For a while, I have noticed that my config.js file is grey, compared to most other files in the editor. I also have an issue where, other than text/html and image/x-icon, the MIME type of static assets cannot be established. I am wondering whether the two issues are related.
Aside from setting up the server, the config file serves a base Url along with NodeJS global variables to be interpolated into placeholders in the HTML document. While I don't see any reason for there to be an associated problem, I am perplexed why the file is grey and not the same colour as the other .js files.
I have tried to find information on the problem, but I cannot describe the problem well enough to find answers to the issue browser searching. I have tried to find a VSCode forum, but there isn't one where I could make enquiry, even if I were able to articulate my problem.
If anyone has answer to why the file is greyed-out I would appreciate it.

I fixed the problem, altough i can't tell you where the error originated.
I downloaded the typo3_src-8.7.2 source files and overrode all my files via ftp, because i compared the whole folder with phpstorm beforehand and some files were empty on my side.
Theres a few questions similar to this, so I'll try to be clear as possible.
We have an existing, fairly large and complex, GWT webgame I have been asked to make work offline. It has to be offline in pretty much the strictest sense.
Imagine we have been told to make it work off a CD Rom.
So installation is allowed, but we cant expect the users to go to a Chrome/Firefox store and install it from there. It would need to be off the disc.
Likewise, altering of the browsers start-up flags would be unreasonable to expect of users.
Ideally, it would be nice if they just clicked a HTML file for the start page and it opened in their browsers of choice.
We successfully got it working this way in Firefox by adding;
"<add-linker name='xsiframe' />"
To our gwt.xml settings. This seems to solve any security issues FF has with local file access.
However, this does not solve the problem for Chrome.
The main game starts up, but various file requests are blocked due to security issues like these;
XMLHttpRequest cannot load file:///E:/Game%20projects/[Thorn]%20Game/ThornGame/text/messages_en.properties. Now I was aware same origin policy issues might popup as during development we often tested locally using flags in chrome to bi-pass them.
Thing is...now I dont know how to get around them when we cant use startup flags.
Obviously in the example given its just the .properties file GWT uses to get some language related text. I could dump that inline in one way or another.
However, its only one of many,many,many files being blocked.
The whole game was made to run off *.txt game scripts on the sever - to allow easy updating by non-coders. Really the actual GWT code is just an "engine" and all the XMLHttpRequested files supply the actual "game".
These files are of various types; csv, txt, ntlist, jam.
The last two being custom extensions for what are really just txt files.
All these files are blocked by chromes security. It seems from what I can make out only images are allowed to be accessed locally.
Having all these files compiled in would just be impossible, as they are not fixed in number (ie, one central .txt file determains various scene .txt files which in turn determain various object files and directory's...).
Putting all this into a bundle would be nightmare to create and maintain.
So in essence I need some way to supply a offline version of a GWT project that can access a large number of various files in its subdirectories without security issues.
So far all I can think of is;
A) Theres something I can tell chrome via html or gwt that allows these files to be read in Chrome like FF can. (I suspect this isn't possible).
An alternative to XMLHttpRequest maybe?
B) I need to somehow package a game+a webbrowser in a executable package that has permission to access files in its directory's. (http://www.appcelerator.com/titanium ? ?? ).
C) I need to package and have the user run a full webserver that can then deliver all these files in a XMLHttp accessible way.
D) Bit of a funny one...we cant tell the user to add flags to browser start up...but Maybe I could write a game installer which just detects if they have Chrome or Firefox. It then opens up the games html in their browser with the correct flags for them? This would open up security issues if they browse elsewhere with that instance though, so Id presumably need other flags to disable the url bar if that's possible.
I am happy to make various changes to our code to achieve any of this - but as mentioned above theres no way to determain all the files needing to be accessed at compile time.
And finally, of course, it all has to be as easy as possible for the end user.
Ideally just clicking a html file, or installing something no more complex then a standard windows program.
Thanks for reading this rather long explanation, any pointers and ideas would be very welcome. I especially will appreciate multiple different options or feedback from anyone that's done this.

This works and does what I need (and much much more)
To help others that might want to use it, I specifically made two critical changes to the example project;
Because CEF needs a absolute path to the web apps local html, I wrote a c++ function to get the directory the .exe was launched from. This was a platform specific implementation, so if supporting a few OS's (which CEF does) be sure to write dedicated code for each.
Because my webapp will make use of local files, I enabled the Chrome flag for this by changing the browser settings;
browser_settings.file_access_from_file_urls = STATE_ENABLED;
These two changes were enough to get my app working, but it is obviously the bare minimum to make a application. Hopefully my finding will help others.
I'd suggest going the wrapper route. That is, provide a minimal browser implementation that opens your files directly. Options are Chromium Embedded[1]. If the nature of the application absolutely requires the files to be served as non-file urls then bundle a minimal webserver, have the on-disk executable start the server and open the bundled browser with whatever startup arguments you want.

