I am new to MongoDB and trying to install V5 on CentOS 7 Server. I am using the official documentation to install MongoDB from here:https://www.mongodb.com/docs/v5.0/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-red-hat/
When I try to run the MongoDB, I run the following command (as per the spec):
sudo systemctl start mongod
unfortunately, this does not succeed and I get the follow error:
Job for mongod.service failed because a fatal signal was delivered to the control process. See "systemctl status mongod.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
The command
systemctl status mongod.service
reveals the following:
mongod.service - MongoDB Database Server

And, that's where I am completely stuck from last 3 days.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed MongoDB on the Ruspberry pi desktop on a VM, then I started it with the following command:
sudo service mongod start
The result of this command is the following:
systemctl list-unit-files --state enabled
mongodb.service enabled
Then when I check the status using
sudo service mongod status
The other issue is that there´s no .sock file in my /tmp folder.
PS: I removed MongoDB and reinstalled it trying to fix the issue but I always get the same problem.
Can anyone help me please?
Thank you in advance.
I get the following error:

i dont know why this happening. its working normal before.
but now i cant start mongod service.
after research on google and i cant run /usr/bin/mongod --quiet --config /etc/mongod.conf by manual.
then i decide to create the .service file to run the command on background.
here's file that i write
[Unit]
Description=High-performance, schema-free document-oriented database
After=network.target
[Service]
User=mongodb
ExecStart=/usr/bin/mongod --quiet --config /etc/mongod.conf
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
i save it on /etc/systemd/system/mongod.service
but when i run systemctl start mongod its show me nothing output.
and i check the status with systemctl status mongod
and give me failed messages. here's detail message:

how i can fix it?
or maybe is there any way to manipulated this code /usr/bin/mongod --quiet --config /etc/mongod.conf to run on background?
I have Replica set running with command "Sudo service mongod start" , i killed all mongod process using "kill" command after that i run replicaSet with (mongod -f /etc/mongod.conf), Now if i tries to run same replicaSet with "sudo service mongod start" after killing them again gives me error.
Output:
sudo service mongod start

I'm running ec2 instance of os Ubuntu 16.04.
I recently tried to upgrade my mongodb from 3.2 to 3.6.
And I tried to run sudo service mongod start and mongod service failed to start.
Below is the error message.

And I never edited a single line of default mongod.service file.
How can I fix this issue?
If you have just copied mongod.service file from somewhere you should edit User in [Service] section
Changing ownership of "/var/lib/mongodb" directory worked for me
Command to change ownership:
"sudo chown -R mongodb:mongodb /var/lib/mongodb"
**Old response:**
$ sudo systemctl status mongodb

/usr/bin/mongod - No such process. ---> This error means you have placed the mongod binary in someother path instead of the default one. Try changing the path in mongod.service file and reattempt it using service start mongodb
For me it was solved by commenting "User" and "Group" directives in the service file as described here.
I hope it helps somebody.
I just installed mongodb by following the instructions at here.
When I try to start mongodb using command
sudo systemctl status mongodb
it goes to next command line and after that i run the command
sudo systemctl status mongodb

Please help me to resolve this. I have tried many things like giving permission to log and lib fies. But nothing work for me.
Thanks in advance :)
