I got an Enterprise Architect document which has its diagrams locked, see screenshot below from clicking in the diagram background using the context menu:
The Lock Diagram option is active and cannot be selected. (How) can I unlock the diagram?
Seems that user security is activated. See https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/modeling/lockdiagram.html and references therein for further information.
The dirty way to disable security is by running a SQL
DELETE FROM t_secpolicies
This will clear the entry where Property = "UserSecurity". Now it's a plain model. Either you can run a script from within EA (if that was not blocked) using repository.Execute("<the SQL>") or doing so from an outside client (EAP is M$Access, others could be opened using Toad or similar clients).
The legal way is to enter a security key in the Enable Security (no typo, this is EA!) menu to disable it.
The problem was that the Enterprise Architect project was opened directly from an email.
Due to this, and the file probably got (file based) locked by Outlook, Enterprise Architect locked the diagrams.
Solution: save the file in Outlook (or whatever mail application) to another file location and open the Enterprise Architect from there.
A better solution would be that Enterprise Architect would show a decent warning message that the file is opened in some kind of readonly state.

We recently upgraded to the latest version of Tableau and are encountering a serious problem. No-one in the tableau community has answered the question and even our paid Tableau support is not responding to us!
We are embedding a viz in our site and then allowing users to click on the "Edit" button which opens up a web-edit version of the workbook. We have special permissions setup that allows them to even save their changes. This has all been working fine.
As of the most recent upgrades where Tableau introduced this idea of a Personal Space we now get a 401 when trying to save in the Web Edit (now labelled "Publish as")
Clicking "Publish As" loads a modal which is meant to display a list of locations to save to but instead displays a spinner which never goes away. The console indicates an error specifically wit the new personal space - 401 - No authentication credentials were provided.
We are using trusted ticket authentication to display our embedded vizzes and have had no problems with web edit saving until now. If we log directly into Tableau the web edit saves perfectly. So it seems to be an issue of Web Edit Saving + Trusted authentication, specifically as it relates to personal spaces.
Seems clear to me that this is a Tableau bug but wondering if anyone can suggest any kind of fix or workaround.
Thank you
This has been confirmed by Tableau as a bug in their latest versions. Unclear when it will be fixed.
They provided us with the following workaround (which is not ideal from a security perspective) but works.
Workaround provided by Tableau. Configuration change required, setting unrestricted tickets to true.
https://kb.tableau.com/articles/issue/login-prompt-when-embedding-server
This is a temporary measure while Tableau develops a more permanent solution.

I work on a web Application which runs only on IE11. Currently, we use ActiveX control to open Documents (MS word) with in the web application. so far, everything works perfect with ActiveX control however Microsoft will stop supporting ActiveX control on IE11 in few months.
We want to upgrade this Web Application to make it run on EDGE. as ActiveX control is no longer an option, Is there a way/any different control equivalent to ActiveX, which I can leverage on to add it as an addOn in the browser, so the users can open/edit word documents.
Thanks in advance.
Note: When i Say Editing it's basic editing like font size and insert a table at the most.
You said Microsoft will stop supporting ActiveX control on IE11 in few months.
We don't have any news that Microsoft will stop supporting Activex control on IE 11. Maybe you have some misunderstanding. IE will continue to support ActiveX but it will block the outdated Activex control. So if your ActiveX control is outdated then you need to update it with the latest version to continue to make it work with IE 11 browser.
See this information:
Because many ActiveX controls aren’t automatically updated, they can
become outdated as new versions are released. It’s very important that
you keep your ActiveX controls up-to-date because malicious software
(or malware) can target security flaws in outdated controls, damaging
your computer by collecting info from it, installing unwanted
software, or by letting someone else control it remotely. To help
avoid this situation, Internet Explorer includes a new security
feature, called out-of-date ActiveX control blocking. Out-of-date
ActiveX control blocking lets you:
Know when IE prevents a webpage from loading common, but outdated ActiveX controls.
Interact with other parts of the webpage that aren’t affected by the outdated control.
Update the outdated control, so that it’s up-to-date and safer to use.

