Future Builder not rendering data table - flutter

in want create table from api response.i created data table using future builder. The future builder fires api twice not not return any data
class HomeScreen extends StatefulWidget {
const HomeScreen({super.key});
#override
State<HomeScreen> createState() => _HomeScreenState();
}
class _HomeScreenState extends State<HomeScreen> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: FutureBuilder(
future: unpaid(),
builder: (context, snapshot) {
if (snapshot.hasData) {
return Container(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(5),
child:
Dataclass(datalist: snapshot.data as List<UnpaidDetails>));
} else {
return Container(
// padding: const EdgeInsets.all(5),
// child: Dataclass(
// datalist: snapshot.data as List<UnpaidDetails>)
);
}
},
),
);
}
Future<String?> getToken() async {
final SharedPreferences prefs = await SharedPreferences.getInstance();
return prefs.getString('token');
}
Future<List<UnpaidDetails>> unpaid() async {
String? token = await getToken();
final response = await http.get(
Uri.parse('https://test.url/api/unpaid'),
headers: {
'Content-Type': 'application/json',
'Accept': 'application/json',
'Authorization': 'Bearer $token',
});
if (response.statusCode == 200) {
var result = jsonDecode(response.body);
List jsonResponse = result["UnpaidDetails"] as List;
return jsonResponse.map((e) => UnpaidDetails.fromJson(e)).toList();
} else {
throw Exception('Failed to update album.');
}
}
}
class Dataclass extends StatefulWidget {
Dataclass({Key? key, required List<UnpaidDetails> this.datalist})
: super(key: key);
List<UnpaidDetails> datalist;
#override
DataclassState createState() {
return DataclassState();
}
}
class DataclassState extends State<Dataclass> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context)
return SingleChildScrollView(
scrollDirection: Axis.vertical,
child: FittedBox(
child: DataTable(
sortColumnIndex: 1,
showCheckboxColumn: false,
border: TableBorder.all(width: 1.0),
columns: const [
DataColumn(
label: Text(
"Period",
style: TextStyle(fontSize: 25, fontWeight: FontWeight.bold),
)),
DataColumn(
label: Text(
"Amount",
style: TextStyle(fontSize: 25, fontWeight: FontWeight.bold),
)),
],
rows: widget.datalist
.map((data) => DataRow(cells: [
DataCell(
Text(data.month,
style: const TextStyle(
fontSize: 26, fontWeight: FontWeight.w500)),
),
DataCell(
Text(data.price.toString(),
style: const TextStyle(
fontSize: 26, fontWeight: FontWeight.w500)),
),
]))
.toList(),
))); }}
1 api call twice
api call fires twice the first one bring response. second one is send request without header and receive error. i am using jsontodart.in to create class. Help me execute future builder in clean way

For the non data problem :
Remove your getter :
get datalist => null;
declare a datalist variable in your Datatable class:
class Dataclass extends StatefulWidget {
Dataclass({Key? key, required List<UnpaidDetails> this.datalist})
: super(key: key);
List<UnpaidDetails> datalist;
And read it from your state with
rows: widget.datalist
instead of
rows: datalist
And for your second call. You don't have to make a call in initstate. So you can delete your initstate method and change your future builder like this :
body: FutureBuilder(
future: unpaid(),

How to refresh screen to update elements list?

I have a big Flutter project which is using my Woocommerce website as backend. Everything is working fine, but it was missing the search function on this recipes screen. I'm completly new to Flutter, but because I have Java experience with some luck and miracle I was able to create this function [the search] using the list view and call the dedicated endpoint if I enter the search term. This is working (hooray), but the problem is, that the list of elements are not refreshing if I call the search. It stays on the "all" view, only if I pull down the screen and make a refresh, only than I will see the search results... I tried with the suggested "key" for the widgets, but because I'm not really familiar with Flutter most likely I use is wrong or not on the right element... What is the best way to make this work? Can I call the refresh function somehow (I tried to find it, but failed) after calling the search or is it possible to force the widget re-draw in this case?
Thank you very much.

