Cannot Find the DrRacket IDE - racket

Hi Guys? Newbie Question here. I am getting started with How to Design Programs. I need the DrRacket IDE to follow through the book but I cannot seem to get a hold of it from the website.
The install I got opens a command prompt. How do I get the DrRacket GUI part to start, or which package should I install.Racket Screenshot

When I installed my copy, it created a Start menu group called "Racket" for me (under "All Programs"), with the "DrRacket" item in it, that is set up to run "C:\Program Files\Racket\DrRacket.exe".
Try finding this executable, and if you do, you can start it by typing "DrRacket" at your command prompt:
C:\Program Files\Racket> DrRacket
I'm on different version of Windows, but it should be similar, for you.

How to get Julia executable path in vscode on Mac

The message:
Could not start the julia language server. Make sure the configuration setting julia.executablePath points to the julia binary.
Pops up when trying to install run Julia in vscode on my Mac. I tried
Macintosh HD/Applications/Julia-1.7.app
But this didn't work and gives the same error
So after messing around some more it seems that you have to go all the way to the inner executable to get it to work.
I wanted to post the answer in case anyone else has this problem in the future.
Solution:
Right click on the julia application in finder and click 'Show package contents' from there this is the overall path i used as the vscode julia path:
/Applications/Julia-1.7.app/Contents/Resources/julia/bin/julia

Can you take terminal commands and use them in a Python program?

In another thread, there is an excellent step by step to completely uninstall VSCode off my Mac so I could truly start over. The steps work perfectly. In my question to try a lot of configurations and extensions, I mess up VSCode pretty often.
Is there a way to build Python file so when I need to uninstall, I can open a terminal window and run a program and be ready to try again? It is not the end of the world to have to type one line at a time, I'm just assuming this is common and been fixed. I'm just not able to find the how.
After doing some studying of Python, I found the OS module. Once you import it, most, if not all the commands to clean up directories, delete files, etc. are in there. I took the list of commands that ran in a ZSH terminal and converted them to os.[relevantcommand] and it worked fine. Now, I can easily clean out a VSCode install by running my VSCleanup.py and start over.

VSCode on Linux Mint, integrated terminal not able to type anything

Hi I'm running Linux Mint 19 and I have just installed vscode using the snapd package manager. I've not used vscode on linux before as my usual editor is emacs. However, on a fresh new install of vscode, the integrated terminal does not work, there is just a non blinking cursor in the top left of the screen, but no prompt and no keyboard strokes are registering. This appears to be a common problem as there are a lot of posts about it if googled, but they are all for Windows versions and none of the solutions that I'm able to try do anything. I've tried to open a new terminal window, but the same thing happens I just get two terminal windows that I now cannot use. I've also tried checking the box that says Code-runner: Run In Terminal, but that does nothing either. What can I do to get this to work please, I looks to me like it is just not connected to either a bash or Zsh(which I normally use). Any help on this would be appreciated.
Instead of starting vscode with its default shell script (usually located on /usr/share/code/bin/code), the integrated terminal only works for me when starting it directly from the compiled binary (typically found on /usr/share/code/code, which is the same as the launcher created by the installer:
/usr/share/code/code --no-sandbox --unity-launch %F
While I searched for a solution in the past I've also noticed that lots of folks solved similar problems just by adding --disable-gpu flag, so might be worth checking out as well.

Can't find pydev console prompt in eclipse

So I'm working on two machines and they both have Eclipse and Pydev on them. The first machine has a console that has a prompt where I can type in and execute commands when I run on:
The second machine doesn't have the same prompt and I can't figure out how to get it:
I've been looking around online and the closest piece of advice I found is that I need to find the console button on the menu bar next to the tabs and select to show/hide the prompt, but as you can see it's doesn't show up on the second machine. Does anyone know how to I can get the console prompt on the second machine?
Found the issue. I was using PyDev 2.8.2 which didn't support the prompt, I updated to 4.5.4 (higher versions don't show up in my eclipse) and now I'm able to see it.

Launch terminal from eclipse

I recently switched to Eclipse (Helios) for my programming needs, and I like it very much.
There is just on thing that is driving me crazy, how can I launch (compile and run) my code into the native mac osx terminal.
I tried creating an "external tools configuration", but that just starts the terminal without outputting the application.
What I do now is right-click on the binary in the Project Explorer and then "Open With" and then "Other" and then I pick the terminal app from the list. But this solution is driving me nuts.
Please help.
It's all about defining the External Tool correctly.
For example, the following should work if your selected file is a Unix executable.
Open a new External Tool configuration.
Set the location to /usr/bin/open
Set Working directory as ${selected_resource_loc}
Set the arguments to -a /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app ${selected_resource_loc}
When you run make sure you select "src"
This should work. You could improve it further. You could even write an AppleScript that would do that and run it using osascript.
