I spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to get LunarEclipse to work with Eclipse 3.4.1 and DLTK 1.0
I looked at some bug reports at their sourceforge project page and they said that their 1.2.9 version was supposed to work with DLTK1.0. Problem being they hadn't actually released the 1.2.9 yet. You could get it at their SVN repository though.
I downloaded their svn repository. To my dismay I could not for the life of me remove all errors from the project. It kept saying it couldn't resolve org.eclipse.core.runtime.IProgressMonitor even though I added the org.eclipse.core.runtime external .jar file.
I guess the 1.2.9 isn't quite finished yet. So I wondered if anyone had some tips on what to do. Maybe I should just get an older version of eclipse and DLTK.
I have checked out LuaEclipse, but that didn't work either.
Summary:
Have anyone gotten LunarEclipse to work with eclipse 3.4.1?
Can you recommend any other Lua IDE or plugin for eclipse?
Beta release of LuaEclipse 1.3.0 does work for me and it is quite stable (except for the debugger plugin).

I am beside myself with this error and can't make any progress until I get past this issue.
I have the latest STS (Spring Tool Source) 3.7.1 specifically for Eclipse Mars 4.5.1. I deleted all my old versions of STS, and deleted my old .eclipse file as well since I wanted this to be a fresh install. I also went into my c:\Users\Tom Holmes\AppData folders and removed all traces of 'Spring Tool Suite'.
I installed the new latest STS 3.7.1 for Eclipse (Mars) 4.5.1 and pulled down the latest Subclipse for the Eclipse (Mars) 4.5.1. I opened to my old work space which was fine before, and now whenever I try to use STS to run a maven build I get the error listed below.
Error: Could not find or load main class Holmes.sts-3.7.1.RELEASE.configuration.org.eclipse.osgi.25.0..cp.;.C:.Users.Tom
I have tried everything I can think of to re-loading the projects into a new workspace, to deleting the projects and re-downloading them.
Ultimately I find in the workspace .metadata plugins directory under m2e.eclipse.core there are no lifecycle mappings? Does that matter?
How can I re-create this, or is this more of a maven/sts problem?
So, here is what I found ... Since STS 3.7.1, specifically for Eclipse (Mars) 4.5.1 was the issue ... I tried several other versions of STS.
I tried STS 3.7.0 for Eclipse (Mars) 4.5.1 which does work. When I installed this, I immediately got notified that there was an update ready. The update was specifically for the m2e Maven-Eclipse Integration.
I also tried 3.7.0 for Eclipse (Juno?) 4.2.2 which also does work, and again this was looking for an update, and again was for m2e Maven-Eclipse Integration.
My feeling is that, specifically STS 3.7.1 for Eclipse (Mars) 4.5.1 was broken as far as the m2e plugin. Since the m2e changes are embedded in this latest version, something must not have been right. The other versions that I downloaded and installed all worked fine. For any of these versions, there was this upgrade for the m2e (Maven-Eclipse) integration plugin ... but in this case, the update worked.
You know, I like STS, I think it works great. After updating several times, like anything else, it can get "jinky" and then I decide that maybe I should just download a new fresh copy of the tool which usually works great.
Clearly pulling this update into the latest version just didn't mesh well. But now I am up and running, and hopefully SpringSource will fix this issue.
I really hope this helps someone else out.
I would recommend installing a regular Eclipse distribution and then installing STS as a plugin. There should be plenty of instructions online that explain how to do it. I've been using this approach for years and never had any problems.
I am not an Eclipse/RAP developer, but over a year ago I was tasked with getting a particular application to run. The development environment was Eclipse/RAP using Java. The application was already almost done -- I just needed to make a few changes to get it to work the way we wanted it to work. I made the changes, stuck it into the Jboss app, and it worked. I saved away my source code.
Since then they upgraded my PC, so I no longer have access to my old development environment. We need to move the RAP application to another server, and for some reason it has quit working. Either I don't understand why it ever worked or I don't understand why it doesn't work -- it's all a bit baffling.
So now I'm trying to get this thing working again.
The basic problem I haven't been able to resolve is dependencies. Eclipse reports that the following three bundles can't be found:
org.eclipse.rap.draw2d
org.eclipse.rap.zest.core
org.eclipse.rap.zest.layouts
All three should be in the GEF package.
