Getting a following error on Tableau for my Teradata Query
[Teradata][ODBC Teradata Driver]Teradata DatabaseSyntax error: ORDER BY is not allowed in subqueries.
Even after removing the ORDERBY, I get the following error
[Teradata][ODBC Teradata Driver]Teradata DatabaseSyntax error: All expressions in a derived table must have an explicit name.
Pleas see my query
Tableau, Teradata and ORDER BY don't jive, but you can order once you're in Tableau without the ORDER BY in the query.
For the explicit name, you need to be sure all aggregated columns are given a column name or alias.

I'm new to PostgreSQL, and I have the following code
select unnest(xpath(
'//ns2:ProcedureCategory/text()',messagebody::xml,
array[array['ns2','urn:wco:datamodel:WCO:DEC-DMS:2']]
))::text
from sw_customs_message scm
where unnest(xpath(
'//ns2:ProcedureCategory/text()',messagebody::xml,
array[array['ns2','urn:wco:datamodel:WCO:DEC-DMS:2']]
))::text = 'H7'
and I get the error message
SQL Error [0A000]: ERROR: set-returning functions are not allowed in WHERE
Position: 172
Set returning functions should be used in the FROM clause. Then you can also reference the result columns in the WHERE clause:
select u.val::text
from sw_customs_message scm
cross join unnest(xpath('//ns2:ProcedureCategory/text()',
scm.messagebody::xml,
array[array['ns2','urn:wco:datamodel:WCO:DEC-DMS:2']])) as u(val)
where u.val::text = 'H7'
Note that typically xmltable() is easier and more flexible to use if you want to turn an XML value into rows and columns. And if you are storing XML in a column, the column should be defined as xml not something else.
I am trying to query from a table within a copy command however, I have continually gotten errors. Here is the example SQL statement.
copy schema.table
from 's3://bucket/folder`
iam_role (select value from roles.iam where key = 'IAMRole');
The inner select statement on its own returns a value however, when I run the above, I get the following error:
SQL Error [500310] [42601]: [Amazon](500310) Invalid operation: syntax error at or near "("
The COPY command, as you must suspect, does not support embedded SQL.
If you want to do something like this, you can, but you'll need a procedure.
I am using snowflake as a data warehouse. I have a CSV file at AWS S3. I am writing a merge sql to merge data received in CSV to the table in snowflake. I have a column in time dimension table with data type as Number(38,0) data type in SF. This table holds all dates time, one e.g. is of column
time_id= 232 and time=12:00
In CSV I am getting a column with the label as time and value as 12:00.
In merge sql I am fetching this value and trying to get time_id for it.
update table_name set start_time_dim_id = (select time_id from time_dim t where t.time_name = csv_data.start_time_dim_id)
On this statement I am getting this error "SQL compilation error: Unsupported subquery type cannot be evaluated"
I am struggling to solve it, during this I google for it and got one reference for it
https://github.com/snowflakedb/snowflake-connector-python/issues/251
So want to make sure if anyone have encountered this issue? If yes, will appreciate pointers over it.
It seems like a conversion issue. I suggest you to check the data in CSV file. Maybe there is a wrong or missing value. Please check your data, and make sure it returns numeric values
create table simpleone ( id number );
insert into simpleone values ( True );
The last statement fails with:
SQL compilation error: Expression type does not match column data type, expecting NUMBER(38,0) but got BOOLEAN for column ID
If you provide sample data, and SQL to produce this error, maybe we can provide a solution.
unfortunately correlated and nested subqueries in Snowflake are a bit limited at this stage.
I would try running something like this:
update table_name
set start_time_dim_id= time_id
from time_dim
where t.time_name=csv_data.start_time_dim_id
SELECT peridle, CPU
FROM (SELECT MAX(peridle) FROM try2);
While executing this query in hive I am getting following error
Parse Error: line 1:47 cannot recognize input near 'select' 'MAX' '(' in expression specification
Please suggest a solution how to use aggregate functions in hive subquery
At least two things need to be fixed here:
You are not returning fields named peridle or CPU from the sub-query, yet you are trying to select them.
Hive requires you to alias all sub-queries, even if you don't reference the alias. You can quickly do this by changing the ); at the end to ) x; (or however you want to call it).
The requirement is to generate a single report connecting to a single DB:
Query1 is a group by query and has a bar chart and pie chart based on it.
Query2 is a simple query on which a table gets created.
Both these queries need results based on a WHERE clause, which is supplied dynamically.
Can somebody point me to some examples on how to achieve this?
Thank you.
You can tell JasperReports to use a parameter to define part of the query using the $P!{PARAMETER_NAME} syntax. This tells JasperReports to use the literal value of PARAMETER_NAME as part of the query. You can then do:
Create a parameter named WHERE_CLAUSE in the report.
Give WHERE_CLAUSE a default value of 1=1.
Consider the following SQL statement:
SELECT * FROM table WHERE $P!{WHERE_CLAUSE}
The $P! expression changes the literal SQL statement to:
SELECT * FROM table WHERE 1=1
That is a valid query. Note the difference between $P{} and $P!{} -- the exclamation mark (!) is important.
You can then supply the SQL conditions dynamically.