Solution
#VORiAND is using the Library Provider.
The value watched in the Consumer is a List of Objects.
To 'force' the re-draw of the view, he had to either
Set his list of Objects to null, notify the listeners, update his list, notify the listeners.
_list = null;
notifyListeners();
_list = await fetchDatasFromService();
notifyListeners();
or
Re-create a new List Object and notify the Listeners
final datasFromService = await fetchDatasFromService();
_list = List.from(datasFromService);
notifyListeners();
Original Answer:
There are multiple ways to refresh a view after some data manipulation.
Without any State Management library :
If you're developing in 'vanilla' : you'll have to execute your data operations and then 'force' a refresh of the UI once it's done.
The method to use in order to refresh the UI is setState((){});
Note : For this to work, you HAVE to be in a StatefulWidget
Here is a fully working example :
class _MyHomePageState extends State<MyHomePage> {
int _counter = 0;
#override
void initState() {
super.initState();
//Triggering my async loading of datas
calculateCounter().then((updatedCounter){
//The `then` is Triggered once the Future completes without errors
//And here I can update my var _counter.
//The setState method forces a rebuild of the Widget tree
//Which will update the view with the new value of `_counter`
setState((){
_counter = updatedCounter;
});
});
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text(widget.title),
),
body: Center(
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
const Text(
'Current counter value:',
),
Text(
'$_counter',
style: Theme.of(context).textTheme.headline4,
),
],
),
),
);
}
Future<int> calculateCounter() async {
//Demo purpose : it'll emulate a query toward a Server for example
await Future.delayed(const Duration(seconds: 3));
return _counter + 1;
}
}
Important note : Consider triggering your async requests in the initState or in your afterFirstLayout methods.
If you trigger it in the build method you'll end up with unwanted loops.
The above solution will work as long as you want to update the Widget which triggered the request.
If you want to update the ListRecipeScreen widget after some data manipulation in your CustomSearchDelegate, you'll have to call the setState method IN the ListRecipeScreen.
To trigger this setState in the parent Widget, you could use a Callback method.
In the following example, MyHomePage would be your ListRecipeScreen and OtherWidget would be your CustomSearchDelegate
class MyHomePage extends StatefulWidget {
const MyHomePage({Key? key, required this.title}) : super(key: key);
final String title;
#override
State<MyHomePage> createState() => _MyHomePageState();
}
class _MyHomePageState extends State<MyHomePage> {
int _counter = 0;
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text(widget.title),
),
body: Center(
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
const Text(
'Current counter value:',
),
Text(
'$_counter',
style: Theme.of(context).textTheme.headline4,
),
OtherWidget(callback: (counterValue) {
//This callback can be called any time by the OtherWidget widget
//Once it's trigger, the method I'm writing in will be triggered.
//Since I want to update my Widget MyHomePage, I call setState here.
setState(() {
_counter = counterValue;
});
})
],
),
),
);
}
}
class OtherWidget extends StatefulWidget {
const OtherWidget({required this.callback, Key? key}) : super(key: key);
final Function(int counter) callback;
#override
State<OtherWidget> createState() => _OtherWidgetState();
}
class _OtherWidgetState extends State<OtherWidget> {
#override
void initState() {
super.initState();
//Triggering my async loading of datas
calculateCounter().then((updatedCounter) {
//The `then` is Triggered once the Future completes without errors
//And here I can trigger the Callback Method.
//You can call here the Callback method passed as parameter,
//Which will trigger the method written in the parent widget
widget.callback(updatedCounter);
});
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Container();
}
Future<int> calculateCounter() async {
//Demo purpose : it'll emulate a query toward a Server for example
await Future.delayed(const Duration(seconds: 3));
return 12;
}
}
Note: It looks like your delegate is updating a value stored as a Global variable.
In this case, you don't even need to create a Callback method with a parameter (like I did in the OtherWidget : you could simply use a Function without any params, or a VoidCallback
With a State Management Library
As you can see with my answer above, it's not that hard to refresh a view after some data manipulations.
But what if you have to refresh a Widget which isn't a direct parent of the Widget manipulating the datas ?
You could use a cascade of Callbacks (don't do that please) or an InheritedWidget, but those two solutions will get harder to maintain as your project grows.
For this reason, there are a lot of State Management libraries which were developed.
The following example showcases how it'd work with the Library Provider :
I create a Controller for my page which will manipulate my datas.
This controller extends ChangeNotifier so I can notify when the manipulation is done.
class HomePageController extends ChangeNotifier {
// I exported your global var in this Controller
String _searchTerms = '';
String get searchTerms => _searchTerms;
Future<void> calculateCounter() async {
//Demo purpose : it'll emulate a query toward a Server for example
await Future.delayed(const Duration(seconds: 3));
//Updating the class variable
_searchTerms = 'New value entered by the user';
//Method provided by the ChangeNotifier extension
//It'll notify all the Consumers that a value has been changed
notifyListeners();
}
}
Injection of the Controller in the Widgets Tree and Consuming of the value it holds.
class MyHomePage extends StatefulWidget {
const MyHomePage({Key? key, required this.title}) : super(key: key);
final String title;
#override
State<MyHomePage> createState() => _MyHomePageState();
}
class _MyHomePageState extends State<MyHomePage> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text(widget.title),
),
//Injecting our HomePageController in the tree, and listening to it's changes
body: ChangeNotifierProvider<HomePageController>(
create: (_) => HomePageController(),
builder: (context, _) {
return Center(
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
const Text(
'Current counter value:',
),
//The Consumer listens to every changes in the HomePageController
//It means that every time the notifyListeners() is called
//In the HomePageController, the cildren of the Consumer
//Will check if they have to be re-drawn
Consumer<HomePageController>(
builder: ((_, controller, __) {
return Text(
controller.searchTerms,
style: Theme.of(context).textTheme.headline4,
);
}),
),
const OtherWidget()
],
),
);
},
),
);
}
}
In the child widget, I retrieve a reference to my HomePageController and trigger the async request.
Once the data manipulation is done, the notifyListeners() method will trigger every Consumer<HomePageController>
class OtherWidget extends StatefulWidget {
const OtherWidget({Key? key}) : super(key: key);
#override
State<OtherWidget> createState() => _OtherWidgetState();
}
class _OtherWidgetState extends State<OtherWidget> {
#override
void initState() {
super.initState();
//Getting the instance of the HomePageController defined in the parent widget
final parentController = Provider.of<HomePageController>(context, listen: false);
//Triggering the data manipulation
parentController.calculateCounter();
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Container();
}
}
The code above is specific to the Provider lib, but the logic is similar in every State Management library :)
To make the widget "redraw", you need to call the setState() method like this:
setState(() {
// Here you can fix widget vars values;
});
For that you just need to call setState((){}), this will notify the framework that the internal state of the object has changed and will redraw the widget.
Documentation SetState
So your listing inside any dialog box because haven't run anything but i guess i know the answer please let me know are your doing in any dialog or in main screen.
So if you are showing into the any dialog then i have added a code for example like you need to statefulbuilder which is comes with it's own setState for inner rebuilt the inner UI
int i = 0;
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return SafeArea(
child: Scaffold(
body: Center(
child: GestureDetector(
onTap: () {
showDialog(
context: context,
builder: (c) {
return StatefulBuilder(builder: (context, setStateInner) {
return Dialog(
backgroundColor: Colors.transparent,
elevation: 0,
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
setStateInner(() {
++i;
print("$i");
});
},
child: Center(
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
Container(
//width: 100,
color: Theme.of(context)
.dialogBackgroundColor,
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(15),
child: Column(
children: <Widget>[Text("$i")]))
],
),
)));
});
});
},
child: Text("Tap me"),
),
),
),
);
}

