I need to create an interactive form (to be used in Joomla) with some multiple options to choose from which gives the summary at the end when the user got to final question to choose from (for example to calculate the cost of shippment: first there is the basic price and then if someone wants fast delivery he picks up this field and extra charge is added to the total amount with information what has been added in that price). What is the best way or plugin/extension to be used in Joomla?
I tried to look for such solution with no results.
I have done similar using RSForms Pro by RSJoomla. It is extremely powerful, but note it is a paid extension. https://www.rsjoomla.com/joomla-extensions/joomla-form.html

When programming i usually do everything myself and recycle code when needed so for once i decided to try out a development platform to speed up the process so i picked oracle apex- only to find myself suffering with overchoice
Normally if wanted the user to give me some data id just make a form and the data just ends up on my database, not hard.
this isnt what i want to make, this is just for the sake of an example of the way one usually goes about this
another example
But now in oracle apex i dont even know if this is even the right way of asking end user to input data into a table, what should i do if -for example- i just want to make the user run some calculations and then store the results? Is there something specific that apex already has for this or do i do it myself normally
Any tutorials or the names of the functions i need to use would be helpful
I think maybe what you might want is Report with Form.
Its a setup the Page Wizard can make for you which is essentially exactly what you want. You select the table and columns, then it makes one page with a table of all entries, and you can click on an entry or click to make a new entry, and it opens up a form with the relevant page items which you input or edit, and then save.
Maybe a general APEX guide would be best for you since you are so new to it. Because if you know what is possible, then you might find different solutions to problems you have. I dont have a guide to recommend unfortunatelly, but I am sure you can find plenty on google, just make sure the version is correct, it doesent have to be for your exact version(there is a big difference pre 18 and post 18, less so with 19 and 20)
Yes, APEX can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning. Your question is very generic so it is hard to give you a detailed answer. In general, if you have the data in a single record, then a form is the way to go (easiest is to start with report and from). If you need to modify certain column data after user submit, you can do that in processes or computations before submit.
Feel free to ask a question with your specific business requirement - you're pretty sure to get an answer here.
I am working with Sharepoint 2013 to write software issues and I am asking this question to convince management to improve our software issues work process. I have little knowledge about the service but I pick up fast. My question is:
What is the simplest way to let end-users automate input of certain fields in a form?
Following is my use scenario:
We are different teams that are required to fill in about 10-15 fields in a long form. For each team only two of the fields require new data to be filled in, which makes it time-consuming and tedious to fill in the other fields.
For when a new software issue is found: The team member that found the issue is required to state in the form the related project and team, who the issue is going to be assigned to etc. This data is always the same for about 8 weeks of time, which is why it would be positive if the end-user could have control and decide what fields that shall have automatic data input. The new data for each software issue is only comments about the issue and the title of the issue.
Thank you for your help!
We use generic .ashx handler(s). You can deploy them to the 14 hive under the LAYOUTS folder. We use these to return html snippets and json objects (depends on the design).
You could use JavaScript to fill the fields as you want. With the val() from SharepointPlus it would be easy. Example:
$SP().formfields("Category").val("Something");
Thank you in advance for reading this. Here is the situation. I have been working on a online guitar shop using Magento CE 1.7 for several months. I greatly underestimated the cost of the site and I know that is my fault not the client who by the way is a great guy. There where many issues that took a lot of time including having to move it from a testing server to the real domain, many logo tweaks etc. I am almost done with it and really need to “stop the bleeding” so to speak however there is one feature that he really wants that I am at my whits end with.
Its a custom order form for guitar pickups. He had one on his old site that was don’t in ASP and besides not knowing ASP we are now on a Unix server.
His requirements are “the ability for someone to choose a category (ie: 7-string, Strat Replacement, Tele Replacement, etc) , and then have it be able to only show options that are applicable to what that selection. I want customers to be able to see descriptions of each pickup somewhere on this page. I also want people to be able to see what the covers/colors look like when they choose that.”
I was able to use the way back machine to at least show you guys what he wants, here is the link http://web-beta.archive.org/web/20120127233223/http://www.axepalace.com/pickup_order.asp
Here is my attempt to create it with a product with lots of options. http://axepalace.com/pickups/bare-knuckle/bkp-order-form/bare-knuckle-pickup-order-form.html
So could anyone please give me some feedback / suggestions. My sanity would really appreciate it!
So I've been having a cordial debate with my coworkers (developers and designers) about the autofill tools for web forms. This is an important development question as it affects how forms might be built.
