How to implement copy paste of a resource in REST? - rest

How would you implement copy-paste support in a RESTful way?
Let's say I have book store resource. And books in every store
http://mydomain.com/rest/book-stores/1
http://mydomain.com/rest/book-stores/1/books/12
I need the client to be able to invoke copy paste of a book to another store.
Implementing the following:
PUT http://mydomain.com/rest/books/1/copy-paste
seems very RPC like. Do you have any suggestion how can this operation be modeled in a RESTful way?

Copy = GET http://mydomain.com/book/1
Paste = PUT http://mydomain.com/book/2 or POST http://mydomain.com/book

This is only a problem if your resources are organized to mimic a hierarchical system. Like a file system.
I prefer non-hierarchical resources. The "path" to a file would just be a property of the file. To copy-paste, there are two options.
If you really just want another "path" reference, add another entry for the "path" property. The same exact file is "in" both "folders".
If you need to new version of the file, effectively forking changes thereafter, create a new resource (different URI) with a different "path" property.
To move, just change the "path" property.
If you must insist on hierarchical, just mimic how a file system does copy-paste and move.
The copy is easy. A GET for the resource to copy.
To paste, a POST, because you are creating a new resource, a new URI.
If you need to do a move, you probably need to DELETE the old resource.
If you want, you can specify a location in the delete request, allowing the server to redirect users looking for the moved resource at its old location.

I would have it so that the user executes PUT command to execute the action.
So something like a variable in the form data is contains the correct action to perform.

Using PowerShell (5.1) to EDIT outlook PST path

I know how to add or remove a store with PowerShell using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook, but I haven't found any information about changing values.
I read https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/api/outlook.namespace#methods but I don't see a method available for setting properties.
Context: User's PST files have been moved from one path to another. I'm trying to avoid disruption wherever possible, so I'm writing a PS script to move the PST files, and then update Outlook with the new path.
Since removing and re-adding the stores will break user-defined stuff like rules, I'm hoping for a way to change existing store filepaths that will require no user action.
Is this possible at all?
As a second option, can I pull the existing rules, and modify them (or recreate them)?
PST store entry id embeds the PST path in it (you can see it in OutlookSpy - I am its author - click IMessage / IMAPIFolder / IMsgStore button, select PR_STORE_ENTRYID, click "..." next to the Value edit box).
If a rule includes a store id (e.g. copy / move message action), you would need to reset / recreate the rule.
I you don't want to remove / add a store, can reset the store location using ProfMan library (I am also its author) directly in the profile section in the registry. See https://www.dimastr.com/redemption/profman_examples.htm#example2 for an example on how to read PST paths. You can modify the script to set the path instead.

Is there a way to know filenames generated with MultiResourceItemWriter?

I'm writing a spring-batch application with spring-boot support and I'm looking for a way to know which files were generated by MultiResourceItemWriter. The first solution I have in mind is to have a folder for only the files generated and check the content, but if there is something already implemented on spring-batch would be great!
The intention is to encrypt and then upload each file to an sftp server.
The file names generated by the MultiResourceItemWriter are the combination of the resource name + the suffix created by the ResourceSuffixCreator. For example, if you create the writer like the following:
MultiResourceItemWriter<String> writer = new MultiResourceItemWriter<>();
writer.setResource(new FileSystemResource(new File("data.txt")));
writer.setResourceSuffixCreator(index -> "part" + index);
Then the generated files will be data.txt.part1, data.txt.part2, etc.
MultiResourceItemWriter doesn't perform write directly but delegate this job to other components.
All those components are ResourceAwareItemWriterItemStream implementors so you may write a ResourceAwareItemWriterItemStreamDelegate, intercept setResource() method and store resource into current step execution-context as a collection.
If you want to pass this list of resources to next steps you may use an ExecutionContextPromotionListener.

How to map urls?

I would like to map pages such domain/content/myProject/home.html to domain/home.html. /content/myProject/ is not needed. I have the following code:
String newpath = getResourceResolver().map(page.getPath());
this does not change anything. newpath is stay page.getPath()
how to solve this issue?
Answering as this question as it remains unanswered. Here is an example of how the etc mappings should look like:
Trick is you add 2 entries to sling:internalRedirect as / and /content/example/
AEM first tries to resolve resources with first entry '/'. So non page URLs like /etc/designs, /content/dam etc will be addressed by the first entry. If it is unable to resolve using the first one, it uses the second entry to resolve the page.
This is also the adobe recommended way for URL shortening compared to other techniques like apache redirect.
You need to create map in etc.Then Resource Resolver will take care of trimming the path .
CREATING MAPPING DEFINITIONS IN AEM
In a standard installation of AEM you can find the folder:
/etc/map/http
This is the structure used when defining mappings for the HTTP protocol. Other folders (sling:Folder) can be created under /etc/map for any other protocols that you want to map.
Configuring an Internal Redirect to /content
To create the mapping that prefixes any request to http://localhost:4503/ with /content:
Using CRXDE navigate to /etc/map/http.
Create a new node:
Type sling:Mapping
This node type is intended for such mappings, though its use is not mandatory.
Name localhost_any
Click Save All.
Add the following properties to this node:
Name sling:match
Type String
Value localhost.4503/
Name sling:internalRedirect
Type String
Value /content/
Click Save All.
This will handle a request such as:
localhost:4503/geometrixx/en/products.html
as if:
localhost:4503/content/geometrixx/en/products.html
had been requested.

