did not install a Db2-server product, or you have multiple Db2-products installed and you chose to act on a client instance instead of a server instance.
You might have installed a full Db2-client product by accident, by clicking the wrong button on the setup program gui page for Install a product, or the installable image that you downloaded was not a server image (but instead a client image).
Different ways to see the node type:
You can see which Db2 product(s) you installed if you run
appwiz.cpl from the Windows Start menu and examine the list.
You can also see what you installed if you examine the log file created by the setup program during installation.
open a db2cmd.exe window (from Windows Start > Run) and in there run the command db2 get dbm cfg | more and near the start you will see Node type = ..... If your db2cmd.exe window is addressing a server installation, then the node type will be something like ...Server edition with local and remote clients. If you see Node type = Client, then you are not addressing a server installation. So in this case, you can either uninstall the client image and install a server image, or configure your db2cmd.exe window to address a server installation.
If you have multiple Db2 products installed then run the Default DB2 and Database Client Interface Selection wizard which should appear in your Windows Start menu under the IBM Db2 group. This lets you choose which instance to make the default, so that when you run a db2cwadmin/db2cmd window, then the correct product gets addressed.
If you installed a Db2-server product, then you can run db2cwadmin.bat (from the Windows Start Menu) and in that window the commands db2start and db2stop will be available, and the command-line db2 list active databases will report (by default) one local database called SAMPLE assuming you created the default database in the First Steps that runs after installation.
If you installed a Db2-server product, with all the default settings on a Microsoft Windows operating-system, then you will also see a process called db2sysc.exe in the Task List when the Db2-instance is running.
Verify that you downloaded the server image from IBM, and then re-run the setup program and ensure you choose to install a server product.

Where is the DATA_DUMP_DIR in sql developer

I'm trying to import a .dmp file using the Data Pump Import tool in oracle sql developer.
I'm connected to an oracle database running in a container on my local machine.
When I get to the step where I specify where the dump file is to import, where should I place the .dmp file?
DATA_PUMP_DIR is a default Oracle directory object. It isn't part of SQL Developer; the import tool is really just giving you a GUI equivalent of running impdp from the command line.
You can find the operating system location that Oracle directory object points to by querying the data dictionary:
select directory_path from all_directories where directory_name = 'DATA_PUMP_DIR';
The path that returns is on the database server (in your case that'll be inside your container too), and your dump file needs to go there.
You might want to create additional directory objects pointing to other locations, and grant suitable privileges to users to be able to access them; but they all need to be on the DB server and read/writable by the Oracle process owner on that server.
(They could be remote filesystems mounted on the server, they don't necessarily have to be local storage, but that's another issue and more operating-system specific. Again, in your case, you might be able to share a folder on your local machine with the container, if you don't want to copy the file into the container.)

Oracle Forms 10g Copy command

I am using oracle 10g forms. I want to copy a image saved in my PC to server. While I checked locally by using two destination of my pc it works fine.
Code is
the_command:= 'copy D:\WORKORDER\'||:title.filename||'_'||:title.page||'.jpg D:\vish\'||:title.filename||'_'||:title.page||'.jpg';
My server is linux based. So I used the command
copy D:\WORKORDER\'||:title.filename||'_'||:title.page||'.jpg \WEB\folder\WORK_ORDER\'||:title.filename||'_'||:title.page||'.jpg';
It is not copying image in my pc to serverlocation. I tried both forward and backward slashes. Please help
I'd say that you should install Webutil and use its CLIENT_HOST to do that.
Although Forms offers the HOST built-in, as 10g Forms application runs on the Application server, HOST affects files on the server - not locally, on your PC. Therefore, as I said - Webutil's CLIENT_HOST.

How do I get started if I want to use PostgreSQL for local use?

Good day,
Currently I use MS Access at home for several Databases (for personal use).
At work, I use PostgreSQL, which is infinity times better. I want to start using postgres for my personally used databases, but I don't know where to start.
I've tried reading the documentation, but still don't know how to start. I don't have a server at home; is it possible I can just make a local database/tablespace? Or would I have to host a virtual server?
Note that I am willing to use other open source databases if there is an easy option out there - MS access is just so... terrible.
Thanks,
So, it seems you have Windows at home. You just need to download full installer for PostgreSQL:
http://www.postgresql.org/download/windows/
After installation it will automatically add starting postgres server as a service on local machine. That means, server will always run in background, but you can disable that later, or just uninstall.
After that, you can use pgAdmin (included in default installation package) or other client tools to access the DB engine.
UPD in pgadmin, create connection with this settings:
'localhost' as hostname;
port - 5432;
user, database - postgres (for testing purpose only - you should create your own user and tables with restricted rights later).
Password for postgres (that is DB admin user) must be entered during installation process.
Server settings are stored somewhere here:
"C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.3\data"
pg_hba.conf - Client Authentication Configuration File
postgresql.conf - Configuration File

How to open Google Cloud SQL instance to see database

I have exported my google Cloud SQL instance to Google Cloud Storage. I have exported the file in the compressed format (.gz) to Cloud Storage bucket. Then after I downloaded to my system and extracted it using 7zip. How can open it in MySQL Workbench to see the database and values. Its file type is shown as instance name.
The exported data from Cloud SQL is similar to what you get from mysqldump. It's basically a series of SQL statements that, when you run it on another server will run all the commands to get from a clean state to the exported state.
I'm not very familiar with MySQL Workbench, but from what I've read it allows you to manage your MySQL database, browsing tables and data. So you may need to upload your exported data to another MySQL server, for example a local one running on your computer.
Note that you could also connect directly from MySQL Workbench to your Cloud SQL instance by requesting an IP for your instance and authorizing the network that you'll connect from.
You can connect directly to your Cloud SQL instance. All you need to do is whitelist your IP address and connect through MySQL Workbench as if it's a normal database instance.
You can whitelist your IP by:
Navigate to https://console.cloud.google.com/sql and select your project.
Go to the Connections tab and Add Network in the Public IP section.
Use the connection details on the Overview tab to connect
Then you can browse your database through Workbench as if it was a local instance.
