I'm making an online ordering web app in Flutter, there's a link to the app on the restaurant website. The app needs to know which restaurant website the customer came from so that it can load the correct menu.
How would you do this? Webhook?
I see two methods:
Referrer, Webbrowsers send a referrer-header. Maybe unstable for privacy browsers. More information

What I want to achieve here is similar to what most apps do, specifically like Youtube. If I share a video on youtube the user gets a link to the video. When the link is clicked the user is automatically taken to the video in the Youtube app (if the user has the app). I want that sort of functionality. My app has different stores on it and information about the store. I want the user to be able to "Share" a store via Whatsapp, sms etc so then when the receiver clicks on the shared link they are automatically taken to that specific store's page INSIDE my app. And if they do not have the app the link must take them to my app's page in the app store to allow them to download it. How do I achieve this in codename one. I looked at the share functionality in the developer doc and the How To section and that only shows me how to share text or images. Not a link to my app.
You can use the ShareButton or it's underlying native share API call (notice this behaves differently on devices as this relies on native functionality).
To share one URL that works on all platforms you need server side code as we have no way of knowing if the guy who will click the link has the same device as you have.

The correct answer to this question was actually URL intercepting. http://www.codenameone.com/blog/intercepting-urls-on-ios-android.html You share a url from your app to an external application. When the user opens that lick in an external application the user is automatically taken to your app if your app intercepts it.
I have like/share buttons on my website and am not currently using an appid. Finding information on whether this is a necessity for the above configuration is difficult to confirm. When going through the Facebook app "create" forms, I'm really confused by a lot of the requirements as it seems to be more focused around actual apps rather than websites, which login via fb etc.
In the past I have created an app for one of my other websites and I don't believe there was any verification/submission process at this point (about 2-3 years ago). Reviewing my old app configuration now I can see that it is not "live" - does anyone know whether Facebook implemented this submission process in the last couple of years, and then de-activated any live apps that were created prior to this?
I now want to setup a new app for my new website and I'm unsure what the different 'action types' mean and what I would need to simply use like/share buttons on the website. Could someone give me a quick run down of what I'd need and what they are?
Any other info/tips people can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm finding that the like/share DO still work without the app, but sometimes the share button doesn't work properly (I have a feeling this is something to do with the app).

If you are just using the Social Plugins, you don't need to have a Facebook App ID.
If you want more integration, it will be required. Creating an App ID is like registering your App, wether an iOS or Android App or just a website, so that you can make Graph API calls for it.
The easiest way to register your website is to go the quickstart: https://developers.facebook.com/quickstarts/?platform=web (or https://developers.facebook.com/apps). There you can type a name and follow the steps.
You can then follow the "Sharing best practices" (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#tags) on how to use the App ID. For example, by including an fb:app_id meta tag on your pages.
There is a review process, since last April, but that is only needed if you use permissions for your App. If you just use the plugins, that is not needed.
Can you explain more what is exactly not working?

The time you create a page the Facebook crawler does not know yet what the Opengraph data for that one is. This will happen after the first share, but if you want to ensure it is correct from the first share on, you can force a re-scrape.

So I am planning to develop an IFRAME facebook app which lets users buy tickets from Facebook using our website.
Basically I would like to know whether its possible to do what I have in mind.
Each event posted in our website has a specific link associated with it and we already provide a facility whereby event organizers can integrate our app into their website using an IFRAME.
Now I would like to know whether it is possible to have the same concept applied on a Facebook App. Each event will have its own EventId and I do not wish to have all events listed on our App. Each promoter that has his own Facebook page will be able to integrated the APP and will only see his events. Is this possible since you need to bind your Facebook to a specific URL?

Yes! This is possible. What you'll need to do is have a tab application that the promoter installs on their page. Each promoter installs the exact same application so you only need to have one.
When the app is loaded within the page, it will receive a signed_request parameter. You'll need to decode it first, but once you do, you'll be able to see where the app is running because the signed_request will contain the page_id. Once you know what page is displaying your application, you'll be able to display appropriate content.
I am working on a web app that use Facebook login. The purpose of the app is to get information about fan pages that the user has in his account (for which he got admin privileges). I work mostly with the insights informations but this is not the issue. and I don't understand the part about adding the app to the page. It is required that the app to be installed for example in one of the tabs? If so, is there a way not to do that and still receive the informations that I want? Also when I try to create a Realtime Update Subscriptions for the page object no "posts" field was available, then how to get realtime updates about it? I am a little confuse and any guidance and advise is more than welcomed.
P.S. I am using PHP SDK, if this helps with something.

I would like to launch Apple's Stocks app to show information for a particular stock, on a non-jailbroken phone. I'm not interesting in how to get a quote or graph a stock myself, just opening Stocks.app.
I was hoping that the Stocks app would have a custom URL format, so opening a URL like stocks://AAPL would do the trick. But I haven't found anything documenting such a scheme, and suspect it doesn't exist.
Any other ideas, or is it impossible to integrate with the native Stocks app?
It doesn't exist, Apple publishes a list of iPhone URL schemes - Mail, phone, text, Maps, YouTube, and iTunes.
Maybe you could just pull the stock info yourself? There must be some kind of web service you can use.
Unfortunately this is not possible as Apple pulls its stock information from Yahoo! Finance. Maybe you can try opening a UIWebView/Safari and direct to the Yahoo! Finance as the next best thing?
