Relocating a ClickOnce deployment - deployment

Has anyone had any experience in relocating a ClickOnce deployment? I have deployed several applications via ClickOnce internal to my company, and now the drive hosting the apps has been moved to a different computer on a different network mapping.
What parts of the "config" do I need to change to reflect the move? Thanks!

You can do configure from this inside the VS2008 properties.
1. Go to Project Properties --> Publish --> Updates
2. Add the new location/server to the Update Location text.
3. Publish the project one last time to the Original Publish location.
4. Publish all future updates to the location in step 2.

Is there any way to move individual entity from one server to another in Master data services?

I have master data model with some entity and it is deployed on production server.
Now i have created 2 more new entity in development server and wanted to move only these two entity.
If anyone has any idea please share with me.

You have two options.
Web-app(easiest): On your Dev server, go to System Administration. Click on Deployment and create a package. You then deploy this package by going on the production server, follow the same steps, but choose deploy instead of create under the 'deployment' button.
The alternative is to use the MDSModelDeploy.exe. You can find it on the server by going to the appropriate folder. Generally it's in this path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Master Data Services\Configuration.
I recommend you use this method, as you have more control. You can choose to deploy with data, or without or clone your model. You can read more here ([https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/master-data-services/deploy-a-model-deployment-package-by-using-mdsmodeldeploy][1])
I can also recommend you consider the ModelPackageEditor when your model starts getting big. Then you have control over what you need to deploy, as in entities, views, business rules etc.
You need to have a deployment strategy in place, because if your development and production is not exactly the same, then you run into deployment errors. It normally happens when you create, for example business rules on the environment to which you are deploying and it is not on your dev environment. MDS uses copious amounts of id's and if the models are not in sync, then you run into problems.

Best way to deploy a Click Once application on a network

I am trying to install an Outlook 365 Add In that I have developed. I have published the application as a click once which can be installed by running the setup file.
I need the application to be installed on all company computers, so the best place to host the application would be the company network.
How can I deploy my application to all users and allow the application to automatically update every time there is a new version published?
I greatly appreciate any help with this issue. This is the first large application deployment that I have undertaken.
I can't advise on the specific mechanism for deploying an "installed" version of your solution - I imagine you can accomplish that with most application deployment systems. Otherwise users will have to run the setup.exe from your network deployment. When you do have an update you simply copy the new files to a new versioned folder and existing installations will detect the change of version number in the deployed manifest and auto-update. Building two different versions a given war with maven profiles and filtering from eclipse

I am trying to use maven profiles and filtering in order to produce two different versions of a given web archive (war):
A first one for local deployment to my local machine on localhost
A second one for remote deployment to cloudfoundry
There are a number of properties that differ according to whether the app is deployed to my local machine or to cloudfoundry.
Of course the difficult bit is that I am trying to do all this from STS/Eclipse and deploy from Eclipse to my local tomcat and to cloudfoundry...
Can anyone please provide advice, tips or suggestions?
If you are using Spring versioning 3.1+ the "profile" attribute for <beans> in the spring bean configuration xml would be the best choice. Take a look at the doc here: http://docs.cloudfoundry.com/frameworks/java/spring/spring.html#using-spring-profiles-to-conditionalize-cloud-foundry-configuration
Basically you need to specify at least 2 elements. One for your local properties (profile="default") and one for the properties when deployed to CF. The latter one should be defined as <beans profile="cloud">. When running locally the properties within "cloud" would be ignored and properties in "default" will take effect. When pushed to CF, CF will detect the profile named "cloud" and, which is better, inject corresponding datasource connection info of the services provisioned by CF itself. You can find the detailed CF-specified properties in that doc as well.

Consider having a single project per artifact generated. Hence one project generating your local deployment and one project generating your cloudfoundry deployment.
Overlays (http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-war-plugin/overlays.html) is the officially sanctioned way to bake in extra files in an existing WAR file, giving a new WAR artifact. Very useful but may be too slow for comfort while developing.

how can I set up a continuous deployment with TFSBuild for MVC app?

I have some questions around the best mechanism to deploy MVC web applications to different environments. Previously I used setup projects (.msi's) but as these have been discontinued in VS2012 I am looking to move to an alternative.
Let me explain my current setup. I currently have a CI setup using TFSBuild 2010 with Team Foundation Server for source control.
A number of developers work on their local machines and check in to the TFS Server. We regularly deploy to a single server dev environment and a load balanced qa environment with 2 servers. Our current process includes installing an msi which carries out some of the following custom actions:
brings current app offline with the app_offline.htm file
run in database scripts (from database project in the solution)
modifies web.config (different for each web server of qa)
labels the code
warmup each deployed file via http request
etc
This is the current process. Now I would like to make some changes. Firstly, I need alternative to msi's. From som research I believe that web deploy via IIS and using MsDeploy is the best alternative. I can use web config transforms for web config modifications. Is this correct and if so, could I get an outline of what I need to do?
Secondly I want to set up continuous delivery via TFSBuild, I have no idea how this may be achieved, would it be possible to get an outline of how it can be integrated in to my current setup? Rather than check in driven, I would like it to be user driven following check in. Also, would it be possible for this to also run in database scripts from a database project in the solution.
Finally, there is also a production environment, but I would like to manually deploy this - can my process also produce an artifact that I can manually install?
Vishal Joshi has some information on his blog that is reasonably good, http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2010/11/team-build-web-deployment-web-deploy-vs.html. It does have the downside that your deployment password is include in the properties you pass to msbuild.

Windows Azure with Multiple Sites in One Role not transforming 2nd web.debug.config to web.config

I am using Web.Config transformations to deploy my application to Azure. I also have 2 sites in my service, a public website, and private WCF site endpoint. I am deploying multiple sites to a single role.
When I deploy, the website project (for which the Azure Deploy project is set) transforms the web.config correctly. However, the WCF project (which is only addressed as a "site" in the .csdef file) does not transform the web.debug.config file to web.config.
This question is similar, but only addresses the projects building. I have set the dependencies in my project.
This workaround forces the transform of the web.config file, but it still does not appear in my deployment on Azure.
I suspect that this bug still exists, and I have also upgraded to the Azure 1.5 SDK in hopes that it will fix it.
I would like to try putting my configuration data in cscfg files but I am using Entity Framework Code First, and I do not know how to get my connection string to work with this format. EFCF seems to rely on web.config explicitly.
Any help would be appreciated.
When you add another web role, you provide a physicalPath to point to what you want deployed, and all the SDK does is copy the files it finds at that path into your package. It doesn't do a build.
You should probably be doing a build and a publish of the web app you want to deploy, and then point the physicalDirectory at the output of that publish step. (Make sure the directory you're setting in physicalDirectory contains exactly what you want to have deployed to the cloud.)