If you want to move to the MS Edge browser then I suggest you check the Office browser extension.
The Office browser extension is a free extension for Edge and Chrome, that gives you easy access to your Office apps and documents anywhere on the web. You can quickly access and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office documents right from your Edge or Chrome browsers, without having to open your desktop apps.
I have an MSDN subscription and I've installed Visio 2013. I am not able to activate the product and it has reduced to a read-only state.
Any attempts to activate or "Switch Account" are met with "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues." I've found a few posts referencing removing an office-related key from the registry but this has not helped.
At one point I believe I'd also heard that our network might be blocking activation, but don't have a handle on how that would be coming into play exactly (if at all).
Have others encountered and (hopefully) found a fix to this issue?
Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Microsoft Visio Professional 2013
Right click on Microsoft Visio Professional 2013 and click on "Change"
Then select "Enter a Product Key" and supply your 25 digit licence key to activate.
Here is a little more detail on the Control Panel/Programs and Features method for entering product codes.
This worked with Office 2010 previously installed and then a later Visio 2013 Pro installation that didn't provide the activation dialog.
In Programs and Features
Right click Microsoft Visio Professional 2013
You'll see Uninstall (default) and Change. Select Change
You'll get a dialog with these options
Add or Remove Features
Repair
Remove
Enter a Product Key (voila!)
Select Product Key and the rest goes as expected.
Footnote: I spend 45 minutes in six conversations with four different Microsoft support teams trying to fix this. None knew how to address the issue.
I had the same problem. To activate I had to go to "Control Panel\Programs and Features\Microsoft Visio Professional 2013" and choose the "repair" option; you will be asked to insert your product key. Now my Visio is activated and I can create new diagrams, but I continue having problems using online options.
If your system is an offline computer, you will need to call the MS Support Center and give them your code which shows on your screen. Then in return enter the long string of digits they give you back.
I want to ask my co-workers Alice and Bob specific questions about particular lines in code, e.g. com.example.HelloWorld.java:l.435. It would be nice if I could take some links out of eclipse, mail them in text form to another developer (also using eclipse) and go over to the co-worker and talk about those lines (without manually going to com.example.HelloWorld.java:l.435), but have some clickable link instead.
I know the bookmarks feature of eclipse, but I don't see a how to insert bookmarks.
Edit: I think I'm going to create a plug-in to make bookmarks create a fake exception stacktrace, which can be inserted into stack trace console. Has the benefit that the receiver can use it without installing something. [added code-review tag]
There is no way built-in to do that kind of thing, but it's an interesting idea for a plugin. Have you tried searching in the Eclipse Marketplace (available from the Help menu) to see if there's anything close?
An alternative that might meet your productivity need (thought not your specific feature request), is real-time shared editing via the DocShare feature of ECF. If your entire team were to set this up, you could use it to do a shared editing session with teammates.
In DreamWeaver CS4 When I go to Site -> New Site... and go through
the various screens I get to a screen named
Site Definition -> Sharing Files
which asks me:
Do you want to enable checking in and checking out files,
to ensure that you and your co-workers cannot edit the
same file at the same time?
If I opt for Yes, it asks me for my name and email address,
AND NOTHING ELSE it seems.
What I would like to know is, what Version Control System (VCS)
is employed to implement the options on this screen? Is it DW's
propriety VCS system, or some other. I know CS4 supports Perforce,
but have no idea if this screen was to configure Perforce options
then why is this not mentioned? Which other VCS systems does DW CS4
support besides P4 (CVS, SVN, GIT, Mercurial (Hg), etc..)?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge,
John Goche
For the screen that you're talking about, the basic checkin/checkout functionality is not a version control system, it is an attempt to prevent multiple people from editing the same file at the same time. It merely adds a .lck file to the server for the file you checked out. If someone else with Dreamweaver tries to open the file (assuming they also have checkin/checkout turned on) they won't be able to edit the file (well, they can edit anyway and override the lock if they want to). The name and email address are only used to present that info to others editing the site, they can see who has a what file checked out. I think that you can also search through the site to see all files checked out by a specific person (Files panel option menu {top right of the panel) -> Site -> Show Checked out by.
See page 88 of this PDF for info on checkin/checkout, and page 91 for Subversion info: http://help.adobe.com/archive/en_US/dreamweaver/cs4/dreamweaver_cs4_help.pdf
And additional help for SVN and Dreamweaver here:

Edit: There is also an extension for using GIT: https://github.com/ChrisMcKee/gitweaver
You can of course use any version control you want on a site, if you use an external version control client. I've done this for years, and it works quite well, as you don't have to rely on an individual editing application to support version control.
Perforce is supported via the P4GT plugin: http://www.perforce.com/product/components/perforce_plugin_graphical_tools
