I am trying to install mongo on DigitalOcean but am getting this error:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mongodb-org : Depends: mongodb-org-shell but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mongodb-org-server but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mongodb-org-mongos but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mongodb-org-tools but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
I followed this documentation
My steps:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv
0C49F3730359A14518585931BC711F9BA15703C6
echo "deb [ arch=amd64,arm64 ] http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu
xenial/mongodb-org/3.4 multiverse" | sudo tee
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.4.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mongodb-org
But when I used this command "sudo apt-get install mongodb " it install successfully but throw this error "Failed to start mongod.service: Unit mongod.service not found." when I run this command sudo systemctl start mongod
I finally installed it by following these steps:
sudo apt-get remove --purge mongodb-org
sudo apt-get autoremove
Then I followed the official docs to re-install and it works fine.

I'm installing mognodb following step by step of the documentation https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-ubuntu/ but getting an error at the step sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org. Can't find any info to fix this problem.

Depends: mongodb-org-server but it is not going to be installed

Alos I've tried to install the dependencies one by one, but still getting the same error that points on other dependencies.
Import the public key used by the package management system
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv 2930ADAE8CAF5059EE73BB4B58712A2291FA4AD5
Create a list file for MongoDB.
In Ubuntu 12.04 (deprecated):
echo "deb http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu precise/mongodb-org/3.0 multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.0.list
In Ubuntu 14.04:
echo "deb [ arch=amd64 ] https://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu trusty/mongodb-org/3.6 multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.6.list
In Ubuntu 16.04:
echo "deb [ arch=amd64,arm64 ] https://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu xenial/mongodb-org/3.6 multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.6.list
Reload local package database.
sudo apt-get update
It will throw a warning

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv 0C49F3730359A14518585931BC711F9BA15703C6
echo "deb [ arch=amd64,arm64 ] http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu xenial/mongodb-org/3.4 multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.4.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org
I followed these steps but I am getting the error:
E: Unable to locate package mongodb-org
Could this be because my Ubuntu is not 64 bit but i686?
I got a solution to this problem. Follow these steps:
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo apt-get update -o Acquire::CompressionTypes::Order::=gz
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
and then try to use:
sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org
I hope it helps!

I am trying to install MongoDD on Lubuntu following the official instructions for Ubuntu.
But when I try to run this line:
sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org
I get this error:
jon#jon-HP-ENVY-17-Notebook-PC:~$ sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package mongodb-org
jon#jon-HP-ENVY-17-Notebook-PC:~$
What am I doing wrong?
Try "sudo apt-get update" before "sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org"...
Or try tutorial for Lubuntu, not Ubuntu, like this: http://tutorialforlinux.com/2014/03/12/how-to-install-latest-mongodb-on-lubuntu-12-04-precise-lts-32-64bit-linux-easy-guide/
May be it's beacause of the old MongoDb's version. Try with the latest MondoDb repository url to generate the file.
Before trying sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org , execute the following commands in your terminal
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv 7F0CEB10
# following is the repository url for Latest MongoDb version 3.0
echo "deb http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu trusty/mongodb-org/3.0 multiverse" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org-3.0.list
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y mongodb-org
