I need to LOG redirections , however not all the redirections of the page , only the ones that happen in a Method or a Page or something more specific , how can I achieve this ?
Some re-directions made by Spring, some of them made by OOTB code. So you cannot get all of them in your code.
I prefer doing this on load balancer side or tomcat.

Is there a way using ColdFusion to have a one page that can route url redirects? I have a bunch of one off page redirects and it is really weighting down my Git commands.
So Like:
abc/index
test/index
redirect/index
etc...
So I'm trying to figure out a way to move these all to one app that can route them to the correct redirect. Doing this on the server is not an option for me as our server admin has a lockdown on access.
the best is to have URL rewrites at the server level.
However, you can you use onRequestStart function in your Application.cfc and match the page being called and redirect accordingly.
Basically, have some logic added in the onRequestStart according to your needs.
Very new to Coldfusion, but not to web development so hopefully this is an easy question.
We recently changed a link on our website that took us to /folder/index.cfm. I want to make sure that when someone types www.ourwebsite.com/folder that it doesn't take them to /folder/index.cfm and instead to redirect them to another website.
Any pointers?
There are at least three ways it to do this.
Don't even bother with ColdFusion. Have your web server do the redirect. You are going to need to know if it Apache or IIS or whatever. You can then search for how that web server does it.
This might help you with some of that: Custom 404 error page not working on IIS 8.5
You can make a file at /folder/index.cfm and have a file that has
OR with cfscript
<cfscript>
location("newpage.cfm", false, 301)
</cfscript>
Note the addtoken and statuscode are optional. Add token helps because almost no CF website uses this kind of token. The status code helps because tells the browser that this is a permanent move.
You could intercept the request in application.cfc . In fact, in some systems all requested are checked for validity in application.cfc. You might still need a blank page at the target, but at least some ColdFusion is processed
Of all the options, 1 is my favorite, because there really isn't a lot that can be done with requests to missing pages. And the list of potential missing pages is unlimited.
I'm basically looking at a security problem between a parent page and an iframe with links to a third party.
I want to send a POST or a GET (doesn't matter which as I can control the other side) to the third party, but not expose any details within it (say a SID or a user token) and have it's HTML content (JS/HTML/Images) loaded into the iframe.
I've looked at server-side redirects, creating a proxy using webclinet/webresponse and am curious to whether there is a good way to do it.
Has anyone ever done this before, or think that the secrity is not possible? Hell, even if I'm barking up the wrong tree on how to solve this.
If anybody has any examples on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jamie
[Edit] Was thinking I might need to add some more details.
Say I have a parent page: https://mycompany.com/ShowThirdParty.
This has an iframe in it at the moment which will have the content of another component (also owned by me, or another team more specifically)
Basically I'd like to send some credentials to content in the iframe in such a way that the external pages can't read it, the iframe is put into a modal (I've done that) and the iframe has the restricted content with the auhtentication almost seamless and invisible.
I currently have it working as a GET url generated dynamically via JS and then passed into the iframe src parameter, obviously that isn't secure.
I kind of want some kind of server side redirect across a full url, but I don't even think that's possible.
You could try using AJAX and load a PHP script (with any parameters to the script encoded/encrypted) to query the 3rd party page and load the response into the iframe. Not really sure how your code is setup but there should be a way.
It can also be done by POST Method (submit the data to iFrame using POST) as it is HTTPS so the data you send to iFrame is encryped.
I am using drupal 6.
I worked on the site revamp for one of our clients and we needed to redirect the old site urls to relevant new site urls so that we do not loose the traffic. I have used path redirect module for same and added some of the urls.
The issue is we have more than 1000 urls to be added and there is no specific pattern (as old site was in asp.) so it would be 1 to 1 mapping for redirect. Adding it in url alias table via path redirect module is something which is hitting the site performance and again it is a manual process.
Is there any other better and optimal solution for this scenerio?
http://drupal.org/project/path_redirect_import
This module has import feature out of the box.
I'm interpreting this question as a question of performance (not a question of the ease of populating many redirects). Please correct me if I've misunderstood your question.
Put redirects in .htaccess
If you're using Apache, then your alternative is to put the redirects directly into your .htaccess configurations. There should be a similar configuration option for this for IIS as well.
This still means that you would have to create the 1 to 1 mapping for each redirect you want, but the redirects are not stored in your database so it saves hits to the db.
Advantages to using Path Redirect module
Note that the Path Redirect module can log when a redirect was last accessed. This statistic/tracking can help you remove redirects that are no longer in use in the long run.
There are posts on the Path Redirect issue queue that suggest that 1000 redirects should not be a problem but every setup is different. You will need to perform your own benchmarking to check the performance of your particular site.
For example in past my website look like this:
Example: www.mywebsite.com/keyword
Now look like this:
Example: www.mywebsite.com/search.php?q=keyword
How can i redirect people who search for a specific tag to my new link?
From "www.mywebsite.com/keyword" to "www.mywebsite.com/search.php?q=keyword"
I'm not so good with coding so based to my examples can somebody make the code that need to be inserted in htaccess file pls.
This are the examples of links:
OLD: www.mywebsite.com/keyword
NEW: www.mywebsite.com/search.php?q=keyword
That redirecting is called URL Rewriting, and is usually done via a .htaccess file for Apache, or with magic if you're using Lighttpd.
I would take a look at this website, which more or less explains how to do it (assuming you're running Apache): http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/sitemanagement/urlrewriting.html
The specific details depend on the web server being used (IIS, Apache, etc.) but basically you could configure those to redirect to a specific web page and extract the keyword from the original URL and place it in the query string parameter list.
For example, in IIS you would do the following:
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Internet Services Manager
Select your web site from the list and right-click to go Properties.
The Custom Errors tab is where you will see a list of HTTP errors.
Select the "404" page and "Edit Properties" to point this to a web page of your choosing.
The last step is where you will plug in your custom code that will handle the redirect.
