AutoHotKey doesn't start program out of Visual Studio Code + AutoHotkey Extension - visual-studio-code

I want to make a script with Visual Studio Code and AHK that starts a certain program (automatically connect to a VPN ==> FortiClient).
If I double click directly on the script only containing that specific ahk run command in Windows Explorer, the client starts as desired. From Visual Studio code nothing happens.
I tried:
run, %programfiles%\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiClient.exe
==> Works with double click from Windows explorer. Running from VS Code: nothing.
run, C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiClient.exe
==> Works with double click from Windows explorer. Running from VS Code: nothing.
I made a link to the exe an put that to a folder without a blank character in the directory name:
run, C:\Software_Checkout\AHK\FortiClient_Verknuepfung.lnk
==> Works with double click from Windows explorer. Running from VS Code: nothing.
What can be the reason for this?

I am unable to reproduce, so I'll give a dumb suggestion. Complete shot in the dark, but make sure you're not starting VS Code from under WSL. I've made that mistake in the past, the head scratches were plentiful. Other than that, I don't know what could be the issue. Maybe a faulty debugger?
Example script that works for me from VS Code, with several debuggers:
ProgramFilesX86 := A_ProgramFiles . (A_PtrSize=8 ? " (x86)" : "")
run %ProgramFilesX86%\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe

VS_Code : Shell Integration Failed To Activate

When i hover on my vscode terminal name: (in terminal's upper right corner named "Powershell")
it shows : shell intergartion failed to activate,
how to solve this error, while
I tried installing vs code again but still no change, and also installed powershell 7
There are a few potential solutions for this issue.
Make sure that you have the latest version of VS Code and the Shell Integrate extension installed.
Check that the integrated terminal in VS Code is set to the shell you want to use (e.g. PowerShell, Command Prompt, Bash).
Try running VS Code as an administrator.
If you are using Windows, try adding the path of the shell you want to use (e.g. C:\Windows\System32\bash.exe) to the "terminal.integrated.shell.windows" setting in your VS Code settings.
You can also try reinstalling vscode and the extension.
If none of the above solutions work, you can try searching for specific error messages in the output panel of vscode or in the output of the terminal.

VS Code Terminal command extra first letter

In vs code terminal I'm getting first letter of command twice. it's not causing any problem but it's kind of annoys me to watch the wrong command. I'm not writing any letter twice, the first letter of all commands gets repeated automatically.
as you can see there are 2 commands first one ppython first p automatically got repeated even though i wrote python it makes it ppython. and the first p that got repeated won't delete from there even if i spam backspace so many time . the I tried to clear the command till first p and as I'm not able to remove first p from terminal I just wrote ython in front of it. it looks proper now python. but I got a error response as ython is not recognized command. this same happens with other commands too like cd converts to ccd.
Edit : I Re-installed vs code then but that didn't resolved my problem, when I installed it again all my extensions were there already installed then I deleted vs code again then went to the vs code's location there was a folder name .vscode I deleted that then installed vs code again now all the extensions were deleted from vs code but I'm still having the main problem . that doesn't resolved it. and I'm not getting that error while using other terminals like git bash and I'm getting this error only when I open python file's folder not when I open a react app folder or normal js or other language.
I also tried reseting the default setting from setting.json file as one of the answers suggested but that doesn't worked.
It's hard to answer this without knowing your configuration. What plugins have you installed? Try disabling those related to the terminal emulator one by one to see if they're causing any issues.
In doing this, you would naturally restart the terminal emulator as well. If the problem persists, check if you get this erroneous doubling on a terminal emulator outside of VS Code (Terminal or PowerShell).
If nothing works, try reinstalling the interpreter and also VS Code. Especially the latter, if this seems to affect only the terminal emulator within VS Code.
It's really hard to answer your question without knowing your vs code configuration setting.
The easiest way is you can reset your vs code to default
The Steps
Go to View > Command Palette or press Cmd + Shift + P (macOS) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows).
Search for open settings json and select Preferences: Open Settings (JSON) which show ups from the result list.
If you’ve been working with VS Code for a while and installed a lot of things and made a lot of changes, you’ll find there’s a lot of stuff in this file:
Delete everything inside the root braces and save the file
Relaunch your VS Code.
(This step is optional) In case you want to not only reset VS Code but also remove all installed extensions:
Delete the ~/.vscode/extensions folder if you’re on a Mac.
Delete the %USERPROFILE%.vscode\extensions folder if you’re using Windows.

VS Code opened via VS Developer Command Prompt not recognizing 'cl'

As the title says, VS Code is not recognizing cl compiler although opened via Visual Studio 2022 Developer Command Prompt:
VS Code terminal:
I have tried using VS Code external terminal with %comspec% /k "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Community\Common7\Tools\VsDevCmd.bat"
which did not work.
Setting the comspec manualy in the terminal did solve the issue for the terminal instance:
But the C++ extension is still complaining about cl.exe:
cl.exe build and debug is only usable when VS Code is run from the Developer Command Prompt for VS.
I have never used VS Code for C++ before and I don't use windows for development at all so go easy on me.
What could be the reason for the issue and how it can be solved?
Visual Studio Developer Command Prompt must be elevated(run as Administrator) in order to correctly open VS Code with the needed permissions.
Running Visual Studio Developer Command Prompt as Admin solves the issue.
One solution that worked for me is to go directly in the setting for C++ extension and find compiler path setting, and manually set it to cl.exe path on your computer.

Error when launching Terminal in Visual Studio Code (terminated with exit code: 3221225477)

I'm a new user of Visual Studio Code and I came across the following error (see below) when trying to launch a Terminal inside VS Code.
The terminal process "C:\WINDOWS\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe" terminated with exit code: 3221225477.
I've tried fixing this by following the instructions on [Visual Studio Code Troubleshoot Terminal] (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/supporting/troubleshoot-terminal-launch) and also going through the Get Started documentation on the Visual Studio Code website.
I've also tried copying the error message and pasting on Google to search for a solution but only one relevant site came up here and I still could not find a fix.
I'm using a Dell XPS machine running Windows 10 (x64) and Visual Studio Code 1.51.0 (x64 UserSetup).
Can someone please assist? Thanks in advance!
Try the following:
If your computer is running powershell, turn it off.
Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on of off
Search Window Powershell 2.0 -> Uncheckbox -> OK
Restart

F8 or "Run Selection" not working in VS Code while trying to run powershell commands in terminal

I am using VS Code and i have my powershell terminal in VS Code as well as Powershell ISE. I have my own personal script file in the form of .ps1 which has some list of commands. When i select a command in the file and right click and choose "Run Selection" , that doesn't get reflected in the Powershell Terminal in VS code. I even tried Function + F8 key of the laptop, still the same. Any idea what do i need to do to fix this.
I had the same issue, F8 stopped running selected script suddenly. Had to reinstall the PowerShell extension for VScode and it fixed it.
Check key bindings as well by hitting Ctrl+K, Ctrl+S and search "Run Selection". This should be a sub function of the PowerShell extension.
I ran into a similar problem and I came into the solution. Just install the powershell extension for VS code and you'll see the Run Selection/F8 work.
