basically it is what the title says. i'm using the latest version of eclipse, on fedora. whenever i try to set a breakpoint it prompts me with:
Add bookmark : [insert code]
ive searched for solutions on the web

usually, in windows(recently switched) i would double click lets say next to line 34, for example, and it would add a breakpoint. now it prompts me to add a bookmark

I've just started using Vscode and have a created a WebAPI project. On trying to open any of the default code files (Startup.cs and Program.cs) whatever I type starts to appear in the blue bar as shown below instead of where I have placed the cursor. I have no idea what's going on or what that blue bar is.
I am able to add my own code files and edit these as I would expect.
I'm running Vscode 1.29.1 on Win 10 on a Dell Latitude 12 7275. The vscode extension

That's caused by Vim extension. Uninstall or disable it, otherwise use insert key on your keyboard to put it in insert mode.

Basically, if I split files in tabs in VS Code, I could work with the files on the left hand side but could "read-only" all the files on the right hand side.
When I went to the extensions tabs I noticed that whatever I typed was being typed in the field in the extensions search bar. After deleting that, and clicking back on the "Files" tab, it went back to normal and can basically edit files on the both sides of my split screen.
If cannot type
Check where whatever you type is going (e.g. Extensions > Search bar)
Delete wherever it's being typed, and click back on the "Files tab"
Check if it works
I had to change the parent folders permission...

I used to see the line and column (character count) in the status bar of Eclipse (actually Precision32's version of Eclipse), but somehow it went away. According to the Eclipse UI guidelines it's supposed to be there:
Editors with source lines of text should show the current line and
optionally column numbers the status line. It's optional for the
editor to show line numbers for each line in the editor itself.
But I can't find anything that tells how to turn it on. I didn't update my editor, AFAIK.

I have no idea what happened, but it started working again. Might be when I installed Juno eclipse, maybe some register settings in common were touched? I hate doing a re-install to fix a problem as you lose settings and it isn't getting to the root cause, but for this round I'll have to accept it.
When renaming a variable using Eclipse, I always get a popup dialog showing me a preview of the refactoring. Is there some way I can disable this popup dialog? In other words, I want to place the cursor over a variable name, press alt+shift+r, edit the variable name, press enter, and have the renaming take place without ever seeing the preview. Is there some preference or setting for this?
I"m using Eclipse 3.6 (Helios)
UPDATE:
To test this, I did the following. I created a new Java Project and added the following class to the package.

}
This is the only code in the project and still when I try to rename var I get a preview dialog in which I have to click "OK" to make the change. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the default behavior in Eclipse, but I must have edited the defaults somehow. I just don't know what I did or how to reset the preview behavior of the refactor.
There is a preference under "Java" for this called "Rename in editor without dialog". If this is not selected, the rename dialog will show up every time.
I'm also using Helios, a dialog only appears when you are potentially creating a name conflict or refactoring code that has compile errors.
I am developing using the PyDev plugin in Eclipse. My program uses several classes in several files. I usually run the program using the green "play" icon or using Control+F11. The only problem is that it will run the file, which is currently in "focus". Usually this is not the one containing the starting point of my application. As I run my program something like 200 times a day, this means that I need 200 extra click on the mouse and often forget about this.
Is there any way of setting the default file to launch?
Yes, change the launching to rerun the last launched, so Ctrl+F11 will launch the last one -- and use F9 to launch the one with focus -- See instructions and details at: http://pydev.org/manual_101_run.html
For me, the shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+F9. I don't think I've changed any keybindings, so its strange that it would be different from the official documentation.
Go to Run->Run History, and select the run that is your 'main' run. Now you should be able to use Ctrl-Shift+F9 from any other file to rerun your main. If it isn't Ctrl+Shift+F9 for you, look on the console window that should be at the bottom of your screen showing the stdout after every run. There is an icon on the top of it that has the green start arrow with a yellow arrow underneath it pointing to the right. That is the command to relaunch with the same configuration. If you hover over that, it should tell you the keyboard shortcut you need.
I'm using the standard Visual Studio deployment project and want to remove the text in the banner (the text that says "Welcome to the Your Project Setup Wizard".
I want to remove it because I want a custom banner and don't want the text written over the banner.
I can't see any properties in VS to allow this. Can it be done without prodding around in the .MSI?

You can "remove" the text by removing the Welcome dialog and replacing it with a custom dialog. In VS 2005 -
Right click on the Setup project in the solution explorer
Select View - User Interface
Under the Start group for Install and Administrative Install delete "Welcome"
Then you can add a "Textboxes (A)" dialog (right click the "Start" group and select Add Dialog) to the project, set the visible property for the text boxes to false. Move the Textboxes (A) up to the top of the "Start" sequence.
The properties for this dialog include:
BannerBitmap
BannerText
BodyText
This should allow you to control the look / feel (to a certain extent) of this new "Welcome" page.
I'd just like to add to this that sometimes creating a custom dialog is a pain in the rear and that you can follow the advice at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winformssetup/thread/5af7ff28-3dbb-4a8a-8d62-a09af9e32b29 to use a tool called InstEdit (http://www.instedit.com -- there is a free version) to edit the outputted installer and remove the BannerText
I don't believe there is an easy way (e.g. changing a property). I had the same problem recently. I couldn't find anything. Ended up using Orca to "prod around in the .msi". It seems the only thing you can alter easily is the language it's displayed in.
