As long as such message is thrown by postgres and its just a message when exceeds 64 bytes. Is there any way to not see such communicate in the output window for postgres notification as follows:

I was inputting data into postgresql table using python sqlalchemy function.
Currently, about 27 billion data have been entered, but the following error has occurred since then.
sqlalchemy.exc.OperationalError: (psycopg2.errors.ProgramLimitExceeded) cannot extend file "base/16427/1340370" beyond 4294967295 blocks
Can you tell me how to fix the error and why?
My question might look similar to some earlier posts but none of the solution has answered what is the rootcause of this behavior.
I would try to explain what I have done so far:
I am connecting to a PostgresDB (running in our company's aws environment) via my Power BI desktop client. The connection set up was pretty easy and I am able to see all the tables in the DB.
For 2 of my table which are extremely big in size, I am trying to load the data I am getting below error message -
Data Load Error- OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] PostgreSQL: Exception while reading from stream.
I tried changing the Command TimeOut Parameter in the initial M
query-- Didn't help
I tried writing native query with select * and
where clause (used parameter)-- It worked
Question:
When the Power BI starts loading the data without any parameter, it does start extracting some thousands of record but get interrupted and throws the mentioned error. Is it a limit from the database server side which is getting hit or is it a limitation of power BI?
What can I change in my Database server side, if I don't want to pull information using parameters (as at the end I need all the data for my reports)
I have a large PostgreSQL table - 2.8 millions rows; 2345 MB in size; 49 columns, mainly short VARCHAR fields, but with a large json field.
It's running on an Ubuntu 12.04 VM with 4GB RAM.
When I try doing a SELECT * against this table, my psql connection is terminated. Looking in the error logs, I just get:

Why is this happening? Is there a maximum amount of data that can be transferred or something - and is that configurable in postgres?
Having one large, wide table is dictated by the system we're using (I know it's not an ideal DB structure). Can postgres handle tables of this size, or will we keep having problems?

Those messages in the server log just mean that the client went away unexpectedly. In this case, it probably died with an out of memory error.
By default psql loads the entire results into memory before displaying anything. That way it can best decide how to format the data. You can change that behavior by setting FETCH_COUNT
I have seen a similar issue, however, the issue I faced was not on the client side, but most probably on the postgres driver side. The query was required to fetch a lot of rows, and as a result, there could have been temporary memory spike requirement on postgres driver. As a result, the cursor that I was using to fetch the records closed, and I got the exactly same logs.
I would really love if someone validated if this is possible, one thing I am sure is that there was not any issue on the client side.
I have a postgreSQL Server with some databases. Every user can only connect to certain databases.
So far so good. I wanted to test if everthing worked, so i used pgAdmin III to log in with a restricted user. when i try to connect to a database the user has no connection rights to, something seems to happen to the logfile!
it can't be read by the server-status window anymore. All i get are a lot of messages about invalid Byte-sequences for encoding utf8.
The only way of stopping those messages windows is to kill the programm and force postgre to create a new logfile.
can anyone explain to me why that happens and how i can stop it???
OK, I think the problem is the "ü" in "für". The error message seems to be complaining about a character code 0xfc which in latin1 (and similar) is lower case u with umlaut.
Messages sent back via a database connection should be translated to the client encoding. However, the log-file contains output from a variety of sources and according to this there were issues fairly recently (2012):
It's a known issue, I'm afraid. The PostgreSQL postmaster logs in the
system locale, and the PostgreSQL backends log in whatever encoding
their database is in. They all write to the same log file, producing a
log file full of mixed encoding data that'll choke many text editors.
So - I'm guessing your system locale is 8859-1 (or -15 perhaps) whereas pg-admin is expecting UTF-8. Short-term, you could set the system encoding to UTF-8, longer term drop a bug report over to the pgadmin team - one error message is helpful, after that it should probably just put hexcodes in the text or some such.

The query in question first pulls out some rows from a databased on the linked server (matching strings in the server I'm querying from), stores them in a table, then uses this table to pull out more matching records from the linked server. This is what I get on the second part.
The basic question is, is there something else hiding in this error message? Which tempdb is it, my tempdb, or the linked server's tempdb? I don't think mine can be a problem, as increasing the size doesn't help, the recover mode is simple, autogrowth is on, etc.
You first need to check your SQL Server's tempDB.... is the drive that TempDB and its log got lots of free disc space? It might be on two different drives. I would expect such an error to write a message in the SQL Server error log - have you checked there as well at the time of the problem? You then need to do the same on the remote server, if you have access.
Whether it's tempDB or a user/application database, just because the recovery model is simple doesn't mean that the transaction log won't grow - and take all the disk space! It does make it less likely, but long transactions can cause it to "blow".
