How to move my IBM api connect service from my mac to an Ubuntu server - ibm-cloud

I have built a working IBM api connect service (loopback) that provides local mySQL data to/from an angular website. I now want to move this service to an Ubuntu web server (appache) so that I can open up the website to external traffic. I have moved installed api connect onto the server and moved the project files across.
But I don't understand how to run the project so that it is available externally. When I run API connect the api is available on a local port address: Web server listening at: http://127.0.0.1:9000.
But in my webpage (angularjs) I can't call this as it tries to connect on the client machine, not server.
Has anyone done this before and if so, can you offer any advice?

You should configure your Apache as a reverse proxy, so that it forwards requests from your public ip address at port 80 (or 443 if you want SSL) to localhost:9000. QlikSense connection to localhost application using REST

Trying to establish a data connection using REST from QlikCloud account to a locally running application. I get an errror:
Connection to local resources is not allowed
The application running on my laptop is having a REST API enabled.
I was not able to use QlikSense Desktop so I had to login through the browser to QlikCloud.
I also tried giving the ipaddress of my laptop instead of localhost. It still throws as error:
Connection to http://<ip_address>:1000/v1/documents?uri=/csv/myFile.csv is not allowed
Should I be running my application only on a server? Any help is appreciated.
The data connections are "executed" in the context of the Qlik Engine. Which means that when specifying localhost the connection will try and load the data from the machine where the Engine is running. In Qlik Cloud case - this will be some machine in Qlik's cloud.
You can:
use QS Desktop (you've mentioned that this is not working for you)
host your service somewhere on the interned where the Engine can reach it
use some service (like ngrok) that can tunnel the local server to a public url which then access from Qlik

Expose Ngrok Web interface in same LAN

I have some issue to configurate Ngrok.
I have installed the Ngrok on linux CentOS server dedicated (IP 192.168.1.124), it works correctly the tunneling is ok.
My question is: how i can reach the web page on 127.0.0.1:4040 in order to check the traffic on my Ngrok server?
The web interface page is only accessible on the server where ngrok is running, but if this is a linux minimal server (without gui and any type of browser) I can't see it.
is there a way to make it accessible also in LAN?
e.g. I have another client that can reach the IP where ngrok is running but if i put on web browser http:\192.168.1.124:4040 nothing is showing.
I see from netstat that this port is not listening so isn't a firewall problem or other.
Is possible to change config of Ngrok? otherwise are there other possibilities ? do i have to use a reverse proxy or something like?
Any ideas?

Locate your ngrok's config file:
$ ngrok config check
Valid configuration file at /home/youruser/.config/ngrok/ngrok.yml
Add to the config file the following line:
web_addr: 192.168.1.124:4040
In case you want to expose it to all interfaces, you can replace that value with 0.0.0.0:4040

Unable to access jetty server with local IP address

I have configured jetty-maven-plugin in my eclipse Mars and I can run the server using jetty start and stop goals. I can able to access the website using http://localhost:8080/myapp but not using local IP address(i.e., http://192.168.0.5:8080/myapp) from my own computer or other computers connected in the same network via LAN and Wi-Fi.

I configured the server host to 0.0.0.0 from localhost to listen on all hosts. With this setting I can see on server start log,
INFO:oejs.AbstractConnector:Started SelectChannelConnector#0.0.0.0:8080
and it works only on http://localhost:8080 but it's not accessible from http://192.168.0.5:8080.
I also tried running that if the interface is accessible using the Networks Interface Listing as mentioned in this comment. and I got,

I also tried turning off my Windows Firewall/antivirus but din't help. My jetty version is <jetty.version>9.3.0.M1</jetty.version> and JDK 1.7. What could be the problem? Any help is appreciated.
McAfee Endpoint Security was the culprit here. It was blocking the requests with IP addresses from my very own computer. Turned off the firewall inside the Antivirus and I was able to access the site with http://192.168.0.5:8080/mysite from the browser and other devices connected through the network.
Sometimes some other program opens your port on external address before you do that with Jetty. It will receive all traffic instead. On Windows you will not know it if you reuse port (that is Jetty's default behavior). Check with netstat -ano what is the IP of the process that is indeed listening on 0.0.0.0:8080. Verify if it is your Jetty process only.
Then try connecting with telnet or netcat and see if you can open the connection and what is the response.

Application Server and Web Server on Two Different Machines

Today I'm hosting a Laravel v4 web application on a MacMini. Why a Mac? Because I created the application logic in Objective-C (leveraging my experience with iOS dev). Whether or not this was the right choice isn't the point of the question.
What I'm interested in knowing is how can I separate my web and application server. For instance, if I put my web server on Linode (or whatever) how do I go about communicating back and forth between the web server and the application server? Is there some sort of resource I can look to to understand how to do this?
Assumptions
Here's some assumptions I'm making:
I'm guessing Laravel and the Objetive-C Application are part of the same "system" and so I'm just gonna treat this as if you need a web server to send requests to a PHP application.
The Linode server will be a web server which sends request to the PHP application (Laravel)
Hosting PHP Applications
There are three moving parts:
The web server (Apache, Nginx)
The application gateway (PHP-FPM)
The application
The gateway and the code must live on the same computer/server. The web server can live on a separate computer/server.
This means you'll need your Macintosh to run PHP-FPM, which can then listen for remote connects and send them to the PHP application.
Macintosh
Install php-fpm on your mac. Make sure it can listen for remote network connections. This is usually done in the www.conf file in the listen directory, you can listen for connections on the remote network interface (whatever IP address the computer is assigned).
Linode
Install Nginx or Apache and have it proxy FastCGI requests off to your macintosh server at the macintosh's IP address (the one you set up to listen to addresses in the step above).
Firewalls
You may need to ensure the firewalls at both ends allow incoming/outgoing connects on the networks being used to communicate to eachother.

Fiddler for website running on remote machine

I need to monitor a http request and response for web site running on remote web server. The web server makes lot of web service call and would like to trace them.
If the web site was running locally, Fiddler traces every web service call request and provides me with a report. Could someone please help me with how the same is possible
*e.g.
If the web application is running locally and calls two web services fiddler shows the total time on statistics. However, if the web application is running on web server hosted on different web server hosted internally (intranet) and I ran fiddler on my machine, I don't get the statistics for each web service call. All I can see is the total time for the aspx page.*
So question is how (if possible) can I trace the statistics of each web services invoked by web application that's running on different machine and fiddler is running on my machine.

You could always use WireShark http://www.wireshark.org/ to catch all the packets, if you are on the same network as the server, that is.
Say you're running a website on port 80 of a machine named WEBSERVER. You're connecting to the website using Internet Explorer Mobile Edition on a Windows SmartPhone device for which you cannot configure the web proxy. You want to capture the traffic from the phone and the server's response.
0.)Start Fiddler on the WEBSERVER machine, running on the default port of 8888.
1.)Click Tools | Fiddler Options, and ensure the "Allow remote clients to connect" checkbox is checked. Restart if needed.
2.)Choose Rules | Customize Rules.
3.)Inside the OnBeforeRequest handler, add a new line of code:
if (oSession.host.toLowerCase() == "webserver:8888") oSession.host = "webserver:80";
5.) navigate to http://webserver:8888
Requests from the SmartPhone will appear in Fiddler. The requests are forwarded from port 8888 to port 80 where the webserver is running. The responses are sent back through Fiddler to the SmartPhone, which has no idea that the content originally came from port 80.
You can setup Fiddler in your machine and set it as a proxy in the web application you want trace. Easy inside a network, not so easy accross the interwebs.
