My Eclipse suddenly facing some problem when start up:
And the project that I want to connect in TFS server is missing in Project Selection: (not the two I erase in the image, is the third one)
I am sure I have the access to the project as my Microsoft Visual Studio which connect to same project is working fine.
Does anyone have idea how to solve it?
Please try below items to narrow down the issue:
Check if there are any unsupported characters in your machine name
and workspce path. If it it, jsut remove them eg "My-PC" update to
"MyPC"
Remove the TFS server first from TEE, then re-add it again.
Unintall the TFS plugin (TEE), clean caches, then reinstall the TFS
plugin, add and connect to the TFS server to check that again.
#Andy-MSFT, thanks a lot for your support so far. My colleague have solve the problem by doing few steps:
Remove all the workspace in Windows -> Preferences -> General -> Startup And Shutdown -> workspace
Untick in Windows -> Preferences -> Team Foundation Server
Click use different Credentials and re-login your account:
The project now appears in the project selection and it is working fine.

I have installed a virtual box with Windows 10, Eclipse Mars, Subversive Plugin, SVNKit 1.8.11 and tried to set up some repositories in a configuration I already did successfully in several other environments. The SVN server is a Debian 7 system with Subversion 1.6.17. The following problem occurs only since I set up the above mentioned system:
Check-out: e. g. SVN-Repositories -> expand Repository X -> right-click on trunk -> check-out -> Error occurs: "Checkout operation for 'svn://host/X/trunk' failed. svn: E200030: There are unfinished transactions detected in 'C:\PathToWorkspace\X'"
After this the Subversive plugin stops working, apparently.
Export: same result as check-out
Further investigation got me to a specific file in the repository, which fails loading with "invalid handle" error. It is not in a "strange" path (not too long, no spaces or special characters) and the file itself contains no suspicious characters, just Unix line breaks. Permissions and space on disk are OK. Other respositories with the same properties DO work as expected.
I found posts with similar problems, but none of them applied to mine, apparently. They told me to wipe my workspace directory (which I did), but I just lost all of my settings without solving the problem. After this, I investigated the program directory of Eclipse, whicht didn't bring any more success.
Additionally, the ".svn\wc.db" file is still locked after the failure. Deleting the repository is therefore not possible until closing Eclipse. The directory is not listed in any project list/tree in eclipse like the package explorer, but the directory exists on the disk.
The same repository X still works in every of the other configurations I have. How can I reset these "transactions" in order to repair this? I really would like to avoid completely reinstalling Eclipse or even Windows.

I istalled TortoiseSVN 1.16.16.21511 (x64), which perfectly fits to the SVN service version. Same problem.
First, try:
Right-click the project -> Team -> Cleanup.
If that didn't help:
Restart Eclipse -> Team -> Cleanup
I got the same error in my case but in different situation, I was working on the shared folder using both Eclipse and Tortoise SVN, and Eclipse was not able to clean up or do any commit, so I tried to close Eclipse and do clean up from outside using tortoise. it worked.
I finally got it: creating the files "con.cpp" and "con.h" from the project had apparently been rejected by Windows. As far as I remember, "con" is kind of a reserved command or sub command in Windows. Renaming it to something else right in the repository solved the problem.
When you are performing any team operations in eclipse ( such as
commit, update, replace ) and if you cancel the operation in between.
The files involved in the operation are locked.
This is one of the possibilities for the error to appear.
To resolve this in Eclipse.
Right Click on the project -> Team -> Cleanup
If the above process doesn't work
Restart eclipse -> Right Click on the project -> Team -> Cleanup
If this didn't resolve the issue.
Remove these locks explicitly.
Ubuntu
Install svn if you haven't installed.
sudo apt-get install subversion
Then clean the project folder.
svn cleanup /path/to/working-copy
Windows
Get Tortise SVN from this link.
After installing, Right-click on the project folder which is linked to SVN.
There will be an option do SVN cleanup. Click on it. It takes some time to clean up.
Then you are good to go.
This solution worked for me.
i had an error also on the command 'cleanup' on a project, and restarting the eclipse didn't solve.
i had to disconnect the project from svn and re-connect later
I had the same issue, unfortunately, the issue with the device storage running out of memory.

I have Eclipse Luna with Subversive, and I had two problems to syncronize with the Repository in a Server, E170001 and E20030 (sometines one and sometimes both). My solution was:
1.- In Eclipse: go to to "Window" - "Preferences".
2.- Go to "General" - "Network Connections".

I'am having problem with team foundation server.(http://tfs.visualstudio.com/). I created project from there(http://tfs.visualstudio.com/). And I click Open New Instance of Visual Studio.
And Team Explorer is look like:
Then i click File>New Project and clicked Add to Source Control and selected My project name in TFS. So i uploaded my project and it added to my tfs project. But i dont know how can i share my project in tfs. I tried this:
Entered my friend live id(hotmail). Then he signed up and he did same steps like me. But how can he download project that already exist? I did not see specific setting for that.

