I'm looking to see if it's possible to build iOS barcode scanner with Apples vision framework (Xcode, swift). I know how to build a barcode scanner when view controller is active, However I'm looking to see if somehow its possible to scan without a view controller being active (Whenever a barcode is placed infront of camera, it becomes active).
I couldn't find anything on internet so looking to see if its even possible.

I have created an iphone application, which gets the barcode value from the WASP scanner and do some logic.
I need to know is there any call back methods available in iPhone SDK so that we know the scanning is done in WASP?
Please help.
Thanks,
Bharathi
Could it be that the WASP scanner shows up in the default Bluetooth menu in the iOS Settings app? In this case, it probably advertises itself as a keyboard and simply inputs what it scans as a sequence of keystrokes. There's no way to intercept this with CoreBluetooth - maybe you can set the focus to an invisible text field and use an observer to detect when text has been entered into this field.
This might be a repeat question. But i have a problem. I have an iPad app functional. The app is built in iOS 6. When i started building it i chose iPad as targeted device NOT universal. Now my client has asked for an iPhone version of it.In my iPad app i keep adding custom views as the client clicks "Add More".I add a custom view which is bunch of textfields, buttons etc.So i copied my iPad app and changed the Targeted device family to iPhone once and also Universal next time and tested it. So when i launch the app in iPhone configuration (keeping the targeted device family as Universal) my view controller stays like that on iPad. I cannot scroll the app also(not up/down..nor sideways). Is this the correct way to convert iPad app to iPhone app . Also everything is still with scale to iPad. Should i start a new project and start everything from scratch.Set the storyboard to fit according to iPhone configuration? In my research people said just change the targeted device family to Universal. But it doesn't work. Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks.
It is possible to convert the current project you have to an app that can be used universally, but it would take more time than simply just creating a new project that allows universal usage, and adding in the files of which you used for your iPad project.
Hint: You can use more than one storyboard when the project was created universally. It will automatically set this up for you.
I would also advise that you separate your files into what works universally, and what is specific for the iPhone or the iPad.
Happy Coding!
After many search i found that it possible to have an application for both Iphone and ipad devices.but in your code you should define unique ui for each device(two xib file).
I'm trying to recreate the Camera.app buttons and interface from iOS in my own, custom camera application built on GPUFilter. Specifically talking about the Flash, Options, and front vs back camera button toggle that are across the top of the app:
Curious to know if these are built into Storyboards as UI objects or if there's another easy way to recreate these without totally reprogramming. I'm also interested in using the overlay table view that they use (in picture above) for options.
Thanks!
You can using AVCamCaptureManager and AVCamRecorder classes. Apple has a demo program build on its developer site here.
I have a very rare problem on iOS (iphone).
i developed the site yolieva.de with a videoclip which also runs on ios. but it plays in the background because on top is the navigation with z-index. but it is not accessible from ios. kind of disabled because of the videoclip. you may want to try it with an iphone and you see you cant click through the siteā¦
how to solve this? i want to keep the navigation above the video
I think this has something to do with how iOS deals with the videoclip, so I am not sure that you can do anything about it directly.
Why don't you make the div containing the flash player (id player) smaller on the iphone?
In fact, on the iphone your flash video is not shown in place, there is anyway a change of view, so there is no need of having it full screen either. Of course, you should make your flash player div smaller only for iOS, not other browsers, where it is fine that it is full screen...
This is a bit curly, and I am not sure there is an answer.
I have a simple application that uses a handheld bluetooth scanner paired to an iPhone to keep lists of parcels coming of the back of trucks.
The scanner acts-as a keyboard sending character strings on scan. In the application the user must pair with the scanner in settings.
Upon scan complete a textfield is populated with the sent string. The last character is a return char, at which time the contents are added to a datasource for a UITableView.
The problem is this; Once the scanner has been used once the system seems to recognize it as the only user input. Any future attempt to bring up the soft keyboard fails. This goes beyond the scanning application ~ quitting the app completely and attempting to use Apples SMS app also fails to bring up the keyboard.
Is there any (apple legal) way of either using both or setting preferred input device? There seems to be a myriad of legal issues around Bluetooth and accessories, I am wondering if I am out of luck. Has anyone heard of anything that might help me out?
It appears I am not alone (as in this post regarding iPad soft keyboard)
I think you've pretty much covered it.
According to HT4111:
You can stop using a Bluetooth accessory by either turning off the accessory, or turning off Bluetooth on iPad.
According to Gizmodo's 10 iPad Essential Tips & Tricks:
When you have a Bluetooth keyboard connected to your iPad, the virtual keyboard will cease to appear. (This is a good thing.) However, what if, for some random reason, you needed that virtual keyboard? Don't unpair your Bluetooth. Just... Hit the eject key on Apple's physical keyboard. It'll bring up the virtual one.
If there's an off button on the scanner, then hit that. If you have an actual bluetooth keyboard, then use that (or hit its eject button if it's an Apple keyboard). If you have control over the design of the scanner hardware, then you can add a "show keyboard" button (I'm not sure which keycode Apple uses for "eject") if turning it off is too tedious.
Socket Mobile just added a new "double tap" feature to their Bluetooth barcode scanner that lets you open the onscreen keboard. There's a video demo on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/socketmobile