Duplicate GlobalKey detected in tree widget scaffoldState

second time a key is seen, the previous instance is moved to the new
location. The key was:
[LabeledGlobalKey #47c37] This was determined by noticing that after the widget with the above global key was moved out
of its previous parent, that previous parent never updated during this
frame, meaning that it either did not update at all or updated before
the widget was moved, in either case implying that it still thinks
that it should have a child with that global key.
And when I tried going back to the Previous screen it just showed Blank Screen

Flutter Sending variable with api data to another class

I have an app which gets data from the backend. I used a FutureBuilder and for the most classes when i try to pass the variable that im getting data, it's successfully being send to the other classes and i use the variable. But in another case i try to pass the variable to the other class and it's failing saying that null is being returned from the api.
return Scaffold(
body: FutureBuilder<Response>(
future: futureDataForStatus,
builder: (context, snapshot) {
if (snapshot.hasData) {
WorkingLocationStatus accountInfo = WorkingLocationStatus.fromJson(
json.decode(snapshot.data!.body),
);
sendAccountInfo(){
return IsUserWorking(accountStatus: accountInfo.status,);
}
-------------
class IsUserWorking extends StatelessWidget {

Key? key,
this.accountStatus,
}) : super(key: key);

#override

if (accountStatus == 'NOT_WORKING') {
return const WorkingScreen();
}
return const StopWorkingScreen();
}
}
------
// what the api returns
when the user is not working api returns this
{"status":"NOT_WORKING"}
but if the user is working it returns this

