Is there anyway of preventing emojis from being input into a text field, e.g. turning them off on the keyboard. I have tried a input formatter and regex but not all of them are filtered out.

Using a regex where new emojis get added seems to be a bad solution aswell.
It would help if a version could also be implemented in node aswell for backend validation.

So I also use a max input on my flutter input which appends a character count on the bottom right hand side e.g. 0/15
Using the regex and typing emojis blocks the input but the character count still goes up.
Also without the regex the count goes up by 2 for each symbol and with the regex it increments only by 1.

Turns out the empty string actually contains content when certain emojis are pressed e.g. 🌬️.
The code unit field on the string object has [65039, 65039, 65039, 65039, 65039, 65039] as a value. This seems to be this

I'm using the inputFormatters inside the textformfield I've noticed that if one character doesn't match the regex then the whole text inside the textformfield will be cleared.
Update: I've noticed that the problem is with the regex because when I try different regex that contains numbers only it works fine

I'm creating a basic texting app on flutter. At the moment just hitting the spacebar n times and hitting send would result in a text bubble with n spaces. How do I tell flutter that just spaces should be considered null or should not be sent?
In general, you should trim the String that you're going to send with the trim method. Trimming removes whitespace that usually isn't needed, just like in this case. Input formatters are not necessary and may prevent users from typing. Wherever you're getting your text input and sending it, add in this trimming.
String toSendString = inputText.trim(); //Send toSendString instead of inputText
You may only want to trim a certain side of the String instead, which can be done with trimLeft or trimRight.
Then, if the string is empty toSendString.isEmpty, don't send the message.
Alternatively, if trimming every message is for some reason undesirable, you can just check if all of the characters are spaces and conditionally send the message based on that with something like the following:

First of all you need to provide what are you using for the input. So if you are using
Textfield for input you can use Regex Expression in the input so now one cannot start a sentence with a space this is a work around but will stop user to enter blank spaces all the way and should impose at least one letter required.

I have a TextField in my Flutter-app with multiline enabled

Whenever I have spaces at the end of a line (except the last line), they are not being displayed.
By that I mean the cursor sticks to the letters as if those spaces weren't there.
I will attach a screenshot. There are actually 5 spaces added where I painted the red line but you can't see them. If I type another letter, then you will be able to see them.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm making an email field and I'd like to either avoid or auto-delete leading and trailing spaces in it.
I tried using

but as soon as the user types any character it moves the cursor to the beginning.
Any other way?
You know users so I need to remove it or they will stay there forever trying to validate the field.
Of course I know I can do it before validating but I'd like to know if there's a more robust approach.
You can use inputFormatters properties of TextField.
It wont allow users to add spaces in textField.

If you're fine with the user typing in those spaces but just don't want them to be passed to your processing method, you can either use a validator to display an error message to the user ('no leading/trailing spaces allowed') or you can trim it from the resulting string before processing. You can use a Regex expression to validate emails as well if you want to take the validator approach. You can disable spaces by using an inputFormatter, but keep in mind that will disable all spaces in the TextField, which shouldn't be an issue for an e-mail field but might cause issues elsewhere (name fields, address fields, etc.)
