I would like to integrate some features provided by facebook Official Event API however we have failed to create an Event to a Page and it seems that creating Events is not possible with the API.
I would like to confirm whether the above task is feasible by using the facebook API ?
If it is feasible, does anyone could provide us any sample program as reference. Thank you very much.
Reference:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/event/
(v15 do not allow to create Event)
Reference:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/pages/official-events/getting-started
(refer to document it states that API v2.8 should able to create event with API, but it seems not working)

I have successfully added Facebook login functionality to my Ionic 3 application following the Ionic docs and I can receive needed user profile data from Graph API.
Now I can't figure out how to add the check-in option.
Facebook Graph API docs say check-in is now only possible by POSTING the data with the user that has 'publish_actions' rights.
So something like this should work:
this.facebook.api("me/feed?place=123123123123", ["publish_actions"])
(where place is the Place ID of the page I want to check-in)
But it does not work because the api method only creates GET requests and there is no way to set the request method to POST
Also the cordova's Facebook plugin also doesn't seem like it supports posting to Graph API.
I can't find any examples of Ionic check-in code examples or any way of doing this.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I have all the data needed to make this Graph API request - User Id, required permissions and place Id.
Please ask if additional info is required.
I have gotten the access token with the correct permissions to manage events etc. However, the following:
https://graph.facebook.com/{pageID}/events?access_token=xxxx&name%3Dtest%26description%3Dtest%2520description
(I have not included the credentials here)
Upon testing the above does not create a name value or description for the event - the page just returns a blank data object.
Is it possible to create some test data for an event through the browser address bar and if so what is the correct syntax?
As per Facebook's documentation in: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v2.0/event#publish
Publishing
You cannot create events via the Graph API.
Use Facebook SDK instead: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/javascript/reference/FB.api
I spent a long time battling this too.
TL;DR - graph v1.0 allows event creation, graph v2.0 does not.
Facebook Graph API 1.0 "events" allows you to create events (all CRUD actions) and is fully described in the docs. Graph version 2.0 does not allow you to CRUD event data. This is where the other answer came from.
Graph version 1.0 will be depricated April 30, 2015 (official changelog).
I need to create an event on Facebook directly from my website.
I downloaded facebook SDK v4, I created the connection to my facebook application, now how can I create the event?
I tried several guides but refer to the older versions of the SDK.
now in Graph API -> reference -> event is written:
Publishing
You can not create events via the Graph API.
Can you help me?
The message should be clear enough, it is not possible to create events with the Graph API: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v2.3/event#publish
This change happened with v2.0 of the API: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/changelog#v2_0_permissions
The old Facebook Legacy REST API had a function dashboard.publishActivity, however the new Graph API only allows messages to be posted on /me/feed.
Is there a way to send activities using the Graph API?
As mentioned in http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/552/ Facebook "have removed the section which displayed the News that developers published via the Dashboard APIs in the Games Dashboard". Therefore the dashboard.publishActivity function no longer provides any useful functionality. My recommendation is to switch to either using stream posts or to Requests 2.0, as these will provide the same sort of distribution that you're looking for.
I am developing a Facebook application that will use Facebook events.
I want to be able to create and edit event as well as invite users friends to the event.
I prefer to use the new Graph API to handle all connections with Facebook and I many ways I am able too, but, the Graph API cannot send invites.
I saw that the Old Rest API got far more ways to interact with Facebook so I tried to use both systems on the same time but when I send the Access token that I have created with the Graph API a long with a call to the old API it says "Invalid OAuth 2.0 Access Token".
My question is, is there a way to convert the new Graph API access token to be used with the old rest API? Is there perhaps another way to get both systems to work in the same application?
Please help! All input are welcome.
I´d recommend against the old REST api. Support will be canceled sooner or later and then you will have to port to graph api anyway.
To send invites to your app you can use fbml/xfbml. try the http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fbml/multi-friend-selector togehter with the JavaScript SDK as described here: http://www.takwing.idv.hk/tech/fb_dev/jssdk/learning_jssdk_11.html
good luck!