Value is retrieved only after hot reload in flutter from API

I'm kinda new to flutter, I've been building app using rest API as the backend, whenever I try to load data to display on home page screen from GET API I'm not able to fetch the value until I reload or refresh the widget on the app after pushandreplacement from login screen. Please help me!!! already a week, I still stuck at that bugs.
My code:
class HomePage extends StatefulWidget{
final String name;
HomePage(this.name);
#override
_HomePageState createState() => _HomePageState();
}
class _HomePageState extends State<HomePage>{
String token;
void iniState() {
super.initState();
GetRequest().getUserName(token);
}
Widget build(BuildContext context){
return Scaffold(
body: Container(
alignment: Alignment.topCenter,
child: SafeArea(
child: bodyPage(context),
),
),
);
}
}
Widget bodyPage(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: SafeArea(
child: SingleChildScrollView(
child: Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.symmetric(horizontal: 20.0),
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
children: <Widget>[
SizedBox(height: 15),
_appBar(context),
],
),
),
),
),
);
}
_appBar(context) {
String myName = mData.fullname;
return Row(
children: <Widget>[
CircleAvatar(
backgroundImage: NetworkImage(
"https://jshopping.in/images/detailed/591/ibboll-Fashion-Mens-Optical-Glasses-Frames-Classic-Square-Wrap-Frame-Luxury-Brand-Men-Clear-Eyeglasses-Frame.jpg"),
),
SizedBox(width: 15),
Text("Hello, ",
style: TextStyle(
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
fontSize: 18,
),
),
Text(
myName ?? 'KOOMPI',
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 18,
fontWeight: FontWeight.w600,
color: Colors.blueAccent)),
],
);
}
EDIT
getUserName code:
class GetRequest{
String messageAlert;
Future<void> getUserName(String _token) async {
var response = await http.get("${ApiService.url}/dashboard",
headers: <String, String>{
"accept": "application/json",
"authorization": "Bearer " + _token,
//"token": _token,
});
var responseBody = json.decode(response.body);
mData = ModelUserData.fromJson(responseBody);
}
}
Here is mData:
class ModelUserData{
String fullname;
ModelUserData({
this.fullname
});
ModelUserData.fromJson(Map<String,dynamic> parseJson){
fullname = parseJson['full_name'];
}
}
var mData = ModelUserData();
Firstly, there's a typo and no #override tag to your initState. It should be like that :
#override
void initState() {
super.initState();
Then, you don't show where mData comes from. The business logic code is generally essential to give. So that would be GetRequest().
Anyway, the simplest way would be to make getUserName like this :
Future<String> getUserName(String token) async {
// do your thing
return userName;
}
With that, you can await getUserName and rebuild when it comes back. So like that in the initState (like token, make a userName State variable) :
() async {
userName = await GetRequest().getUserName(token);
setState((){}); // this triggers the widget to rebuild
}();
Now, the widget rebuilds when the request resolves, and you can directly use the userName variable in your UI code.
However, as your app grows, this will quickly become tedious. To make it cleaner, learn state management.
I changed your method getUserName to return data instead of assigning mData inside it
class GetRequest{
String messageAlert;
Future<ModelUserData> getUserName(String _token) async {
var response = await http.get("${ApiService.url}/dashboard",
headers: <String, String>{
"accept": "application/json",
"authorization": "Bearer " + _token,
//"token": _token,
});
var responseBody = json.decode(response.body);
return ModelUserData.fromJson(responseBody);
}
}
Then on initState you should do
#override
void initState() {
GetRequest().getUserName(token).then((model) => {
setState(() => mData = model);
})
super.initState();
}
The important thing here is to cal setState when model arrives

I am able to retrieve the data from the server and print it on the console. Still, the data is not displaying. I do not know where I did the mistake.
So I have completely updated the answer and there are many things that you don't follow according to the global standard.
So I have listed some of the key things that you should follow :
Following is you company list json :
[
{
"column_name": "ABC"
},
{
"column_name": "XYZ"
}
]
Following is the get user json that you will get :
{"username":"1111","Name":"ABC" }
And Later the model class I have create accordingly to the json that you provided and then you can create your own based in the added json.
There are Two model classes that I have created :
First model class is for the company :
// To parse this JSON data, do
//
// final youModel = youModelFromJson(jsonString);
import 'dart:convert';
List<YouModel> youModelFromJson(String str) => List<YouModel>.from(json.decode(str).map((x) => YouModel.fromJson(x)));
String youModelToJson(List<YouModel> data) => json.encode(List<dynamic>.from(data.map((x) => x.toJson())));
class YouModel {
String columnName;
YouModel({
this.columnName,
});
factory YouModel.fromJson(Map<String, dynamic> json) => YouModel(
columnName: json["column_name"],
);
Map<String, dynamic> toJson() => {
"column_name": columnName,
};
}
second mode class is for the user :
// To parse this JSON data, do
//
// final userModel = userModelFromJson(jsonString);
import 'dart:convert';
UserModel userModelFromJson(String str) => UserModel.fromJson(json.decode(str));
String userModelToJson(UserModel data) => json.encode(data.toJson());
class UserModel {
String username;
String name;
UserModel({
this.username,
this.name,
});
factory UserModel.fromJson(Map<String, dynamic> json) => UserModel(
username: json["username"],
name: json["Name"],
);
Map<String, dynamic> toJson() => {
"username": username,
"Name": name,
};
}
Below is the main ui file just Check the comments that I have made so that it will be helpful for you .

// I have just shown you but example is according to you code .
// this above loadFromAssets is that you hit the api and you get the json string response

And below is the sample Gif file for you :
As stated by #pskink the method _getcompanylist() is async. An async function runs asynchronously, which means that the rest of the program doesn't wait for it to complete. You can use a future builder to deal whit that or you can simply wait for it by using the await function. I believe that for your code snippet future builder is the better choice.