He must use the menu File > Open > Team Project. Visual Studio will probably ask for a TFS server, when you set the server URL, he will be able to see the collections and projects, then, he can open the project.
Or, on the window you showed (Team Explorer), he can click on Source Control Explorer and open the solution from there.
Visual Studio will ask for a mapping directory.
If you are trying to connect to Team Foundation Service via VS 2008 following steps have to be done,
Install VS 2008 SP1, Team Explorer 2008 and GDR update (VS90SP1-KB2673642-x86)
Connect manually to Team Foundation Service
Team Explorer -> Servers -> Add -> type

Make sure to add /DefaultCollection.
I have been draging and dropping from Windows Explorer to Eclipse since I've started using it, and now find myself unable to do so. When I drag a .java file over my package, the mouse cursor stays a circle with a diagonal bar through it and dropping does nothing.
I have tried to change my workspace, create a fresh new workspace, deleted eclipse and redownloaded it. It still doesn't work. Making Eclipse run as admin doesn't solve the issue either.
There are at least two workarounds:
Use the menu File -> Import -> General -> File System
or use CtrlC in Windows Explorer, CtrlV in the Package Explorer of Eclipse.
I had this issue when Eclipse was running as Administrator. Setting it back just worked.
I figured out it was due to viewing the project in Project Explorer instead of Package Explorer.
Right click on a project > Show in > Package Explorer
You'll be able to drag-drop again at this point.
I faced similar problem when trying to drag-drop image file directly from explored zip. After I extracted the zip, drag-drop worked as expected.
For me it was the missing marketplace client.
It is noticeable when help -> Eclipse Marketplace is missing.

Im using Eclipse Galileo, and have configured it for Apache Tomcat . I have added Apache Tomcat 6.0 to Windows->Server->Runtime Environments, with the following settings:
Tomcat Installation Directory - C:\apache-tomcat-6.0.24\apache-tomcat-6.0.24
JRE - Workbench Default JRE (This points to C:\Program Files\Java\jre6)
Now, I create a Dynamic Web Project, and add a JSP file to it. But, when I run the project I get the following error:
The Tomcat server configuration at \Servers\Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost-config is missing. Check the server for errors.
Any way to fix this?
Probably, you have some problems with your server's configuration.
Follow these steps to remove and create a new one, it might help you.
In Eclipse
1. Window -> Show view -> Servers (If you cannot see it, you might need to choose Others -> Server)
2. From Server view -> Delete the server which has problems.
3. Right click -> New -> Server : to create a new one
In my case, after new server was created, I get rid of this "localhost-config is missing"
I faced the same problem once. THe reason for this is that even though the server is available, the config files are missing. You can see the server at Windows -> Show view -> Servers. Their configuration files can be seen at Project Explorer -> Servers. For some reason this second mentioned config files were missing.
I simply deleted the existing server and created a new one with this the config files were also created and the problem was solved!

1. Window -> Show view -> Servers
2. Right click on server -> choose Properties
3. From General Tab -> Switch Location
As Yoni already mentioned, you probably deleted the project named "Servers" from your Project Explorer. If config files for the server still present on a file system, the quickest way to restore it will be Right Click in Project Explorer->Import->General->Existing Projects into Workspace, then select the root dir where Servers dir located, set checkbox near "Servers" and finally click Finish. If everything works as expected, you should see the 'Servers' project added to the Project Explorer view and your old config files will be there. Finally, save the tomcat configuration which you had open. You can startup your Tomcat server without errors now.
From project explorer ,just make sure that Servers is not closed
You need to define the server instance in the Servers view.
In the box at the right bottom, press the Servers tab and add the server there. You by the way don't necessarily need to add it through global IDE preferences. It will be automagically added when you define it in Servers view. The preference you've modified just defines default locations, not the whole server instance itself. If you for instance upgrade/move the server, you can change the physical location there.
Once defining the server in the Servers view, you need to add the newly created server instance to the project through its Server and Targeted runtime preference.
If you're not too attached to your current workspace you can create a new workspace, follow BalusC's steps for server creation, and recreate your project in the new workspace.
I got the same error after installing Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers(Juno) but using the workspace of a much older Eclipse installation. When I created a new workspace I was able to get my Tomcat server running without this error.
Did you, by any chance, deleted stuff from your workspace, or moved it around?
When you create a server for the first time, either globally or through the project's "run on server" settings, Eclipse creates a project in the Servers view, as BalusC pointed out. Eclipse stores this server inside your workspace, in a project called Servers. The project needs to be open for tomcat to run.
(If you want, you can store the server settings elsewher. You can right click and open the server instance from the Servers view and configure various parameters and locations)
This happens when Eclipse shuts down incorrectly - delete the server and then re-create it again.
Remove the server from IDE and install again to it.
In my case, the server list was empty for Apache in "Run Configurations" when I opened
Run > Run Configurations
I fixed this by creating a server in the Servers Panel as in other answers:
Window -> Show view -> Servers
Right click -> New -> Server : to create a new one
this worked for me
In the Server's tab in Eclipse, Stop the Tomcat server
Right-click the server and select "Clean..."
Right-click the server again and select "Clean Tomcat Work Directory..."
In the Eclipse, select the top-level menu option, Project > Clean ...
Be sure your project is selected and click Ok
Restart Eclipse
4th Step is most important.
Go to Servers remove the existing server by clicking delete.
Click the blue link to launch the server.
Set a new runtime environment.
Close the Eclipse and launch it again.
Boom it works!
I have just installed Eclipse 3.5 for Java EE developers ("Galileo").
I need to add an extra plugin, but when I select the "Install New Software ..." menu item, nothing happens. Literally nothing - no dialog opens, no error message is displayed. If I have the Debug window open, no message are displayed.
If I go to Preferences -> Install/Update -> Available Software Sites, that dialog opens OK, I can manage the list of update sites, and test the connections, and they all appear OK. But I cannot get to use them to actually install anything.
Is it just broken, or could there be something more subtle wrong?