Q) What is the adoption of autofill tools, such as Google Toolbar or Chrome's built in feature?
Q) What are the most popular autofill tools?
Discussion appreciated. First answer with a reputable study gets the award.
Personally, I do not like auto-fill tools, and toolbars for that matter. Aside from the loss of screen real estate, there's too much bloat that comes with them. Also, with the way browsers versions are increasing, auto form fill applications are sometimes not supported in newer, more modern browsers.
I've worked in Government, Law enforcement, health care, and other public and private institutions and I have yet to see a good working form autofill tool, and if I did find a good one I can grantee that someone will be calling tech support because they submitted X amount of items with the exact same data.
HTML Forms can be built many ways, and forcing someone to build it a specific way is going to limit people, thus a form should be able to be built however someone wants, hopefully following W3C standards.
That being said, the most intuitive ones are those built into an application - where the developers/BA's create the auto-fill rules based on business cases and the correct algorithms, where users can define specific fields and parameters for data in those fields. Forcing an application to be built to match a 3rd party auto fill tool, which could change at any moment, or not be supported in the future, seems risky, I hear bells.
Update:
As far as revenue concerns, or a revenue stream for such a venture, you have to have an insight on the types of users that would use this software.
A form filler needs to be more than a generic: "This is a login page, let's put a username / password in". or a contact page "This is the previous data you used for a contact me page, fill it in".
A previous system I developed was an Action Item tracking system, with build in workflow / document management. Users asked for an auto fill for these items, which on the first request seemed utterly insane (demented is the word I wanted to say, but my manager helped me keep it bottled up). How would an auto-fill utility know exactly what to fill - but as I talked to the customer they expressed the following, which is valid for all autofill tools:
When I enter in a value say "Jane Smith" for "assign this task to", it would be nice if your system would automatically put "In Progress" for the item, as I always select "In Progress" as the status for this user.
As well, this worked for other users and fields as well. There was a specific flow on how this user entered data. "Jane Smith" items were always set to a specific department, status, and if the Item Type was say "correspondence" the Estimated Time was always 8 hours.
That type of auto-fill is what we custom made for them, and they payed well for it because it saved them a lot of time, mouse movements etc. AutoFill the way it is now is annoying at best for some people. But it's the pattern of the data that matters. It has to be intuitive and learn.
Once we developed this (it was easier because it was our application, we knew what was going on), about 90% of our customers jumped on board in the first week because of the time savings, sanity savings, and they didn't need to do ANYTHING to set it up - which was key.
How can I use/setup Tier Pricing with Configurable Products? (Magento 1.4+)
There was an extension to do this but I think it is only for Magento 1.3.
Tried to setup tiers in my Simple Products, but those do not show up, or do not activate when I add to cart from my Config Product page.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.
Edit:
In my case, I would like to use the Tier Pricing FROM the Simple Product. and not use the Tier Pricing from the Config. Product
Configurable products do not use any of the information from simple products apart from the attribute values on which the configurable product is pivoted. That means that Descriptions, Prices, Images and other data can be changed in the simple products, and the configurable products will not be changed whatsoever.
Unfortunately, hacking the price of a product in the Magento cart is difficult, as it is refreshed from the record every time the page is loaded, so what you're trying to accomplish isn't going to happen any time soon.
Your best bet might be to write a short script that will grab the simple product prices and update the configurable product record periodically. This would not need to hack through the Magento logic to work.
Hope that helps. Thanks,
Joe
For anyone reading this, use this free extension:
http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/Matt+Dean/extension/596/simple-configurable-products#overview
It will take the pricing from the simple product the only downside is you manually have to come up with a way to show the tiers on the configurable product page.
I know this is an old thread, but I just came across this myself. I am on Magento CE 1.6 and the extension recommended here was only up to 1.5.
I found that Grouped products do exactly that - they pull pricing (as well as tiered pricing) from the simple product. They are very easy to set up and work as expected.
I know this is an old thread, but following up to say that the Simple Configurable Products extension works great at updating the price in a simple manner.
Having one problem however. I only have a product image assigned to my configurable product, not the simple ones linked to it. When I add a product to my cart with this extension it adds the simple product, which means there is no product image. Is there a way to display the parent photo in cart? Totally find editing code if that will get it working.
I found a simple workaround for this, i have a configurable product with 3 options, e put this three options visible only for catalog and then assign this simple products to a categorie named tier prices, so, customer who want quantity discount just have to browse that category and found there all the available products.
Hope this help!!