I have tried installing Eclipse Indigo. When I do that, Eclipse can't find GEF to install it, even though it's given the same URL as I give to Kepler. I've installed Eclipse Kepler. I can install GEF, but while Eclipse reports a valid install, and reports that it is installed, I'm still seeing the same missing dependencies.
Any ideas? It's baffled an Eclipse developer here, but then we don't really use RAP except for this one application.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Sean.
This is a dependency-related issue, and has nothing to do with RAP. Nevertheless, be careful that the notion of GEF has changed a bit. GEF4 includes: GEF, Zest, Draw2D. Rather than installing the whole thing, I suggest you download your dependencies (i.e. go to GIT and pull the GEF4 project), and then include those projects (or build them as JARs) and include them to be available at runtime, and of course as dependencies.
This is a bit of a repost but the solutions proposed in the posts I found previously did not work for me, so I thought I might just as well start a new discusion.
I have a new Eclipse Indigo and I want to install the GWT-Plugin. I am running java Runtime Environment build 1.7.0.01 on a Windows OS (64 bit). The Eclipse is also the 64 bit version. I execute eclipse as administrator (but the same problem pops up if I don't).
Eclipse is told to juse java 1.6 as a compiler (since I hear there are issues with 1.7 and GWT).
So I click Help>>Install New Software and put in http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.7 as a source. This then takes forever (Fetching Children of GWT) resulting in:
"Unable to read repository at http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.7/content.jar.
Unable to read repository at http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.7/content.jar.
Read timed out" as an error.
I have tried this all day. Once I at least could read the repository but could not install because of some unsatisfied dependencies. But that was on another eclipse distribution if I remember correctly.
So generally I don't seem to have any luck with GWT.
I would be greatfull for any advice to get GWT running. thanks.
Edit googled further, found a blog entry that told me to update to java 1.7.0_04. did that. no change.
Edit2 On the assumtion, that it is in fact not my eclipse but the google servers, I used the download of the plugin (as sugested by kush in the comments). This gets me to this screen http://i.imgur.com/0qV1v.png but not that much closer to the solutiuon.
"Cannot complete the install because one ore more required items could not be found."
I have tried this with Indigo and Helios, the ruslts are similar.
This took a while (three days) but the answer is as easy as it is strange: Do not use the 64 bit version of eclipse.
I would apreciate if someone finds out what the problem with the 64 bit versions is, but as soon as I started using the 32 bit version (which works fine on the 64 bit windows) everything installed perfectly.
Anyway, hope to help somone else with this post.
I have been struggling with this issue for days now. I cannot get the GWT eclipse plugin installed on my laptop. I am using the 32 bit version of eclipse. Plus, I can install the plugin just fine on the 64bit version of Eclipse on my PC, so I know that is not the issue.
Finally! I solved this.
Had to completely uninstall JRE 7 then everything installed fine.
even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all?
I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers".
After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. I followed the steps described here: http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/jreality/mediawiki/index.php/Subclipse_installation_in_eclipse_galileo.
But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now. Finally after 3 hours of trying I am giving up. Does anyone have any hint what I am missing?
Thanks!
Peter
I had the same problem. I use Windows 7 64 bits OS. I clean read-only flag of eclipse folder in C:\Program Files (x86) and give full access right to all users on my PC. I reinstalled it from update site and it works.
This is a known bug with subclipse: http://subclipse.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=992
EDIT For anyone keeping track of this, it looks like Eclipse Helios SR1 may have fixed the issue. I haven't tested it myself yet, but by the sounds of the discussion at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=322929 it should now be working.
I just had this same issue with Ubuntu. It turned out to be permissions. Once I gave write permissions to everywhere in my eclipse installation and then reinstalled subclipse, its views and so forth appeared, just like magic.
I don't know what you are looking for. But after installing the Subclipse plugin, you should have a new entry in the File | New | Project dialog. Something along the lines of "Checkout project from SVN"
Then when you hit continue, you can enter your SVN repository details, check the branch you are interested in, etc. After checking out a project, you can right click on it and go to the "Team" submenu to get the features provided by Subclipse like check in code, diff, merge, etc.