Start by checking you error log under Window -> Show View -> Error Log. See if you're getting any exception while trying to install new software.
You can also install by downloading the plugin and unzipping it in the dropins folder.
I ran into the same problem. There seems to be a bug related to the finish button (I am assuming this is the same problem you are experiencing). The way I got around it is by clicking on the finish button (or next, or whichever button is not working for you) and press the 'Enter' key. It's annoying. Seems to be an issue with how Eclipse is integrating with GTK.
I had the same problem, took a look at the error log and changed the launcher from "/usr/bin/eclipse" to "sudo /usr/bin/eclipse", it was a permissions thing...
GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true also solved the non-clickable button problem for me running gnome 2.28.1 with Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) x64 with kernel 2.6.31-14-generic
To resolve this problem, I did the following:
Placed my copy of Eclipse in the trash
Emptied my trash
Rebooted my computer
Downloaded the latest version of Eclipse (which was Indigo at the time of writing)
Placed the .zip file in my applications folder
Double-clicked on the compressed zip to open it (I'm using Mac OS X.6)
The problem disappeared. I am now able to do Help/Install new software....
I suggest to use Eclipse Indigo (Eclipse 3.7) which contains EGit already.
Something you can try:
Delete (rename/move) your workspace and try again. Be sure to backup all your projects and settings.
Download the plugin "manually" and use Eclipse>Window>Preferences>Install/Update>Available Software Sites to add it locally.
Download the plugin "manually" and use Eclipse>Window>Help>Software Updates>Available Software>Add site>Archive, find the directory on your HDD and add it.
I had the same problem in windows... and spent couple of hours to "somehow" install the new softwares.
Anyway I will explain you how I managed to install it after trying many options..
Start a fresh copy of eclipse
First tick two check boxes(Show only latest version & Contact all update sites). Make sure the check box of group items is untick.
Try to add software...
If not showing the list of plugins/Next buttons.
Delete the copy of eclipse.
Start a fresh copy of eclipse
Tick only the check box for Contact all update sites.
Now try to add plugins. It worked for me...
Even if it sounds crap... it worked for me..
If none of the solutions above work for you, simply change the workspace to another location. If the list of items appears properly then there's probably something screwed up in the workspace and not Eclipse. Hope this helps.
I actually just had a similar problem and wanted to offer the solution that worked for me. This was not a permissions thing. To solve that I always install eclipse as my user in my local directory (e.g. /home/[user]/local/eclipse-3.7.2) and then you never have permission issues.
Setup: Go to Help -> Install New software -> Available Software Sites (to add new site)
Symptom: Try to add a new site. After hitting enter or clicking finish the site shows up in the list of available sites. Click Okay to go back to the install new software and the site is not available in the drop down. Go back to Available sites and the site is gone.
Fix: After adding the site click on the reload button while the new site is highlighted (before clicking Ok to go back to the "Install new software screen"
This was occurring on Indigo SR2 (and has been happening for a while). I am running this on Linux Gtk -- but I don't see why this would be related.

Delete your ~/.eclipse folder and restart eclipse. This is the only thing that worked for me.
I had the exact the same problem. What I found out is that I installed the eclipse as root user. Therefore, I need to be a root user in order to launch "Install New Software".

I faced similar issue. To troubleshoot this issue follow these steps:
Go to windows -> show view -> error.
Check the error logs. In my case error was java.lang.IllegalStateException: Registry Directory not available. at org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.SimpleProfileRegistry.restore
I checked my config.ini which is under eclipse -> configuration folder.
I found eclipse.p2.data.area has incorrect path set.
I set the correct path for above key and restarted eclipse. It started working.

I have faced the same issue. To solve the problem, follow the following steps:
Window (Eclipse Menu) -> Show View -> Error Log
if Error Log is not there, then:
Window (Menu) -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Error Log
Once the Error log is shown, Go to Help (Eclipse Menu) -> Install New Software
Check the Error log, most probable you will see an exception there.
Check the exception, most probable it's caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException
Check the path mentioned in the exception, if you see ".Lock" in the path, close the eclipse then go to the path in windows machine and delete that folder.
now go to the eclipse "exe" file that you're using and open it as an administrator, then try, most probably this will solve the issue.
