I have an systemctl service unit which has some runtime dependencies which get resolved during boot. Many times it reports "FAILED" state during boot. This service unit has "Restart=always", so ultimately after boot this unit starts successfully. But, during boot around 3-4 times it reports FAILED which I want to avoid.
Is there a way to ignore the "FAILED" state of service unit being reported?
(As I know it will succeed once the dependency is resolved or will keep retrying)
I found that the return value (including error) reported by failure of service unit can be ignored prepending an hyphen while configuring the ExecStart.
From manual:
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.service.html#BusName=
VIZ:
"-" If the executable path is prefixed with "-", an exit code of the command normally considered a failure (i.e. non-zero exit status or abnormal exit due to signal) is recorded, but has no further effect and is considered equivalent to success.
ExecStart=-/sbin/getty

I am running my UI Tests on Github CI and the tests are flaky. I don't understand how I can fix it. The animations are disabled and I am running the tests on a iPhone 13 plus. A lot of tests are running green, but some are not working. Locally, I got everything working.
These are some logs:
2022-06-21T13:42:23.2627250Z t = 63.34s Tap Cell

(Underlying Error: Couldn’t communicate with a helper application. Try your operation again. If that fails, quit and relaunch the application and try again. The connection to service created from an endpoint was invalidated: failed to check-in, peer may have been unloaded: mach_error=10000003.)
It can not find the cell because of these logs:
Unable to monitor event loop
Unable to monitor animations
I know this because I sometimes get different errors than the error above, which says that the connection to the application is lost, right below the Unable to monitor... error logging.
Is there anything I can try? I don't have a reproduction project. This is the command that is executed:
xcodebuild test -project project.xcodeproj -scheme project-iosUITests -destination 'platform=iOS Simulator,name=iPhone 13 Pro,OS=15.5'
The CI runs 35 tests and 5 fails randomly with the Unable to errors. Is there any suggestion to fix this problem?
I have Started my job using jobLauncher.run(processJob,jobParameters); and when i try stop job using another request jobOperator.stop(jobExecution.getId()); then get exeption :
org.springframework.batch.core.launch.JobExecutionNotRunningException:
JobExecution must be running so that it can be stopped
Set<JobExecution> jobExecutionsSet= jobExplorer.findRunningJobExecutions("processJob");
for (JobExecution jobExecution:jobExecutionsSet) {
System.err.println("job status : "+ jobExecution.getStatus());
if (jobExecution.getStatus()== BatchStatus.STARTED|| jobExecution.getStatus()== BatchStatus.STARTING || jobExecution.getStatus()== BatchStatus.STOPPING){
jobOperator.stop(jobExecution.getId());
System.out.println("###########Stopped#########");
}
}
when print job status always get job status : STOPPING but batch job is running
its web app, first upload some CSV file and start some operation using spring batch and during this execution if user need stop then stop request from another controller method come and try to stop running job
Please help me for stop running job
If you stop a job while it is running (typically in a STARTED state), you should not get this exception. If you have this exception, it means you have stopped your job while it is currently stopping (that is what the STOPPING status means).
jobExplorer.findRunningJobExecutions returns only running executions, so if in the next line right after this one you have a job in STOPPING status, this means the status changed right after calling jobExplorer.findRunningJobExecutions. You need to be aware that this is possible and your controller should handle this case.
When you tell spring batch to stop a job it goes into STOPPING mode. What this means is it will attempt to complete the unit of work chunk it is currently processing but then stop working. Likely what's happening is you are working on a long running task that is not finishing a unit of work (is it hung?) so it can't move from STOPPING to STOPPED.
Doing it twice rightly leads to an Exception because your job is already STOPPING by the time you did it the first time.
I am using boofuzz to try to fuzz a specific application. While creating the blocks etc and some testing i noticed that the target sometimes closes the connection. This causes procmon to terminate the target process and restarts it. However this is totally unnecessary for this target.
Can i somehow tell boofuzz to not handle this as an Error (so target is not restarted)

Excellent question! There isn't (wasn't) any way to do this, but there really should be. A reset connection does not always mean a failure.
I just added ignore_connection_reset and ignore_connection_aborted options to the Session class to ignore ECONNRESET and ECONNABORTED errors respectively. Available in version 0.0.10.
Description of arguments available in the docs: http://boofuzz.readthedocs.io/en/latest/source/Session.html
You may find the commit that added these arguments informative for how some of the boofuzz internals work (relevant lines 182-183, 213-214, 741-756): https://github.com/jtpereyda/boofuzz/commit/a1f08837c755578e80f36fd1d78401f21ccbf852
Thank you for the solid question.
We have an application in solaris during specific test case we will generate heap dump which will be written in to the server at specific path during this case we are getting following error in trace file

Can anyone please help here why we are getting this problem and can any tell us can an application cause this impact on mashost ..????
First things first, check out the NFS service w/ svcbundle and svcs -- when it crashes, run:
# svcs -x nfs/client
on the client, and
# svcs -x nfs/server
on the server. I would expect one or both to be in a "maintenance" state. (You may see it fails to start properly at all). If it is in a maintenance mode, you should see a row marked "Reason:" that says why.
You might see "offline" -- in that case, startd will attempt to reboot the service multiple times and, if it fails after five attempts or hangs indefinitely, places it into "maintenance" state and stops restarting.
Check the logs in
/var/svc/log/<service-name FMRI>.log
There will be one on your client machine under "network-nfs-client:default" (probably, may have a name other than 'default' if it's been changed manually), and one on the server under "network-nfs-server:default"
See what you can glean from those.
svcbundle is all the time taking snapshots as backups of services, so you can try reverting to one of those.
# svcs -s nfs/server:default
svc:/network/nfs/server:default> listsnap
svc:/network/nfs/server:default> revert start [name_of_snapshot]
svc:/network/nfs/server:default> quit
# svcadm refresh nfs/server:default
# svcadm restart nfs/server:default
Make sure to include the ":default" tag, or if you saw a different tag from "svcs nfs/server" include it, that name defines an instance of the service, every running service is an instance.
If the process is failing to boot, you might have to look at the XML manifest under /lib/svc/manifest/network/nfs/ -- inside, you'll see dependencies (and services dependent on this one), then "exec_method"s, which define how the service starts, stops and restarts.
Instead of snapshots, you can can also restore it to default: use svccfg -s <FMRI> delete to clear it, then svcadm refresh <FMRI> and svcadm enable <FMRI>.
If the service is in maintenance state, once you've isolated and fixed the problem, you can manually clear that state by running svcadm clear <FMRI>.
I am using msdeploy -presync to backup the current deployment of a website in IIS before the -postsync deploys it, however I recently had a situation where the -presync failed (raised a warning due to a missing dll) and the -postsync continued and overwrote the code.
Both the presync and postsync run batch files.
Obviously this is bad as the backup failed so there is no backout route if the deployment has bugs or fails.
Is there anyway to stop the postsync if the presync raises warnings with msdeploy?
Perhaps the issue here is that the presync failure was raised as a warning not an error.
Supply successReturnCodes parameter set to 0 (success return code convention) to presync option such as:
-preSync:runCommand="your script",successReturnCodes=0