How to exclude a directory in Stream mapping in p4v

I'm using the visual client for perforce and I want to exclude a directory from the workspace. Before streams, I would just navigate to my workspace, find the folder in the tree, and exclude it (and I've found this solution in a number of other related questions I've found). However, now that I am using a stream, it won't let me do this, i have to edit the stream mapping apparently.
So I tried to add this line to the remapped box when editing the stream:
-//NumberPlus/current/Library/... //nplus-mainline/current/Library/
However I just get an error:
Error in stream specification.
Error detected at line 24
Null directory (//) not allowed in '-//NumberPlus/current/Library/...'.
EDIT: I'm in Windows 8.1, for clarification.
If the folder you want to exclude is specific to your machine, setting P4IGNORE locally is the easiest way to exclude it from being added to the depot.
http://www.perforce.com/blog/120214/new-20121-p4ignore
You'd set P4IGNORE to some name like "p4ignore.txt", create a file with that name, and add "Libraries" to it -- subsequent "p4 add" commands will skip over paths found in the P4IGNORE file, so those files will never get added to the depot.
If this is something that's going to be common to all workspaces of this stream (e.g. it's a build artifact that everyone is going to generate and nobody is supposed to check in), what you want to do is add an "exclude" to the stream's Paths (this will exclude it from both branch views and client views generated by that stream). E.g.:
Paths:
share ...
exclude Libraries/...
The "exclude Libraries/..." is basically the same thing as the exclusion line you would add to the client view, except you specify it as a relative path, you don't need to specify both sides of the mapping, and the "-" is implied by the "exclude" type. The "remap" type is if you want to keep those files but in a different depot location, which doesn't sound applicable here.
More information on defining stream views:
http://www.perforce.com/perforce/doc.current/manuals/p4v/streams_views.html
You can't just edit the mappings for your client workspace if it is switched to a particular stream. The whole point of streams is that your workspace mapping is directly generated from the stream definition. So that's a feature.
It's not totally clear whether
you don't want the directory in the stream at all, or
it's valid to have the directory in the stream, but you don't want to sync it to your workstation, or
you want the directory sync'd to your workstation, but you want the directory to have different contents (say, from some other stream which has a different version of the library.
However, for all of these situations, I suspect the best path forward is to define a new child stream of your current stream.
You will want to define the path mappings using the "share", "exclude", "isolate", and "import" mapping types.
For example, if you just didn't want the Library/... directory at all, you'd "exclude" it from your parent.
Then that stream simply won't have that directory, and it (of course) won't be on your workstation when you sync to the stream, either.
If you wanted to have a different copy of the code in the Library/... directory, so that it became a point of intentional divergence from the parent, you'd "isolate" it from your parent to submit your own custom version, or "import" it from another stream to use that stream's Library/... directory instead.
In either case, the directory would be part of the stream, and would be sync'd to your workstation, but the contents of that directory would differ from the contents that are used in the parent stream (the exact way in which they'd differ is under your control, as you define the stream accordingly).
Documentation and some examples are here: http://www.perforce.com/perforce/doc.current/manuals/p4v/streams_views.html
and here:
http://www.perforce.com/sites/default/files/pdf/Streams-ebook.pdf
I believe I have solved this. To be clear, I wanted the folder to be completely ignored by version control. I'm using p4connect with Unity and it keeps wanting to include unnecessary stuff in my depot.
All I had to do was add this line to my parent stream in the Paths box:
exclude current/Library/...

LibXML: Comment-out a block of Elements

IS there a way to add/initate a comment ( e.g. $dom->createComment ... ) such that it comments out an entire block of xml tags. Basically I want to turn-off the content between the comment.
For example, it would look like this:
<TT>
<AA>keep</AA>
<!-- comment to blocking
<BB>hideme1</BB>
<CC>hideme2</CC>
-->
<DD>d's content is good</DD>
</TT>
Actually this question is a pre-cursor to my attempt to figure-out a method to be able to markup/label/identify the changes to an xml files in support of new client software functionality, but be able to have the ability to remove / back-out these xml changes in the rare event the client needs to fall back to the previous software version (and no I can't just simply point back to the original xml file because the client is allowed to make minor modifications to existing node text values). This is all going to be controlled via a perl script and LibXML's core modules (I can't use modules the client doesn't have).
So basically I've identified three possible types of xml changes as a result of new client sw functionality:
1.) ADD new element node(s) (typically to support new sw functionality)
2.) DELETE element node(s), or blocks of (would be rare, but never-the-less a possibility)
3.) CHANGE node text values (rare, but the new sw may require a new value)
For all three types, the client needs the ability to back out the changes. One thing I was thinking to use is ATTRIBUTES since the existing xml files don't use them. For example, for an ADD change type, I could include an atribute like 'ADD="sw version 4.1"' . This way if it needs to be removed, I could just simply have the perl script find those attribute strings and delete them (using LibXML methods). Same thing with CHANGE change type - I could use an attribute like CHG="newvalue_oldvalue", then again use straight perl (or LibXML) to switch back the value based on the contents of the attribute. The DELETE change type is giving me a problem though (as welll as the others lol!). I want to be able to "keep" the deleted lines in the xml file soley for the purposes if the sw falls back a version (at some late point the perl script could eventually cleanup/delete them).
I know this is a lot, I'm new to LibXML (but not to perl). I was just wonder if any of you have any thoughts as to how to go about it or seen anything resembling this kind of request ... I'd be grateful for any kind of advice! Thank you...
