I've installed Motioneye on a Raspberry Pi Zero and connected a camera. I can get it to detect motion, and take an image in response to detected motion. Unfortunately, images are being saved to the target directory as root, rather than user. I'm hoping for suggestions to have motion save them to as user.

I have another script that is running as user, so it can not manipulate these files. I know I could have that script run as root, but that seems like a generally bad idea.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got the following problem:
I need two cameras on my Raspberry Pi, so i bought a Waveshare IO-Base-A and a CM4 2GB. When trying to use two cameras with this setup, none of them work. Only one camera does work.
The official way on the Waveshare Wiki (https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/CM4-IO-BASE-A#CSI_DSI) doesn't work either, so i really don't know know what to do...
I do know that this isn't a problem that only occurs on my system, and it doesn't look like an Hardware-problem as well, since switching cameras etc didn't work for me as well. Editing the config.txt (on PiOS and Ubuntu Server) ends up with having 0 cameras that work. Only start_x=1 allows one camera to work.

I cannot use the official Pi camera(s) using either the official Raspberry Pi "Buster" disk image or the Pi disk image provided by Gumstix:

Note: The Gumstix Pi image would "hang" on the rainbow colored splash screen during boot, using the image above. I am using the "fast flash" board to write the images, and have been able to repeatedly (successfully) install the standard Raspbian OS. FYI I have been using Balena Etcher, and it has worked with my other boards.
Also, I followed the official instructions to add camera support in an attempt to understand what I am doing wrong. vcgencmd initially reported no support or detection in raspbian. I was able to add camera support using the blobs mentioned here (I compliled manually and also used the precompiled variant):

Final result:
vcgencmd get_camera : supported=1 detected=0
Lastly, yes the camera is enabled, and I have tested the cam/cable on other systems with no issues. I suspect the pin GPIO settings may be to blame, but based on the information in front of me (for this board) I should not be expecting to manually adjust those params. Thanks for any insight….hopefully this is an I-D-10-T error.
First off I should appologize, the page you referenced about getting the disk image is very out of date. We will work to update it soon.
My guess of why it's not booting is likely a hardware imcompatibilty, are you using a Raspberry Pi CM3+?

That's a recently compiled Buster image that has some extra drivers added in to support Geppetto modules. The default Buster image should also work.
To properly support any of our boards, it's best to download the board support package for that particular design. In your case, you're using the Gumstix Pi Compute Dev Board, which can be found

Please go to that page and click on the "AutoBSP" button on the top. That will prompt you to download a zip file that will contain some instructions and files needed to configure the Raspberry Pi.

I am trying to build a small system which include a rPi and rPi Zero. rPi act as local wifi hotspot and rPi zero connect to rPi hotspot.Then I access zero camera through rPi. My diagram looks like this.
It works totally fine if I have a LAN connection. Once I remove the lan connection motionEyeOs won't stream any data. And even it disconnect from wifi and go to boot loop.
So my question, is there any way we can make motionEyeOs works with out actual internet ?.
The answer to your question: You can set link_watch="false" in /data/etc/watch.conf
But this come with a few other problems:
If your camera boots without network connection (internet), it has no time set (your videos and images could get overwritten)
If your camera boots without or looses network connection (internet), the camera does not try to reconnect and you have no other chance and have to connect a keyboard an monitor to it
A hardware clock would help for the first problem but I am still searching for a solution for the second. If you already have one, I would appreciate it, if you could help me out.

This is what I use for an offline video recorder and it only needs the software and a power source..Camera also but you get the idea. Keep your image (os) small as possible as this can fill an sd card fast. If I remember right, I used 800 x 600 and it would use a gig an hour.
I'm trying to get to work a raspberry pi 0 W and a pervasive display eink screen together.
But, every time when the screen refresh, it reboots the pi 0. Software works great on a RPi3 but not on Rpi0w with Raspbian Lite.

There is no log in /var/log/messages, neither in /var/log/syslog. Every time it reboots, it's erasing history, logs ...
If this was a software issue, you would probably see something in the logs (or you'd at least see a kernel panic message on the console in the HDMI output if you have a screen connected there).
If you have nothing in the HDMI screen when the pi crashes, I'd suspect that the display is using more power than your power supply can provide. Try with a PSU with a higher ampere rating.
If a better power supply does not help, it can be that the display sucks too much 3.3v from the raspberry pi than the zero can provide. In that case you should try feeding the display via a separate 3.3v regulator.
So various people around my house have been stealing my mouse and I was wondering if I could store a program on the mouse which runs whenever it's plugged in, asking you for a password. I know you can run a program stored on a computer when a device is inserted into a USB slot but that means I can't stop people using my mouse if the specific laptop he's using hasn't got the program installed.
Also, if this was possible, what language would use? I would like it to work on windows, linux and OSX to cover all bases.