I got a very weird situation that highly needs your assistance. I appreciate your effort and time in advance.
I have a machine which produces a text file that records some information of the machine's working status such as, the coordinate of the drill head and the rotating speed used at that position. While we examine the text file, it appears to be unreadable because most of the contents are garbled. Please see the attached figure. http://ppt.cc/sA1I

As you can see some part of the file is readable; however many unrecognizable characters, which should be those numeric values we want.
Two reasons that I believe this problem should be solved by Matlab. First, I am sure this machine has many built-in matlab code inside for analysis purpose. Second, we have a .exe file, which is compiled by Matlab, can restore the garbled text file into arranged and readable format (the values of the coordinates are restored).
We desperately want to see the contents of this file by ourselves. Please kindly provide solution or idea or any direction for me to solve this issue.

Old question without answer: For the record, a suggestion.
Sounds like a case of Mojibake, a problem with text encoding. Here's how I solved it.
Background: I had text files created on a Mac, others on a Windows, others still on Linux, each in different text encoding. So I got a text editor that would allow me to view the format and to change it. In my case, I used TextMate on MacOS, opened the files, picked the correct encoding upon opening, which sometimes was a Windows format, a Mac format, sometimes a Latin format -- had to use trial and error to figure it out based on a preview this particular piece of software gave me. Once I had the file opened in the correct encoding, I would save it in the utf-8format, which is not platform-specific and allows me to move my text files across various computers.
There may be more scalable methods, but I only had a hundred or so files to deal with, so I opted for the manual method, in order to personally visualize the rendering on screen, and because my files came in different encoding to begin with.
My eclipse project has one glitch and one glitch only which is a line of code in automatically generated R file.
How do I find the associated error be it in layout of my resources or in my values strings? I don't know where the error or disfunction is from in the R file.

Check your eclipse Problem or Marker tab, which will tell you exactly which xml resource or image have problem.
I have had this issue on many occasions and sometimes the warnings or error markers do no point to any specific issue.
It could be a letter has been typed in a resource file such as strings.xml or incorrect syntax in one of your layout files.
The most thorough approach, and one that I have had to do when I have exhausted other options, is to go over each of your resources that you have edited since it was last working correctly and look for things like a missing semi-colon or an incorrectly placed letter.
Check your resources such as your layout files, your color and string resources. Any of your .xml files could have an issue with them so check them all. More often than not it is something miniscule so don't give up looking.
Within the Netbeans 6.5's Tools -> Options -> Fonts & Colors -> Syntax dialog, you have the ability to change the look and feel of the Netbeans text editor. When you select a language, you are presented with a preview of your font/color scheme. However, when I preview Java, there are far more options for syntax changes than are being displayed in that preview window. If I were able to view a more robust piece of code, I'd be able to see the immediate effect of more of the options.
How can I supply a preview document to view my font/color changes?

After looking into this some more, I've been able to narrow down the problem a bit. From what I can tell, everything in Netbeans is considered a plugin. The GUI editor is a plugin, and even the text editor is a plugin. This means that what ever piece of Netbeans that actually analyzes Java code and does syntax highlights is also a plugin (since Java is just one of many languages Netbeans highlights, it makes sense this is a plugin).
I think fromvega is on the right track with his suggestion. The tutorial for creating a manifest file editing plugin pointed me in the right direction. The tutorial eludes to a file used as a sample document used for font/color previews. It tells you how to create one inside this new plugin project. (Located in "Registering the Options in the NetBeans System Filesystem", part 4. About 4/5 of the way down the page.)
My next line of thought was to look for the Java syntax editing mode plugin and find this file and update it with a richer example file. I looked in the installation directory and came up empty, but I found what looks like the appropriate files within my user settings directory. There is a config directory with a lot of subfolders within my user directory (Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\saterus.netbeans\config).
I've been poking around inside this directory a bit, but have only found the xml files the manifest tutorial talks about. I have been unable to find the extensionless sample file for the Java plugin that I believe should be there.
Since I've hit a brick wall for the moment, I thought I'd toss it back to the SO community and see if you guys might make the last leap and find the solution.
Just for anyone who wants to alter this themselves it is possible on a unix machine to use grep to locate the file i.e.
grep -lr "some part of the current sample code" /path/to/netbeans
I used this method to locate the ruby example filename and from that identified that it is kept in org-netbeans-modules-ruby.jar as a file called RubyExample. By simply altering that file I was able to construct a better sample file for my own use.

The document which is displayed (for each mime type) is specified in a particular folder in the "system file system" (which is a NetBeans concept which is a virtual file system composed from contributions from individual modules; this is how functionality is dynamically registered in NetBeans).
Modules typically specify their system file system contributions in a file named "layer.xml" in the plugin. The create plugin templates typically offer to create this for you.
For example, here's how the Python example is registered:

Here, PythonExample.py is a sample file in the same directory as the layer file.
Therefore, what you need to do is create a plugin which overrides the existing registration(s) for the mime type(s) you care about and provide alternate sample documents. You may need to hide the existing registration first (see the _hidden
part from http://doc.javanb.com/netbeans-api-javadoc-5-0-0/org-openide-filesystems/org/openide/filesystems/MultiFileSystem.html ).
Hopefully this guides you in the right direction.
However, in thinking about it, we probably ought to make the preview area editable - so people can cut & paste whatever codefragment they care about right in there. This wouldn't be persistent, so whenever you change languages you get the original samples back - but it provides a quick way to see your own code. This shouldn't be just for the Fonts & Colors customization, but for the Formatting preview panels as well.

I think you can only accomplish that with a new plugin, since you need somekind of parsing to define what is what.
