Unable to start mongob-community after Monterey 12.6.2 update - mongodb

Question

I have been running mongodb-community 6.0.1 via homebrew just fine on Mac Monterey for a while, and then ran the recent Monterey update to 12.6.2, which included an XCode Tools update. This made me nervous, and sure enough, I now can't get mongodb to start. When I try to start it
brew services start mongodb/brew/mongodb-community
I get the following error
Bootstrap failed: 5: Input/output error
Try re-running the command as root for richer errors.
Error: Failure while executing; `/bin/launchctl bootstrap gui/501 /Users/steve/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.mongodb-community.plist` exited with 5.

This guy ran across the same issue, but running
mongod --repair --dbpath /usr/local/var/mongodb --storageEngine wiredTiger
did not make a difference. I don't need to worry about losing data, so I uninstalled it and re-installed via homebrew, and still get the same error.
As noted in other similar posts, I checked permissions on the various files, and my user has ownership, not root.
Do I need to install an older version of the formula? I was running fine on 6.0.1 prior to the Monterey update, so I doubt that would help/
