If gemfire.properties is specified then Geode locator fails to start - geode

I am working through the SSL example which means starting the locator using the properties files instead of default. So it's
start locator --name=IsLocator --properties-file=..\config\gemfire.properties --security-properties-file=..\config\gfsecurity.properties
Then whether the SSL is set in the properties files or not, this causes the locator process to terminate with an error
The Locator process terminated unexpectedly with exit status 1. Please refer to the log file in D:\Geode\bin\IsLocator for full details.

The same error happens if GFSH is started as an administrator.

This problem resolves if you remove the deploy-working-dir property.

FTPD Server Issue

So I am trying to use my xampp server and for the life of me can't understand why my ProFTPD will not turn on. It only became cause for concern when I saw the word "bogon" in the application log. Can anyone translate to me what the application log means and maybe how I go about troubleshooting the problem ?

Has anyone seen this type of error before? Please let me know the potential solution. Also Baseline update is taking 2 to 3 hours and then it's failing, it's annoying.
Thanks!
Check logs under
endeca/PlatformServices/workspace/logs/shell
There should be a log named like appName.rmdir_dgraph-input-old.log
with more info about the error.
Probably a non existing folder is trying to be removed or something like that.
If this is the case just create the folder that the utility is trying to remove and execute baseline again.

Running Kafka kafka_2.11-0.9.0.0 on Windows

I am trying to tun the latest version of Kafka (kafka_2.11-0.9.0.0) on windows. I did change the log and tmp directories in all the config files and when I try to start the zookeeper server and getting the below error:
[2015-12-20 18:43:10,826] ERROR Unexpected exception, exiting

C:kafka-runtime is the directory that I have created C:\kafka-runtime, here I can see that "\" is being removed.

How do I fix server Oops error when deploying Play Framework 2.0 application as a Windows service?

I was following the processes in this very helpful post:

Half way through writing this post, I realized that before step 9., you should terminate the start.bat script which you start up in step 6. When I did this, runConsole.bat would execute normally without all the errors I list above.