I ran into the exact same problem too. I installed both Subclipse and GWT/GAE plugins and couldn't find any evidence of them after installation.
I'm on Windows 7 and had installed Eclipse 3.5 SR2 into C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5. I also put my workspace in C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace. When I was checking things I noticed there was a lock icon on the C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace.
I reinstalled Eclipse to C:\dev\eclipse and the workspace to C:\dev\eclipse\workspace. After that the installation of the plugins went without a hitch and I could see the SVN Repository Exploring perspective (no idea why some of the other posters claim this perspective doesn't exist). I suspect it was some sort of permissions problem on the directories.
Another way to check and see if the whole thing was installed correctly is to go to the SVN Repositories view. Go to Window -> Show View -> Other, and then search for SVN. If you see a bunch of SVN views like "Repositories," Subclipse is installed.
I had this problem due to some kind of incompatibility between Subclipse and Android ADT plugins. One answer suggested yoxos which gives you all your eclipse plugins from one central repository.
Had the same problem. I work on Linux, and when I installed eclipse in /usr/local/eclipse, Subclipse did not show up. The solution was to install Eclipse locally, e.g. in /home/user/eclipse. Now Subclipse (and other plugins too) worked!
Edit: guess it could be the same on Windows.
I think this is due to some incompatibilities between the packages of subclipse and the gwt 2.x plugin and android... as this started happen to me after I upgrade to v 2.0 of gwt back in the day.
The same issue repeats both on Mac and Windows... and it seems no fix has been released.
Now the only way I've found to move on with my work is to remove subclipse and install the latest subversive plugin instead.
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/
I know this ain't subclipse but it works very similar and no issues with gwt nor android plugins.
it worked for me and so I hope it works for you in the mean time.
cheers,
G.
Since adding the Blackberry Java classes from their website into eclipse, I've had it where eclipse will randomly close, with no discernible pattern, rhyme, error or reason. Here is the environment/software packages that I am using:
Windows XP SP2
Eclipse v3.5.1
Blackberry Java Plugin v1.1.1.200911111641-15
Blackberry Java SDK 4.5.0.21
I've tried the usual steps of complete uninstall and reinstallation of Eclipse and the accompanying plugins on multiple systems with the same configuration, including one that had a fresh install of Windows XP SP2. Upgrading to Eclipse 3.6 didn't work (the plugin wont' install as it's the wrong version), nor the downgrade to 3.4 for the same reason. I also increased the heap size to 512 (system has two gigs of memory) as some research into Eclipse doing this type of thing with Groovy was resolved that way, but again, no dice. Eclipse works great when the blackberry plugins are not installed, and no entries of errors or issues in the event log are helping to show what the issue with these plug-ins might be.
So if anyone has ran into this issue, and even better, has a solution, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: An additional to my issue, autoComplete with the Blackberry SDK seems to make this extremely unstable, like almost a guaranteed crash. Is this fixable at all?
For anyone that loads this question up trying to find a solution, I've never found a fix. It seems to be a bug with this version of the IDE. If there is a fix, please post.
Did you try to downgrade Eclipse to 3.4 (Ganymede)? I experienced similar issues when I tried upgrading Eclipse to something greater than 3.4.2.
I think the problem is with the plugin, not the IDE. Eclipse has always been stable for me until I installed the BB plugin. Since then it crashes all the time. Since I've installed the release (non-beta) version of the plugin that was recently released I can't even get my project to build.
This could be a manifestation of this bug in Eclipse. Check your C:\eclipse directory for files like hs_err_pidxxxx.log. The file goes on to explain this error:
#
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x753ba053, pid=3144, tid=5820
#
# JRE version: 6.0_20-b02
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (16.3-b01 mixed mode, sharing windows-x86 )
# Problematic frame:
# C [USP10.dll+0x1a053]
I've been experiencing this as well. It's completely debilitating. It causes Eclipse to just up and crash out of nowhere (and programming in a language as verbose as Java without Content-Assist is insane).
The bug has been fixed in Eclipse 3.6M7, but unfortunately I can't get the JDE Plug-in to install in the latest release candidate.
This is a known issue with Eclipse 3.5.X and has been fixed for 3.6.0

Looks like we are stuck with this until the next update to the BB Eclipse plugin.
